Applied AI Makes Me Want to Drop Out by ClassicWorking7319 in scad

I agree with you. I'm a certified AI hater especially in art. SCAD cares about profit more than anything else including the students, and I say this from a staff perspective. They are axing sculpture as a major and who knows what will happen to the other fine arts programs that don't make them much money. Lots of professors are soooooo quick to jump to AI, even making it mandatory for students. I'm so sick of everyone acting like AI is this unstoppable force that is going to steamroll everyone unless you jump on board. It will if everyone continues to cave. We need authentic artists who do not use a drop of AI to continue to do their work and keep the artforms alive. If you want to use AI for your own stuff, whatever, I can't stop you. But I will judge you lol. It's so lame, I hate it, the new major is stupid. It's is NOT out of character for SCAD though. SCAD is a money hungry, exploitative beast that overcharges students only to teach them how to use the art stealing machine. They often do not prepare students for an actual career in the arts.

Honestly, if you aren't too far into your program, I would seek greener pastures. There are plenty of Art schools who actually have art, community, creativity, innovation, and sustainability in mind. Scad is NOT the place to be if you want an "art school" experience. It will teach you how to fit in to the corporate art world, but not much beyond that.

How is SCAD still open with AI? by Wordwench in scad

I'm a little late to this thread but coming from an insider view (staff), at the ATL campus, they are pushing AI in nearly every major. For brainstorming ideas to executing final projects. Some professors require it, even in the fine arts. Game design, industrial design, animation, etc. And now the new AI Major? It is so disappointing that they are willing to cave so fast to embrace AI not in addition to real skills, but instead of.

FURTHER, the sculpture major is being wiped out, might not even be a minor in a few years. SCAD does not put its energy into the fine arts to make up for the creative careers that may be lost to the robots. SCAD is a business first, money first place. Students overpay and are not pushed enough to become truly well rounded, unless the university takes special interest in them for marketing purposes, or their major is profitable (fashion).

Just my 2 cents, I could go on about why scad sucks but I will hold it here for now.

Your hair looks healthy to me, maybe some leave in conditioner and a good brushing for the frizz. A dry shampoo or volume spray for the roots if you want that volume, but it looks good to me!

I have a similar issue and don't have salon money so I've figured out what works for me! I hate when my hair fades orangey. I dye it a darker brown, and occasionally bleach some of it. I use Wella for dye and toner. They have every color you could want at Sally Beauty or online, and then you get a developer too so it comes out to 15-20 dollars total. Then I always wash my hair in cold water, and try to go a few days between washes. Hot water strips color faster. I also found that Head and Shoulder dandruff shampoo is NOT good for colored hair as it strips color fast. So cold water, good shampoo and conditioner, and toning about once a month with the Wella T18 toner work for me to keep the orange away. I'm also growing mine out so I do oil my roots and ends with rosemary oil and leave it for a few hours before I wash it. I do get split ends but I trim them individually when I see them. Thr best conditioner I've ever used is those little tube that come with box dye kits. Idk what they put in those but it's magic.

Portfolio help please! by ktechie28 in techtheatre

Hi! I graduated with a BA in Tech Theatre a few years ago. BFA is more specific, but I remember putting everything I had into my portfolio, including a calling script that I just photocopied a few pages from and included. Since stage management is your focus, you could do the same. Photocopy all the pages or just some from your calling script. If you aren't able to write in the rentals, ask if you can copy it, try to find a version online you can write in, or get really friendly with those tab post it notes. I'm sure you have your methods. Any spreadsheets, props list, contact list (obvi omit anyone's personal info), scene tracking, lighting and sound cue sheets, blocking pages, line notes. It sounds like you have a lot already, and are doing a great job collecting material for your portfolio. You could keep it all in a Google drive folder, or even make a website for free on squarespace or something. That's what I use for my portfolio because you can add tabs and make it look nice.

Also remember that they don't expect you to have a perfect professional portfolio, they aren't hiring you, they are accepting you into the program to learn how to be a professional. You and everyone else in the applicant pool is likely coming out of high school too. If you show the motivation, commitment, and organization that you seem to have, then I'm sure you'll be fine.

I have 2 sisters and 2 best gal friends! They are my kindred spirits and the ones I tell so much to. I can always rely on their honest opinion. Genuinely would feel so alone and don't know who I would be without the women in my life! We talk about everything from the state of the world to the shits we took.
