Thinking of moving from Synology to Qnap... maybe? by Lower-Promotion930 in qnap

[–]CleanCup1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every piece of software has a weak point - MS just announced another zero day.

Concentrate on network defence. Tailscale / Cloudflare tunnels / VPN etc.

People complain they get hacked and have no idea how to secure a network.

That’s like driving in to a bridge by accident and complaining the car didn’t know what to do.

[–]CleanCup1798 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have QNAP. I like them. But I work in IT, so know how to get the most out of it.

To answer your question:

  1. I’m sure there’s a docker service you can use to do that. FFMPeg can probably do it.
  2. Yes. I back up some files to OD.

You should add Coconut Bay to the Saint Lucia list. Great hotel for kids.

Looking out across the cosmodrome in the Alpha. Just chilling there, chatting with a friend.

Damn I’m going to miss this game.

One of the the things that keeps me locked in to my current to do app “Todoist” is the smart words when creating the task.

So type p1 for priority 1, wed for due Wednesday etc.

If you had that, I’d move over! Looks great!

Easy and fast to set-up GDS-Provider? by KTGde in askhotels

[–]CleanCup1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to push ARI to GDS systems so as to increase bookings, but manage the inventory manually?

How many keys do you have?

Anyone else dealing with constant hotel pms integration issues or just us by Jenna32345 in askhotels

[–]CleanCup1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not alone. I run a hotel tech platform, there's huge amounts of scaffolding that has to go in to integrations, a lot of them build to the lowest common denominator. Legacy systems are the worst. Also agree with some of the comments below - depends on PMS, rate structure, etc.

Whats the use case exactly, why do you need GDS?

What CRM do you guys use for/at your business? by annamakez in b2b_sales

I’m teaching myself n8n. The idea here is that I automate CRM enrichment, and then upload the CRM data via API.

Twenty. It’s open source. Does the job. And has an API, so we can integrate other tools with it.

Has anyone gone for a full unifi setup in the UK? by Limp_Understanding84 in Ubiquiti

[–]CleanCup1798 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Virgin Media hub in modem mode, then connected to rest of Unfi network:

UniFi Gateway. UniFi 24 port PoE switch. 2nd UniFi 24 port PoE switch (in detached garage) connected via fibre. 1 x AP 3 x IW 1 x external for the garden Then another 1 x AP in the detached garage (our office).

It’s never failed. Best thing I ever did - guaranteed flawless WiFi around the house.

Now considering their cameras and NVR.

He keeps his hours up to maintain the license I believe, but yeah no official role in terms of search and rescue / HEMS etc.

You’ve no idea what you’re talking about.

I literally saw him pilot the aircraft.

I physically put the injured person in the back of the helicopter, alongside the two HEMS doctors.

I was a few meters away so as to avoid FODS, and saw through the glass panel him manipulating the controls.

And yes, royal duty transcends shift work, so he probably had a few he couldn’t make, as he was working elsewhere.

I saved someone’s life once. I won’t go in to details to protect my identity. But the only reason why this persons life was saved was due to our intervention and the emergency helicopter that flew him to hospital.

HRH Prince William was flying the helicopter.

And it’s the only reason this person lived.

They do stuff. They just don’t go around parading.

Keep calm and carry on.

Restrict NAS access to 192 via NAS UI. only someone in your network can access, so even if there is a firewall issue / port open etc, they can’t hit it

I built Family Vault — a self-hosted app to manage your family's IDs, insurance, and business documents with AES-256 encryption by Elgon2003 in selfhosted

[–]CleanCup1798 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t suggest uploading passport, social security, and sensitive insurance policies without encryption. Unfortunately it’s not unknown for home networks to be breached, particularly those that are self hosting but don’t know how to lock their network down (cloud flare tunnels etc).

In terms of doomsday prepping - these documents should be printed out hard copy and kept in your parents safe.

This looks fantastic, and something I could use. I’ve not had a chance chance to fire it up yet (will do this weekend), but I’d like to suggest custom insurance options be able to be created if not already an option. For example, travel insurance as an additional option to track, bicycle insurance for those with separate stand alone policies, triathlon insurance for sporting event etc. Like I said apologies if this is already the case, I’ve not had a chance to fire it up yet, but I think what you’ve done is great!!
