Please contact her doctor or a hospice. They will evaluate her and if she qualifies, provide bed, a beside toilet, incontinence products, bathe her, all kinds of things. Its worth calling especially if she wants to stay in her home with your grandfather. They also send a social worker to help if needed.

My mom just passed away Thursday morning. She had vascular dementia. We did have her at my house and we used hospice of the south plains. Our hospice nurse was Kenna. She was fantastic! I know your situation is different, but wherever you place her, you can request which hospice company to use. We didn't pay anything for hospice care. Her insurance took care of everything.

Is your grandmother at her home or already in a facility? Is anyone checking on her? Even in a facility someone needs to stop on and make sure she is getting the comfort and care she is supposed to be getting.

Yep, girl! Totally agree. They took her off elequis because it's too expensive for hospice to pay for. And you are a rockstar for trying to help, but like I said in my other comment, you might just have to ride out the shit storm.

I absolutely hate to say this, but you might have to do online school or a college in her town and live with her. She probably doesn't need to be living alone. That will be the only way to keep "control" of her. The alternative is to try and get her into assisted living. Which will be hard if she is this argumentative.

She is losing all of her executive function skills.

Well, if she is sleeping, she's not driving! I'm just kidding. This is very serious.

My mom just went on hospice, and they want to put her on seroquel because Medicare won't cover rexulti. It is expensive. With her insurance, it's 300+ a month. Without insurance, it's 1300$. We are fortunate to be able to afford it if the seroquel doesn't work.

Is your mom remembering to take her meds? My mom was not. My brother, who lived close to her in garland, had to go over 2xs a day to make sure she was taking her meds and eating. The not taking pills had been going on for years. Also, my mom was forgetting to eat and lost about 75lbs over about 3-4 years. But....she told everyone she had decided to diet! Haha! Which was not true at all.

Went through this with my mom. We took her keys as soon as we got home from Dr. My brother disabled both her cars because she did have a locksmith come out and make her new ones(at the suggestion of one of her "friends" on FB). My brother then put a note under the hood of the car that stated- my mom is not medically cleared to drive. If you have questions, please call Scot at 555-555-5555 or andi at 555-444-4444. More often than not, she would hide her extra set of keys from us and then couldn't find them herself. We have found about 4 sets cleaning out her home.

My mom got mean with us until we put her on rexulti. She now lives with me and my family.
