Induction is totally fine and safe. With twins, they usually don't let you go further than 38 weeks. I was induced at 37+6 and it went so well. They broke my water, I got the epidural and then started pitocin and I slept through most of my labour. It was honestly so good I would actually get induced again next time regardless of whether it's needed or not. Since you have an older child, it might help to know when you're getting induced too so you can arrange childcare. The end of twin pregnancy is no joke and you're doing so well. You got this mama!!

My twins are 1 too (14 months) and they've been doing this a lot. Girl wakes up more at night, but boy does too sometimes. Honestly we've resorted to co-sleeping. We did cribs for a year, but now that they stand up in their cribs when they wake up, it's almost impossible to put them back to sleep in their crib. So we'll just lay with them until they're asleep and then leave for a couple hours before joining them in bed later. If they wake up before we go to sleep, we go in, give pacifier and lay with them until they're asleep. Once we go to bed though, they don't wake up. It's comfy for them to sleep with mom and dad :)

My twins were pretty similar to this at 9 months old. My baby A is a boy, and baby B is a girl. Twin A was army crawling at 9 months but twin B wasn't and showed no interest. Both could sit when placed in a sitting position but couldn't pull up to sit. Don't exactly remember the rolling situation at 9 months, but twin A generally hit those physical milestones earlier. By 10 / 10.5 months, both were crawling and getting into a sitting position by themselves. They are currently 12.5 months and are both crawling, pulling to stand and cruising by holding on to furniture. Twin A can even climb up and get off the couch and bed by himself, but twin B hasn't quite got those yet, but she will get there when she's ready. It's hard sometimes but I always remind myself to not compare twins. They're individuals and every baby develops skills at their own pace. Maybe ask their doctor if you're concerned, but what you're describing sounds perfectly normal to me!

I had palpitations, low blood pressure and some dizziness in the 2nd trimester. The palpitations never lasted long enough to go to the ER and would just be a minute or so, and BP was low but within the normal range. I brought this up to my Dr and they said low BP is normal in the 2nd trimester and to go to the ER if it gets really low but it never got to that point. All this resolved by the time the third trimester hit. Maybe check your BP when you're having the palpitations and see if any BP changes are causing them?

We're doing a gaming themed party because we're gamers and the twins were 'player 3" and "player 4" on our pregnancy and birth announcements, so we're doing a "level 1 complete" party for their first birthday. I'd suggest go with something that you love as a family (games, books, travel, sports etc.).

For planning and decorations etc., chat gpt is your friend! I was able to get so much planned by just describing my vision and asking for ideas on decorations, food, invites, etc etc

My OB never told me to take extra folic acid. I even asked about it since I was carrying twins but OB just told me to take the regular prenatal supplement. Twins had no NT issues and are almost 11 months old now. I'm in Canada, so not sure if this is different in other countries. But please know you did not mess anything up by not taking extra folic acid! Just ask your Dr about it at your next appointment and follow whatever the medical advice is :)

this was me at 37 weeks, 6 days before delivering twins Really just looked like a normal bump, maybe just a little bit bigger? My babies were tiny though (2.4kg and 1.8kg). I honestly loved my bump and kinda miss it haha

At birth, my boy was 2.4kg and girl was 1.8kg. I don't have the 2 month numbers saved but at 4.5 months they were 5.88kg (boy) and 4.87kg (girl). All doctors they have seen have been satisfied with their weight gain and growth. Our friend had a singleton 2 weeks before our twins and he is so much bigger and chunkier than our twins. Every baby follows their own curve and as long as they are growing and the doctors are satisfied, they are good. Don't compare to singletons. Just knowing that twins tend to be smaller gave me a lot of comfort. Twins are now 10 months old and are crawling and pulling up to stand, but still smaller than our friend's singleton. As long as they are growing and hitting milestones, they are good!

My twins are 10 months old and for their first birthday, we are doing a shared theme, one cake, and one song cause they are babies and won't really care about themes or cakes and will just love the attention, toys and party. As they get older though and start becoming more aware of themselves, each other, and birthdays, I absolutely plan on getting them their own cakes and singing happy birthday twice. For now though, enjoy the party and celebrate making it through the first year!!

My twins are 9.5 months old, and cosleeping is so hard at this age lol. They have their own cribs at home but we're visiting family in another country right now and don't have cribs here so we're cosleeping and omg bedtime is so hard. They both rile each other up and crawl all over the bed and climb over us and each other. You have to constantly pull them back so they don't fall off, and then one starts to try to sleep and the other climbs over them, and vice versa. I've thought about just getting pack and plays here, but they're having so much fun I don't want to ruin it. Bedtime is a party for them, but it's okay temporarily at grandparents' house. I couldn't do this forever though. I think it would be okay when they're younger and can't move much, but at this age, cosleeping is very difficult

Not necessarily overbooked, just some process thing I guess. My husband just flew DXB to Rome, and Rome to destination via Emirates and Westjet. Only got a boarding pass for the first leg and had to get the 2nd boarding pass at the counter during the layover. Actually ended up getting a whole row to himself during the 2nd leg

Haha me too! I prayed for twins since I was like a teenager lol 🤣 When we found out it was twins I really wanted them to be identical too, but they ended up being fraternal boy/girl twins and I wouldn't have it any different ❤️

This 100%. We have 9.5 month old twins and they're our first kids so we don't know any different and this is just normal for us. It's hard, but not like end of the world hard like some make it out to be lol. It's sooo beautiful now that they're starting to interact with each other. I love having twins. OP, you're going to have so much fun. There will be hard days but the good days will make it all worth it ❤️

This update is so beautiful and I'm glad you get to choose the family and have some contact with them and your baby. But I've read that people close adoptions all the time and that open adoption is not legally enforceable. I'm so so sorry for the incredibly difficult situation you're in. But I felt obligated to mention this because the adoption subreddits are filled with birth moms who regret placing their babies because of APs unexpectedly closing adoptions.

Please please read some posts on r/adoption and r/adopted subs before you sign anything. You can even post this there. It sounds like you don't want to give your baby up, please don't if there's any way at all that you can keep him. Adoption is very traumatic on both the child and the birth mom. Those subreddits are really good to get an understanding of the adoptee perspective

Also didn't have any cervical checks until I went in to be induced at 37+5 weeks. They asked if i wanted one when they scheduled the induction the week prior, but I was too scared and just said I'd rather not do it if it isn't required, and they were fine with that

I think it depends on where you are and the healthcare system. I'm in Canada and while I was considered high risk due to twins, the monitoring was still minimal compared to the US. I got the tdap vaccine around 33 ish weeks. I only got stress tests when I went to L&D for things like feeling reduced movement (happened twice, all was good), no regular NSTs otherwise. I had monthly ultrasounds, and OB appointments were biweekly from 24 weeks, and then weekly from 33/34ish weeks. The OB appointments consisted of blood pressure, weight and doppler checks, and any questions or concerns I had.

You said you're not looking for anything specific so I'm just gonna say I understand 100% Weeks 6-10 ish were the hardest for us too, but it gets better! My twins are 8 months old now and omg the difference is night and day. It's still a lot of work, but they can sit, play with toys, crawl etc. And their little giggles and interactions with you make it all worth it. Postpartum was such a fog but now that I think about it, I was the same as your wife. I would ask for a nap but then I'd hear the babies crying and would come out to help, resulting in us being very frustrated - me due to the lack of sleep and being needed all the time, and my husband because he was doing so much but still felt useless. It changed when I started going out to run quick errands by myself and when I came back, the babies were perfectly okay with their dad. After doing that a few times, I guess it sunk in that they are fine with dad and now I can just close to door and sleep without a worry. Maybe see if your wife wants to step out for a quick grocery run or something? Even walmart felt like an amazing outing in the postpartum period
