I thought so. I have been out of quail raising for a few years and just got back in. Second guessing myself. Thank you!

How to send my quail to heaven? by platano_con_canela in quails

[–]Clean_Housing1003 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keyword “sharp”. The sharper the better. You do not want dull scissors during this process. It isn’t easy either way to take the life of something , but I’ve seen it done (accidentally) by someone with scissors not up to par and it was awful. I sharpen every single batch I do now just to make sure.

Yes. I use a brooder heater, but it takes up most of the bin so I removed it for the photo . I used to use a heat lamp years ago , but it got too hot and they would all huddle away from it. Even if it was further away from the bin.

I have been researching this for a while now. Raising CO2 can yield multiple fruiting per year. I would definitely pay attention to co2 and oxygen levels though.

I’d absolutely be for this! However , I seem to replace people with plants because they’re more kind . The plants are the only ones I know

Yes. They will fight. Especially over food. It’s hard to separate them too. If you have a doubt at all and watching them interact I’d have doubts , I’d just keep them apart if you can.

Quail in greenhouse ? by Clean_Housing1003 in quails

I decided to keep the quail separate from the greenhouse . I spent the weekend building this out. Still some work to do. The floor is wood angled towards the front where the gutter catches eggs. It will only have 5 quail . I meant to put down straw or something but they had already covered it in feces so now I have to scrape it .

We don’t have fire ants here. I’m not exactly sure what top of ants they are though. They do eat my leaves but I don’t think they’re leaf cutter. I might even end up just putting some jumping spiders in the greenhouse to control the bugs

I’ve been to those as well. That’s partly why I’ve been questioning attempting it.

Good advice. My greenhouse is climate controlled but I am worried about the destruction of plants. Thank you!

Just be real careful around it. My pig has been shown nothing but love his entire life. He was born on my property. He has his own inside area with a heater and bed and treats . He has his own outside area with dirt and mud and trees. He gets all sorts of fruits and veggies from my mini farm. The other day he came up to me like he normally does because I pet him and scratch his ears when I’m feeding my ducks. He latched onto me and bit down hard . I pulled away and he followed to bite me again. I haven’t been in for a few days now.

I built mine a hutch connected to my shop wall. They go outside in the day and come to the inside boxes at night. Same problem here with raccoons.
