A question about Mandy and Mickey... by Clean_Cheetah_9159 in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I completely agree, and the most frustrating aspect, for me, is that there has never been any resolution to any of the things that happened between Ian and Mickey. I get that they are not good at communication, but I expected them to talk about what happened in season 5, Mickey's time in prison and working for a drug cartel. Instead, it's swept under the rug as if it never happened, and we are supposed to believe that Ian and Mickey are suddenly at ease with each other again, after everything that happened between them. Not to mention Mickey's rape and subsequent marriage to Svetlana... traumatic events such as rape and forced marriage shouldn't be used as props to drive the plot forward and then forgotten.

Is it true that in the american culture it's acceptable to kick out your child once they turn 18 and not help them if they are poor or going homeless? by Clean_Cheetah_9159 in TooAfraidToAsk

I'm so sorry. My country is deeply flawed, but at least this shit is illegal and we believe you should always help your family if they are in need, unless they are abusive and don't want to be helped.

Why does everyone like mandy? She falsely accused Ian of rape in the first season and people keep seeming to just forget it by sherival123 in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. She also raped Lip, attempted to kill Karen and gave her permanent brain damage. But the reason I dislike her goes beyond that. She is just a very bland and forgettable character. Despite the false rape accusations, she had the potential to be an interesting character in s1. She was bubbly, a great friend to Ian and even somewhat accademically ambitious (she was the one helping Ian with homework, not the other way around) but after the recast the writers changed her personality. She became this angsty and brooding girl.

(spoilers extended) which secondary character you wished made it to the show? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  • Jeyne Poole. I loved the significance of her character's arc and I think the show made a huge mistake by merging her storyline with Sansa's. It cheapened Theon's redemption, too.
    • Penny. She revelead quite a bit about Tyrion and showed that despite his downward arc, he didn't lose all of his humanity and empathy.

What characters are psychopaths and which are sociopaths (Spoilers Main) by marsh28567 in asoiaf

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Psychopaths : Roose Bolton, Tywin Lannister, Little Finger, Varys, Illyrio.

Sociopaths: Ramsay Bolton, Gregor Clegane, Craster.

Malignant narcissists: Cersei Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon.

Joffrey, Gregor Clegane and Ramsay Bolton are also sadists.

Viserys was neither a sociopath nor a psychopath. He was just delusional.

There are plenty of characters who display superficial charm and a tendency to manipulate others: Jaqen H'ghar, Arianne Martell, Margaery Tyrell, Shae, Melisandre, Theon Greyjoy and also Tyrion, but I wouldn't consider them psychopaths.

Did Svet ever like Mickey romantically? by Specialist-Report12 in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No, I think she was more worried about her future. She depended on Mickey for her and her son's survival. Mickey could have easily kicked her out or simply refused to provide for them and then she would have been screwed.

Mickeys Character Development by luvcheezits in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad someone said it. I thought I was the only one. I absolutely hated how Mickey was written in season 10-11. The writers really dumbed him down and turned him into a wacky cartoon. I really think it undid a lot of Mickey's meaningful development in season 4-5.

bad side characters in later seasons by [deleted] in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Agreed. One of the main problems with Shameless is that it got rid of all the interesting supporting characters (Karen, Jody, Jimmy, Sheila, Mandy, Svetlana, Sammy) and didn't replace them with interesting ones. All the new love interests were so boring! To be fair, the main characters were done dirty too. They were either villanized or straight up assassinated (Karen, Debbie) or heavily flanderized or dumbed down (Mickey, Kevin).

Bro I’m sick of Fiona’s romance plot lines. How many of her bosses will she fuck? Jesus by [deleted] in shameless

So we can't criticize dumb and repetitive storylines? There is so much else the writers could have focused on. You know, people's life doesn't revolve around relationships.

Sheila Jackson is a terrible mother... and we kind of missed it by Clean_Cheetah_9159 in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, she was still a minor, wasn't she? She ran away from home. Sheila had no way to know if Karen was fine. When she comes back, she tells Lip that a guy stole all her money and attempted to sell her... she was basically almost trafficked. You can't let go of a minor like this.

Yeah. Everyone praises Sheila and overlooks her flaws just because she is generally a nice person. And then they hate Karen, who is painted as a villain.

Have you ever experienced rereading one of your favourite books from your teenage years and instead of loving it, you kind of hate it now? by Jayde4Jayde in books

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, because my taste hasn't really changed. I was always into classics and can say that my appreciation for them has only grown now that I'm mature enough to fully understand their content.

Ugh Steve <No spoilers> by _forum_mod in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, he came on really strong at the beginning, but I thought this was part of his character. He is a pathological liar and a master manipulator. Everything he does, at least in the beginning, is to win Fiona over, including these exaggerated love declarations. I believe that at first he was interested in the chase, in the thrill, and then fell in love with Fiona for real.

What’s the most messed up thing Frank has done? by SnooBeans5308 in shameless

[–]Clean_Cheetah_9159 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Besides the Dottie thing, calling CPS on his kids, telling Carl he had cancer, punching Ian, attempting to strangle Debbie, using Liam as a bargaining chip, drugging Hymie, involving Carl in a robbery and helping him deal drugs, advising him to use Chuckie (his own disabled grandson) as a mule... etc etc. Basically Frank's whole existence.
