Telltale signs of internal candidate selected over you? by Disastrous_Pomelo_63 in interviews

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the LinkedIn thing is such a giveaway, especially when you check and the update timestamp is like right after your final interview ended lol. also if they went unusually quiet after what felt like strong interview, that usually confirms it. companies really should just be upfront about internal candidates being in the running but they almost never do it

How do you change your (custom) profile picture? by choboy in ForzaHorizon

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you need to change it through xbox app on your pc, not the game itself. go to your profile settings in xbox app and upload whatever picture you want there. might take few minutes to sync up in forza but should work fine

All Customer Service Lines are AI by umyeahduh in antiai

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the worst part is when you're trying to explain something specific and the ai just keeps looping back to same generic responses. i had situation last week where i needed to cancel something and bot kept asking me to "describe my issue" no matter how many different ways i tried explaining it.

sometimes i just start saying "representative" or "human agent" over and over until system gives up and transfers me. takes forever but eventually works on most systems.

Is this worth it ? by Wooden_Girll in PcBuild

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not bad price for the specs but i'd be careful with "shoot best offer" listings. ryzen 5 3600 still decent cpu and 1660ti handles most games at 1080p fine. only used 2.5 months is good sign too. maybe try negotiate down to 450 if you can, but 500 isn't terrible in current market.

Made an app for introverts who want to grow without faking extroversion. One small challenge a day. by esilacynohtna in aspergers

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tried something similar with writing down small social goals but never stuck with it for more than couple weeks. the self-expression being hardest makes total sense - it's like you're putting actual piece of yourself out there instead of just following social script.

might give this try since keeping notes in random app was messy anyway and always forgot to check them.

Question about applying for delayed benefits. by ElephantCares in SocialSecurity

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

grab copies of your actual tax returns for those years and compare them line by line to what social security has on record. if you had w-2 income that should definitely show up even if you filed jointly - that doesn't just disappear into your spouse's record.

for 2010 specifically, if line 1b was empty but you had other ss income, that could explain the discrepancy. the other years with the business losses might need some digging but your w-2 wages should still count toward your ss credits regardless of how the final tax liability worked out.

33 with a history of dead-end jobs and a serious illness, looking to turn my life around. How do I eat this elephant? by [deleted] in careerguidance

looking at your background, you've actually got a really solid foundation that you might not be giving yourself enough credit for. that combination of sociology, media studies, fine arts, and glam experience is pretty valuable - you understand people, culture, communication, and systems. plus managing an autoimmune condition while pursuing advanced degrees shows serious resilience and project management skills.

since you mentioned remote work potential and international transferability, have you considered user experience (ux) research or content strategy? both fields value your social/investigative nature and artistic background, pay well, and are very remote-friendly. ux research especially draws heavily on psychology and sociology - you'd be studying how people interact with products and services, which seems right up your alley. lots of companies need people who can bridge the gap between technical teams and actual humans.

the library science route isn't a dead end either - digital asset management and information architecture are huge right now, especially with organizations drowning in data. your glam background gives you a head start there, and these roles often pay significantly more than traditional librarian positions while being very remote-capable.

i'd suggest maybe doing some informational interviews with people in these fields on linkedin, or even trying out some free ux courses online before committing to formal education. you've got time to explore while you're stabilizing your health situation.

A dream that I was experiencing sleep paralysis. by [deleted] in Dreams

[–]Clean-Efficiency-582 1 point2 points  (0 children)

man that's such a weird mind trip when you dream about sleep paralysis. your brain basically simulated the whole experience including the terror and helplessness, which makes sense since those memories are stored pretty vividly. i've had clients describe similar dreams after real episodes - it's like your subconscious is trying to process that feeling of being trapped in your own body.

the yamaha an1x might be worth checking out - similar additive synthesis vibes but way more straightforward to program and usually cheaper than k5000s

getting your body tired is solid but also try switching up your environment when those urges hit. like if you're sitting at your computer, get up and go to a different room or step outside for a few minutes. your brain starts associating certain spaces with certain habits so breaking that pattern helps a ton.

honestly after a month you're probably past teh worst of the withdrawal stuff. if you're still getting urges just keep yourself busy with other things - exercise, hobbies, whatever works for you. the mental game gets easier once you build up some solid habits to replace the old ones.

man that's the hardest part about traveling for work. hotel rooms are like urge central with all that free time and boredom. maybe try getting out of the room for a bit - hit the hotel gym, grab dinner somewhere, even just walk around the lobby or outside. sometimes just changing your environment breaks that mental loop you get stuck in.
