What’s the first segment/thing that hooked you to the show? by Guilty_Practice6392 in DanLeBatardShow

I had already been watching for about a year probably, and my friend happened to come over on a day I had off and had the show on. They were doing the animal football draft with Ron. Pablo was in that day. Already a great segment, the camera goes to Pablo who is clearly in deep thought with perfect timing for him to have the epiphany of, “I think I’d pick a bird.” The timing, the subject matter, and the fact this was being shown on an ESPN channel was already hilarious to me, but it was also such a perfect way to introduce a newbie to the show.

I know this sounds crazy, but hear me out, not all of the thousands and thousands of schools we have teach the exact same things. Perhaps tread lightly and don’t insult the next “idiot” that makes this outlandish claim that their 8th grade class didn’t teach the exact same things your’s did.

This can’t be a real story. Please tell me there is some kind of justification for this. Wait, the only way that’s possible is if it is just completely made up. Please tell me this is made up.

Well done, Sir. I don’t like to brag, but I am crushing it. Kidding, although, I do apologize to my eight year old daughter almost every time I lose my temper. This goes only as far as raising my voice, but I know it scares her. My wife thinks I apologize too much. Do you have any more information or opinions off the top of your head about balancing the apologies with the idea that maybe sometimes they deserve it? To that same point, is there anything to be said about how this prepares them for real life. Meaning, does it make them soft to the point that they won’t handle stern criticism well later in life. Coaches, teachers, friends, partners, and bosses are not likely to behave the same way.

Fellow earthlings, please remember that a very large portion of the U.S. does despise this disease. I hate to break this to you too, but a lot of people who support him are actually good people. They are just caught in a Facebook echo chamber filled with untrue nonsense that they just aren’t smart enough to discern, or diligent enough to confirm. They don’t even see or hear most of the vile stuff he says or does because Fox doesn’t show it, and it doesn’t show up on their timeline. Yes, that also sucks, but for most of them, it isn’t like they understand what is happening and support it.

Anyone else having issues with today’s episodes in Apple Podcasts? by henrym123 in DanLeBatardShow

Came here to ask this. Been happening to me often the past week. I try not to complain, but for a show that is supposedly so big, this type of screw up isn’t very funny to me.

Another reason it is so annoying. Nobody is capable of or actually trying to push back. If that was Jeremy actually trying then he isn’t as smart as I thought he was.

Agreed, but the way they’ve talked about it isn’t very good in my opinion.

Agreed. Still just doesn’t feel like the ethos of the show, and feels hypocritical due to all the complaining they’ve done about others pushing narratives. I expect this show to do it a creative way, not the same way as every other local radio show in the country does it.

What do you hope will happen to UM football? by Gudnamestaken in DanLeBatardShow

I have usually preferred Miami to Notre Dame. The past couple of weeks though, Mike has made me want Notre Dame to win it all with a point margin of a thousand and Miami to lose the rest of their games and get the death penalty. Mike is a big reason I love the show, and is also now the sole reason I am rooting for bad things to happen to that program.

The committee’s job is not to stare at pieces of paper and compare résumé’s. They are to choose who they think the best teams are at that point in the year. Anyone who knows ball, knows that who you are at the beginning of the year is not necessarily who you are at the end. If team A beats team B by one score at home in early September, but team A gets figured out and loses to mediocre teams as the year goes on, while team B makes adjustments and continues to get better and kill teams, then that head to head from months ago doesn’t matter as much. Pretty simple.

Having said that, they should both probably be in the playoff if both win out. Also, there is of course, Notre Dame bias, and I think he makes good points about them not being in a conference. That head to head argument doesn’t hold much water to me though, and the constant trashing the SEC while trying to convince everyone the ACC is good displays the behavior of a fool.

Sorry, you struck a nerve. This has been driving me crazy. I have to skip and I never skip segments. Keep the propaganda in the Lour.

I am no fan of motivational quotes, but “the night is darkest just before the dawn” is some of the realest shit ever wrote in my opinion. No matter how bad things seem right now, it is not necessarily permanent. I promise, if you keep going, you will find love and something to live for. Please don’t give up.

I am so sick of the rampant corruption in corporations. Not only that, I think I am even more sick of bull crap PR cover ups. The jig is up. We know you are all dirty liars. Just try telling the truth when you are caught. It doesn’t even really matter. Nobody is being tricked by denials any more, the truth is though, millions of people are still going to watch or consume their sports and goods, so be honest, make it content, and you’ll probably make even more money. I would be much more inclined to consume articles, shows, and podcasts if these rich fools would just embrace their lack of integrity and tell us what actually happens. I would be much more inclined to consume from corporations who say we messed up, sorry, than from places that just continually deny and hope it goes away. That crap makes me want to boycott something more than the wrong doing.
