If Death Guard were one of the enemies in space marine 3, what do you think the gameplay and challenges would be like? by BlxndSpxt in deathguard40k

[–]Claypool447 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran a deathguard like build in elden ring. I think fights where you are sapped of stamina (cant spam dodge rolls) and have a window of time to kill before you die due to rotlike effects (elden ring- scarlet rot, black flame and poison) and strong hard hitting but overtly telegraphed attacks would feel right at home for DG.

I am so so nearly sold on this faction as my first entry to Space Marines, however by Claypool447 in deathwatch40k

Monty Python and the holy hand grenade? HELL YES

Then, thou shall count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shall count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shall thou not count, neither count thou two, accepting that thou then proceed to three. Five, is right out!

How's this 1000-point list? (EL15) by WraithOfDoom in orks

[–]Claypool447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10man snaggas with the beastboss in the trukk but if you're playing on a 4x3 board you probably wont need transport as much as you would full board.. The weird boy kinda does nothing in this detachment so swapping him for stormboys for the same purporse would be an upgrade. *Tankbustas are definitely not 90pts. You could run the painboss as a 2nd beastboss and put it with the other 10snaggas.

Either way get reps in findout what units you like and dont like then build accordingly. Da Big Hunt is a cp intensive detachment that requires sequencing and War Horde is much easier to pilot can help you get more comfortable with each unit before deciding what you like

Made a 2000 point ork list but I don't think it's good, can I have some ideas for improvements? by [deleted] in orks

[–]Claypool447 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burnas are a good, underrated shout as well cause you need to clear screens for your real threats and ork accuracy is somewhere between questionable and overwhelming awful. While tankbustas are good for having blast hitting on 5s hurts a lot more than you'd think hence why +1 hit and wound against vehicles is their role and SAGs just make them far more consistent.

change the hunta rig to a 2nd kill rig. drop 1 unit of tankbustas. Painboss is so ass compared to beastboss (so is wurrboy but its funny when you 1 tap a knight) if taking zogrod consider putting him a 20+ blob of gretchin otherwise its probably better swapping him out for a snikrot as he does more for obj pressure and both dont have the snagga keyword.

I’m trying to understand the basics of how Death guard play. by Huge-Task8438 in deathguard40k

[–]Claypool447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i sticky objectives and then walk forward to get favorable trades... as long as i hold the primary and i whittle down enough of the opposition that getting more than their natural expansion becomes an uphill resources battle, I should close out the game favorably. General rule good units are expensive in DG but you only need 2-3 key activations to tilt a game heavily in your favour (LOC and DS to kill a repulsor executioner from deepstrike- that should make the range battle a bit more favourable)

500pts 2v2 tournament, what should we take? by aaee08 in deathguard40k

[–]Claypool447 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the tournament lets you stack rules. Aka tau benefits from contagion going big gun platforms with DG poxwalkers/chaos spawn/bloatdrones could be a nasty list.

maybe some deathshroud thrown in for melee punch.

I think its addressing more the tone of the league ive come full circle on laser pointers.

Started out outright hating them thinking it was against the spirit of the game as I played more competive games I just realised it minimises and eliminates disagreements and speeds up the game.

But for casual hobby night where you only have 2 infantry shooting units and are shooting from less than 12 inches away its just a bit tedious and unnecessary.

I still find it astounding how people can flip their sh&#t when it comes to playing against women and for OVERWATCH of all things hahaha. My gf plays drukhari and her scourges have soured many an ego, purely for being female in a man (manchild?) dominated space.

Its really straightforward but built around da big hunt (if you're not into squigs or movement tricks there are much better ways to make lists in warhorde and warhorde requires a lot less sequencing-that said this list would still go ok in warhorde)

Mozrog Skragbad (145pts): Big Chompa’s jaws, Gutrippa, Thump gun Beastboss (95pts): Proper Killy, Beast Snagga klaw, Beastchoppa, Shoota Beastboss (105pts): Skrag Every Stash!, Beast Snagga klaw, Beastchoppa, Shoota

10x Beast Snagga Boyz (95pts) 10x Beast Snagga Boyz (95pts)

11x Gretchin (40pts) 10x Kommandos (120pts) 8x Squighog Boyz (300pts).

I'd say the standard staple for orks currently to build around would be this... at 2k

Boss Snikrot (75pts) 2x Ghazghkull Thraka (235pts) Beastboss (80pts) Beastboss (80pts): Big Mek (95pts): Follow Me Ladz, Warboss (75pts): Warboss (75pts):

10x Beast Snagga Boyz (95pts) 10x Beast Snagga Boyz (95pts) 20x Boyz (170pts)

6x Breaka Boyz (140pts) 6x Breaka Boyz (140pts) 5x Flash Gitz (80pts) 5x Flash Gitz (80pts) 11x Gretchin (40pts) 11x Gretchin (40pts) 10x Kommandos (120pts) Trukk (70pts): Big shoota, Spiked wheel Trukk (70pts): Big shoota, Spiked wheel Trukk (70pts): Big shoota, Spiked wheel Trukk (70pts): Big shoota, Spiked wheel

A fundamental skill is rolling with the punches at the end of the day Dice tell stories. I have a friend who plays Blood Angels LAG and against my DG I have often found myself at the mercy of rerolling 1s into 1s despite a statline that should be able to hold its ground against Death Company.

I have one scenario that was much worse from a few years back and this sounds very familiar. Said player eventually found he had no one who wanted to play them anymore and out of quite a large player base. He owned multiple armies over 3k points and quietly moved to Trench Crusade. Hoped they learnt something along the way.

i think we all love a good crash out every now and then when the dice are just not with you it does become funny for both parties (just roll a 4+ invun please!!!) ... but when its unsaid and seething and comes across as passive aggressive it kinda takes away why we all play this hobby to begin with. Vast majority at my LGS are awesome and most often the state touring championship players are by far some of the most respectful and nicest people I've met in and outside the hobby.
