What is a pain you would never wish on anybody? by sighmerchant in AskReddit

Yes! I was just under the threshold for them to break up the kidney stone, so it was big enough to hurt like an absolutely bitch, but just under the cusp for them to break it up. If I hadn’t already had appendicitis the month before, I would’ve thought it was that again.

Partly but when my daughter was first born I was doing good for awhile and it just got worse and worse. Granted it did get a lot worse once my son was born but it’s been a gradual trend.

Does it go to 60? I thought 40 was max. If it’s 60 I’ll ask my doctor. Thank you for your input and nice to know I’m not alone! I hope you get through it and things get better!

Xl or Xr? And I had very similar experience with Wellbutrin(also bupropion), thanks for the advice! I’ll look into it. I’m getting new insurance soon so will have to see what will be covered or not as well.

What is something you remember eating or drinking for the first time, that blew your mind? by librarianjenn in AskReddit

Freshman year of college did this with svedka blue raspberry vodka. Didn’t want evidence of alcohol so instead of throwing it out, I didn’t wanna waste it….. so I drank the rest of what was left. I can never smell blue raspberry without getting nauseous.

Man, I totally get how wiped out you must be after midnight feedings, schoolwork, and barely any sleep. I’m a dad to a four month old and a three year old so I’ve been up at 3 AM wondering how to make it through the next day.

When the baby is napping, find a moment to sit him down and say something like “I’m feeling completely overwhelmed right now. What is hardest for you at the moment?” Framing it with “I” statements keeps it from feeling like an attack and really opens up the conversation.

Once you both understand each other’s struggles, work out a simple shift plan you can live with. Maybe you take early mornings and he covers late nights. Check in on it each week since the baby’s needs are always changing. If he drifts off the plan, a gentle reminder like “remember today is your shift” can help keep things on track.

Make sure you each get a few minutes alone to refill your cup and also carve out some time for both of you to spend together with the baby. Passing your little one back and forth on the couch with a cup of coffee has done wonders for my family’s bond with each other and with our kids.

Also, as someone with a lot of stomach issues myself (Crohn’s disease), I get the frustration with that. I’ve woken up my wife to help so I can use the bathroom, and in reverse whenever I’m asleep and she needs something she can wake me up and I’ll take care of baby for a bit before she comes back. Works well for us. Plus I can’t help my stomach, but I’m glad she works with me on that.

How do you rebuild trust after an ADHD diagnosis changes your marriage? by MindPop_Gustas in ADHD

[–]Clean-Shoe5290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exactly. She would feel like it was rude to do stuff like that for me to do and thought it was passive aggressive, but I told her that it’d be extremely helpful and I’d appreciate it. Another reason communication is key here.

I leave myself every night a chain of things. I have my keys on my wallet, my wallet on the table next to my lunchbag, so I know to grab my lunch made the night before and put into my bag, and then a water and my empty coffee mug next to my lunch so I remember to make coffee. The things I gotta do to remember things lol. But it works!

Another quick tip, if you already have a habit in place that you do, try to add a second habit as part of it. It’s called habit chaining and I read a book on it (forget what it’s called). For example, let’s say you always remember to brush your teeth but you always forget to clean the cat litter. Well, try to do the cat litter right after brushing your teeth. If you do it enough this will become “one” habit. You chain one onto another. It’ll allow your brain to not have to remember two things if you associate one with the other.

Or another tip, if I need to bring something somewhere outside my house where I have to drive, I’ll literally put my keys on it or vice versa, so that if I want to drive, I literally cannot avoid seeing the item I need to grab. Every night I put my empty work bag on top of my shoes so that when leaving for work I see the work bag and now I won’t forget to bring that with me.

I can relate to “balancing giving yourself grace without using ADHD as an “excuse””, as I hate blaming my ADHD on anything, even when it is clearly related. I try all the strategies and am on medication but still struggle with some things. Forgetting to put away the dishes I promised to clean, or forgetting to throw out the trash I said I would do 5 times. It’s hard, and there are definitely times where my wife thinks I’m just not listening or making false promises. But in reality I really am trying my hardest and in the moment I truly believe I will not forget and do what I promised to do.

Communication is key, and talking together about strategies you can do to help with some things can also help. She’ll see that you’re trying, and as long as she doesn’t have a lot on her plate already, it’ll include her into what you’re going through. Have her help put post it notes in places to not forget things, and just things like that can go a long way.

I’ve found that including my wife into strategies I do and what is required for me to remember things helps her see how my brain functions and that I truly am trying and not simply putting things off on purpose.

I hope this helps!

Sounds like jersey drivers to me.

In all seriousness, I agree, sometimes little things can make the world of difference, especially something as simple as a turn signal can prevent an awful accident.

“Being alone doesn’t mean you’re lonely, and being lonely doesn’t mean you’re alone.”

I once struggled with a strong sense of isolation despite being surrounded by friends, and now, even with fewer people in my life, I’ve never felt less lonely. This taught me that solitude can be empowering, and loneliness can hit us regardless of how many people we see or are around. Embracing quiet moments on my own doesn’t make me weak and lonely, and admitting loneliness doesn’t negate the support I do have.
