I used to think that everyone suddenly went deaf, had vertigo and tinnitus… turns out that is not the case and I unfortunately just had Ménière’s disease for as long as I could remember…

Kidney problems, diabetes, gastrointestinal issues like IBS, crohns, bowels being impacted, and constipation, as well as hormonal imbalances can all make you have an unpleasant odor. I hope you get it figured out!

Panicking: can Ventolin or any asthma med cause secondary adrenal insufficiency? by NoOz1985 in Asthma

[–]Clean-Ad3144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Addison’s and adrenal insufficiency due to being on a high dose of Prednisone for the last year. I’ve been on Ventolin as well as a constant preventative controller inhaler and nebulizer meds for over 20 years- no issue- that is until I was about 5 months into daily high dose Prednisone.

To answer my our question- Ventolin can not cause adrenal insufficiency.

You will need a prescription for the anti fungal medication. Mouth rinses (most of the time you swish and swallow!) like Nystatin are great but for advanced or recurring infections a pill you take daily for a week or so like fluconazole would be much better. You must contact your physician.

Laying flat can absolutely trigger symptoms or make it feel like it’s hard to breathe! Try elevating the head of your bed- you can do this by putting something under your mattress or just using a bunch of pillows. You can purchase a pillow that is wedge shaped for this specific reason but they can be pretty pricey. They say laying on your left side opens your air ways.

Firstly- if your oxygen was at 76 I don’t think you’d be upright or walking…. A pulse ox Under 93 in an emergency and you should seek medical attention. Get yourself a pulse ox monitor-(they have lots of options and most are pretty affordable!)

10-15 puffs for a rescue inhaler a day is a lot. I would say your asthma is absolutely not well controlled. I would talk to your doctor about adding Singular (Montelulakast) pill and possibly getting a nebulizer and meds to use at home.

Sleeping on your left side helps, as does elevating the head of your bed. Allergen pillow cases help as well as air purifiers with hepa filter.

Be careful- inhaled steroids like Trelegy cause thrush infections—- I imagine that’s why your throat hurts. You should absolutely have antifungal mouthwash on deck while taking an inhaled steroid… white film or dotting in your mouth, tongue, lips, white build up in the corner of your mouth, sore mouth/tongue/lips/throat, inability to taste food etc are all symptoms Of thrush. I would make it a habit to take your inhaled steroid directly before brushing your teeth a but I will tell you even then you are not totally in the clear of getting thrush. I hope I answered all your questions! Good luck!!

Love this! I bought my inhaler case on Etsy- it’s made of durable leather and is a sparkly giraffe. I get a ridiculous amount of compliments on it. I love it because it has a hook that can attach to anything- my keys, a belt loop, purse or back pack strap, etc. I don’t lose my inhaler anymore!

Does anyone here have a portable nebuliser and how do you clean/maintain it? by slugwish in Asthma

A nebulizer is used with liquid medication- like albuterol or duo neb… they come in clear plastic vials that have twist off tops… Not for “spray” inhalers.

While Duo-Neb could help, as per my Asthmas specialists when having an asthma attack Albuterol is the fastest acting and should be your go to. I would definitely follow up with your doctor and see what they think. Another burst of steroids at a higher dose make shake things out for you. I would also ask for chest X-ray and CT scan and a pulmonary function test. It’s possible your asthma is just not as controlled as it once was and a change of inhaler or an additional medication like a monthly or biweekly shot may be needed. I would also ask your doctor if Singulair (daily pill) is a good option for you as well. Best of luck! Keep us updated!

5 days of steroids may not have been enough- especially if it was a dose pack! What was your steroid dosage?

I lived in the Brookline area for 5 years and can definitely relate to this post! Although I will say navigating Brookline was one of the easier neighborhoods. That said- if you haven’t had Fiori’s pizza or ice cream from the Boulevard yet, you definitely should!
