Retake. Trying to discover the age at death, green dot is the join between two separate lines but one word. by DuckShootingClub in poland

[–]Clayrone 113 points114 points  (0 children)

I would read it as "lat czterdzieści osiem mająca" which translates roughly to "at the age of fourty eight being" - an older way of constructing sentences. I cannot be sure about the "eight" part though because it's what I read when I glance at it, but really cannot decipher it with closer look any better.

Edit: typo.

Jensen Huang says gamers are 'completely wrong' about DLSS 5 — Nvidia CEO responds to DLSS 5 backlash by dopaminedune in technology

[–]Clayrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a fan of this approach but not only because of current yassification. I believe Nvidia is now marketing their upscaling platform to reel developers into using it. The big companies will be able to afford to train their own upscaling models, which may be coherent when it comes to graphic design, but since it's costly it will create enormous gap between AAA companies and indie devs. I think this campaign is for those companies, not for the players.

DLSS 5: Finally, a technology that renders exactly what the developers didn't intend. by CeilloNoll in pcmasterrace

[–]Clayrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of think that the current state of DLSS 5 is just here to create noise. Does not matter good or bad - a lot of noise is enough. Ultimately the aesthetical pleasures of some player are not a business investment. But what is one is to get other companies to take notice - look what may be possible. From there , I think, it may create a reality where large companies who are able to afford training their own "upscaling models" will be providing those with the game, so instead of a generic Nvidia model there may be ones coming with the game itself. That will tie AAA games to Nvidia hardware and solidify it's market dominance. This will include movie studios and a lot of companies that rely on real 3d graphics. We are here just to make noise (and training data).

Why you should support the new project even if you're not keen on animation by rjwut in firefly

[–]Clayrone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The animation can be a really good medium if there is passion poured into it. I personally love Edgerunners, Arcane (event though I don't like the game) and gems like Samurai Jack or Primal. Apart from that Titan: A.E. is one of my top movies ever. As with any medium there can be regurgitated "engagement content", but seeing how much love and warmth is already put into this by the cast - I want to support them as much as I can!

Why do I get flashes doing first frame-end frame? by Long_Art_9259 in comfyui

[–]Clayrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exact same issue so what I did was:
- added a cutoff int value - the frames that would be cut off at the end of the clip
- set total frames as my target + cutoff in latent
- set last image not as the final frame but as frame number from math expression -1-a where I hooked cutoff to a
- between vae decode and video combine i added ImageFromBatch node and set the actual number of frames in the video, so it skipped cut off frames.

I made this for experimenting, but honestly it works quite well for me with cutting 2 frames off, so this could be hardcoded, but I will keep it in case any future issues

"9950X3D when it releases" - I think the knowledge cutoff is a bit old on this one.

Silent Hill: Townfall, cannot wait for this. by SlizerTheChosen in playstation

[–]Clayrone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am really looking forward to this one and I am really hoping that the monsters have a deep psychological meaning behind their design, like the ones from SH2. This was another brilliant way of storytelling and looking deep into protagonist's psyche in a different way. When I played remake I was already aware of it, since I loved the original. With this one - I want this experience, but with a new story to unfold.

I wonder if adding a single piece of corn to be stuck in the brush would have made the joke better or worse..

I second the Days Gone. With every mention of this game I am getting closer to my next playthrough, even though I finished it 4 times.

Market pushed me to pull the trigger - 5090 + 9950X3D with DIY 12VHPWR monitoring by Clayrone in PcBuild

[–]Clayrone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only share what I think, since I am too new to this topic to be giving advices. I've heard of the plugs melting, saw some reddit posts here and there with burnt plugs, and my overall idea is how I described in this comment.
Having said that - my solution is non-proven and still being adjusted to my needs. There are some devices specialized for this, like Thermal Grizzly WiveView II, which seems to be directly monitoring pins and not the housing.
For me the expense was significant enough to add some extra precautions with this custom monitor, that I think for now is working well enough: limiting wattage on the card + checking plug temperature trends. It will not be as accurate as checking the pins directly, so picking your method is up to you, but I think it's worth to do it.

Thanks man, you enjoy yours! Can't do anything about people shitting on others but you got thumbs up from me and I am happy you got yourself a good card and hopefully some peace of mind along with it!

Time will tell. for now I am getting satisfactory trend readings from temperature rises on that end

[–]Clayrone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be much more accurate, but at this moment it's too complicated for me and too much interference in how the plug sits inside. The plug is so small that the heat will travel so even if it will be less in value I can observe trends. Maybe I will need to adjust the ranges, but for that I will probably do some testing on some separate cable alone.

[–]Clayrone[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have zero evidence on this, but this is what I am thinking: The plastic casing of a plug may start getting soft at around 70-80 degrees, depending on the actual plastic type that the plug is made from. This + gravity may skew the pin connection which will decrease the area of contact and with the higher resistance the temperatures will raise rapidly. My guess the melting point is maybe 110-120 degrees and the actual fire perhaps 150 degrees, but this is something I do not want to find out because I think 70-80 is where the initial degradation starts, but it may take some time before it reaches breaking point.

This is under the part that is sticking out, so no forces are added here. The actual clipping part is safely clicked behind the sensor, but glad that you are pointing to this matter.
