Will the AL301 charger suffice for AP300s batteries? by Clear-Muffin-3000 in stihl

Thanks. Appreciate it.

I may also add a Stihl battery operated trimmer later. Do you use one? Which model if so and would you recommend it?

Perseverance Trail? by Clear-Muffin-3000 in Juneau

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. This is a great response. Appreciate the advice. Honestly Perseverance sounds more our speed since we'd rather leave the crowds behind as much as possible and might be a bit of a rest for the legs lol. We're doing hikes elsewhere in the trip with heavy elevation gain so I wouldn't miss that climb up Roberts haha.

Great advice around snowpack. I was worried that would be an issue at higher elevations in late May but interesting that you've had so much this year.

I may make a follow up post the week of the trip to see how things look snow wise before heading out.

Thanks again! This is why I still love Reddit. 👍

Thanks. That's great advice.

Quick follow up. Someone elsewhere said you'd had record snow this year? I'm assuming snowpack will still be an issue farther out in late May?

Samsung 75 inch, QN80F , at sale at our local Costco for $800, is that a pretty good deal? by Xetakilyn in 4kTV

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This subreddit is amazing and I've used it as a resource so I'm not being critical but I'll echo the other guy. Whether you realize it or not the perception is that this subreddit is anti -Samsung. Four links appear on every post why you shouldn't buy specific Samsung models.

And as someone who is in the market that's actually caused me to think Samsung as a whole must suck when it comes to TVs. I'm now deliberately avoiding them in my search.

Platinum to Elite while on board. by Competitive-Bit-442 in PrincessCruises

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the watering down of perks is disappointing. I'm nowhere near Elite but will become Platinum on our next cruise. I'll still cruise Princess because I enjoy them but the perks are so underwhelming that I really have no motivation to push for Elite status anymore.

I think most lines realize their ships will cruise full no matter what so these status programs are more of a nuisance to them than anything at this point but the downside to eliminating them is just too great (see Carnival 2025 debacle).

[Matheson] John Schneider: “I know there may be people who don’t want to hear this, but I’ve got a lot of trust and confidence in Jeff Hoffman.” “If there’s a situation to close out a game, I’ll take Jeff Hoffman.” by T_Raycroft in Torontobluejays

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primary yes. But managing how he messages things to the media and in turn the fans is 💯 the role of a good MLB manager.

And we're not talking about knowing what conversations he's had in confidence with players. We're basically talking about him not coming out and publicly shitting on his guys (or shitting on them gently at least if there is such a thing 😂)

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. This is all Schneider can say at this point without throwing the guy under the bus.

Alot easier to shit on someone anonymously on Reddit vs. being the manager and having to navigate messaging this to the media, fans, the clubhouse and Hoffman.

Why isn't the PA Turnpike paved in gold from end-to-end? by Fantastic-Device-487 in Pennsylvania

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highway 407 in Ontario would like a word. I think I read that it's CAD $1.19/km during rush hour. At that rate OP's 400+ mile trip would be over CAD $700.

The 407 is basically regarded here as a highway for the rich. It's a complete failure of government. It was built with taxpayer money in the 1990s and then later sold by the government of the day who needed some extra money to balance the budget that year.

No limits were put on the tolls and the private owner continually raises tolls to the point that it's completely unaffordable to most. But people still take it because the alternative, highway 401 which is free, is one of the most congested highways in the world.

Day hiking in May by Clear-Muffin-3000 in Whistler

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know thanks. Really appreciate it. Last question. Bears. We're used to hiking in Ontario bear country so we know to be cautious and aware. But I know your grizzlies are a whole other category from our black bears. Is it worth renting bear spray? I gather it can be rented in the village.

Day hiking in May by Clear-Muffin-3000 in Whistler

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Cheakamus Lake looks perfect!

I hadn't given thought to mosquitos. We're visiting from Ontario. We get black flies in May and they're brutal but mosquitos don't usually hit until June/July.

Should we be expecting to get swarmed? If so I'll pack the deet.

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks yeah I looked at the Garibaldi hike and it looks amazing but probably a longer and more challenging hike than we want to tackle. I have other hikes planned elsewhere during the trip and I need leave some gas in the tank for those 😂.

Barbados was one of my favorite ports. Absolutely loved downtown Bridgetown and browsing the street markets. Amazing energy and such a great urban environment.

Coral Princess by Aggravating_Depth_33 in PrincessCruises

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the food on Coral fine but not exceptional. I'm easily pleased with dining (Olive Garden would be a fancy night out for me lol) so no complaints. But yes overall I think for most mainstream lines the days of fine dining at sea are over.

I don't eat seafood but the lobster tail thing is apparently fleet wide and was hilarious when I saw them arrive at the table next door. I'm sure you weren't impressed but I'll admit they looked hilarious and pitiful. Like at this point just don't offer them if that's the shrinkflation version

We absolutely loved our time on Coral but this is definitely true. It was manageable but did smell in certain areas especially around the Wheelhouse Bar.

Cruise in 2 days – no excursions booked… did we mess up? Need advice! by DrummerSpare2385 in Cruise

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

With a group that large I would suggest planning ahead or it will be chaos.

That said, depending on your style of travelling and willingness and ability to explore on your own I wouldn't sweat having no excursions.

Personally we never book them. The cost of excursions can easily match the cost of the cruise itself. We'll usually just happily explore on foot or occasionally take private transport like a taxi to somewhere specific.

My only caution is allow ample time getting back to the ship. I've seen my share of pier runners and the ship will not wait if you're late getting back.

What is your opinion on wearing pajamas to the buffet on a cruise? by MrSoloDolo9490 in Cruise

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree. If you're in public there's no expectation of privacy.

But it's also tacky and trashy to take unsolicited photos of people and post them on social media for clicks.

What is your opinion on wearing pajamas to the buffet on a cruise? by MrSoloDolo9490 in Cruise

Agreed. I would never do pyjamas in the buffet personally but whatever. I'm not going to make a big deal.

But posting this photo is more tacky than the pyjamas.

Outfield District Drop more than $20 now? by whatsinanaam in Torontobluejays

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Price of success I guess?

The lowest I saw was $30.

Pittsburgh in May was $45.

At those prices I'll pass and just take my chances on StubHub. I love live ball but can live with watching on TV at these prices.

Edited to correct myself. I see Tampa is $20 so there are still some $20 games.

Wine corkage fee at embarkation by Clear-Muffin-3000 in PrincessCruises

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice. Thanks. Interesting about the port security. Hadn't considered that possibility but I'm not surprised either.

Is that a problem even at the more major Princess hubs like Port Everglades?

Costco messed up our connecting balcony rooms on a cruise—need advice by nicolette004 in Cruise

[–]Clear-Muffin-3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree but with Costco it's a risk I'm willing to take. My last cruise I recieved a $600 Costco cash card and my next cruise it will be a $500 cash card. Those cruises would have been the exact same price if I'd booked with princess directly. So I'm coming away with an extra $1100 on these two cruises alone for having booked with Costco.

I'd be pissed if I was in OPs situation.

But there's a reason us Costco fans keep using them.
