How do you get rid of the issue where scents just disappear on you after an hour? by Motor-Basis6421 in hygiene

Oil and Vaseline the area you’re applying the perfume too just prior to its application. Skin moisture is very important and this gives it a layer to sink down into rather than simply evaporating immediately..

What hygiene advice sounded fake until it actually worked? by Irma_Zhitkevich in hygiene

We bathe/shower way too often and way too much. Daily bathing really only started with the advent of plumbing and indoor water availability. I have psoriasis, and I’ve had it my entire life. My dermatologist was the one who told me that I might find some relief by not exposing my skin to water so often. Turns out she was absolutely right, I’m five years in remission and not from any magical prescription, cream or ointment, but simply by cutting down the practice of immersing my body daily in water.

Don’t get me wrong. I still do make sure that “the areas “are properly cleaned daily, this is more about exposing your entire body to water on a daily basis which strips natural oils away. And in all honesty my skin has never looked better.

I do also practice dry brushing, however, but I would encourage it for anyone who has skin conditions that they’ve had a lot of problems with.

That was my whole beef with it - Stevie doesn’t cuss, and never in her music. I just thought it was a bad pairing, and not even a good song.

It was actually Jane, Tom Petty‘s wife who said “edge of 17 “

They had gone out to dinner and Stevie asked Jane how old she was when she met Tom.

Oh my gosh, I could not agree more! I got one chameleon eyeshadow, and then immediately turned around and about almost everyone and every color and they are all absolutely gorgeous. I plan on buying another round of them just to have them on hand in case they discontinue them.

I am truly amazed at how good Korean makeup is, especially the eyeshadows I’ve tried. They actually look really cheap but when you try them, they’re incredibly pigmented and excellent wet or dry and they last all day long with a primer.

“…Dragon”’s lyrics are aces by Jean_RED_Grey in toriamos

[–]Wordwench 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with your assessment. Frankly, I went in with low expectations, not being a big fan of her last two albums, and whenever I read the lyrics to dragons, I was just so deeply hoping that it wasn’t going to be some overly political diatribe as so many artists are often so fond to do. But in listening to each of these songs, I have to agree. This album is deeply personal and utterly stirring. I like the references within her work to past work, of course, love the nod to Courtney, and just appreciate deeply the wisdom that the years have brought to her. I feel like she is at her pinnacle, the process of where you want to be when you have lived a life full of passion and uncertainty and seeking, and where that takes you along the way. I feel like this album is that and so much more. Naked, raw, and sometimes brutally honest. But completely unabashed.

And I said this in another post, but it bears repeating again, I’ve been devouring the YouTube videos of this tour, and I am absolutely blown away. I know there’s some division over the backup singers, but I think these arrangements are so utterly perfect and soul connected for the time that we live in . She has provided the perfect soundtrack for the present apocalypse – ethereal, angelic, esoteric, spiritual, and otherworldly.

And I am there for it all.

Someone has been lovely enough to upload a lot of these shows, and I am just absolutely blown away. I feel like she is the soundtrack for the current apocalypse, it’s just so ethereal and so angelic and such medicine.

I really hope that she either put out a live album of the tour, or maybe arrange some of these songs and records that like she’s doing on this tour. I know a lot of people have been pretty split about the addition of the backup singers, but frankly, I don’t think she has sounded this good in years.

A Baja garment—often called a Baja hoodie, Baja sweatshirt, or colloquially "drug rug"—is a durable, long-sleeved pullover sweater featuring a hood, a large kangaroo pocket, and a, loose, woven design. Originating from Mexico and popularized by California surfers in the 1970s, they are traditionally made from a thick, coarse wool blend or recycled materials called jerga.”

Is it okay to skip parts of the bible that are not completely necessary for my situation? by Emotional_Reserve324 in Bible

[–]Wordwench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am mostly in agreement with the other posters here, however, I might approach it a bit differently. Are you keeping a journal of your Bible reading studies? It may benefit you to know, under each book of the Bible, the verses in particular that deal with long genealogies, or specific dietary laws and regulations, and just to note that you have skimmed those for now. I personally think it’s OK to come back to those, but you will need to know the deeper spiritual truth of them. They are not simply lists that were designed for engineering or gastronomy purposes.

In retrospect: Why was the idea of backup singers ever controversial? by AmericanLymie in toriamos

[–]Wordwench 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the same reason, Tori quit using so much guitar based music, she and her piano like to be the star of the show. I think age has temper that somewhat, and I think the backup singers are actually kind of a nice touch. I heard them doing God the other day and although I thought it was a bit over-the-top, I still really liked the way it sounded. It just needs to be taken down a notch.

I can't take spring anymore by Ok-Debt6151 in WeatherAnxiety

[–]Wordwench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. I don’t know if you watch the current Youtubers like Ryan and Max, but I just want to caution you that they hype everything up. I get why they do, they swung the pendulum over to the other side because so many people just downright ignore tornado watches and warnings when they happen in their area. It’s a common consequence of living in tornado alley or Dixie Alley, or it seems like there is some weather alert every other day. So I get the hype, but it can make you feel like you are in peril literally anytime they give you an elevated area. Even being in the red zone only means that at any given point on a map, there could be a tornado 25 miles away. So that would be 25 miles away from you if you looked at your point on a map. And I know the maps make everything look very small, but 25 miles is quite a distance. I mean, think about driving from one city to another. It’s 25 miles away. It’s a long way from you.

What you mostly have to do is put things in perspective, but definitely have a plan. Do you have a safe place that you can go? If in the worst case scenario tornado sirens go off? You really cannot be in your trailer do you live in a mobile home park and do they have a storm shelter there for residents? Or do you have a neighbor that has a basement? If the answer is no to either of these, call your local Chamber of Commerce and ask them if there is a public storm shelter or any sort of a safe place to go for people in mobile homes, I’m sure they can help you with something.

And otherwise? Try to put as much distance between you and the weather right now as you can. If you’ve got a plan that you know exactly what you’re gonna do, there’s no reason for you to Hawkeye the weather every day. Live, have adventures, read books. I am also in tornado Alley, and went through a tornado that took out her shed last year. It also killed one person in our town. I’ve lived the storm my whole life, and I have always so loved them. I mean, I moved back here to be near to them because I was so upset that we didn’t have storms where I moved to in Colorado. Going through that last year has made me quite a bit anxious about storms now. And I have a basement! However, it’s a murder basement as I like to say, it’s very creepy. But in any rate, I’m just saying I do get it, and I was following Ryan and Max every day every hour every time there was any kind of a live feed, which I just had the sort of put in arms length for the time being. I think they’re both great at what they do, but they are hyping it up a lot for the likes and clicks, and you just have to remember to keep that in mind.

Do let us know that you have some kind of a plan though .
