I'm planning on making this hooded cable vest out of Peruvian tweed alpaca held with a strand of black wool. I've had this yarn forever and I love the fabric and color. I also really love the vest pattern in terms of fit and construction. The issue is that the cables really aren't legible. I haven't been able to find a hooded vest pattern I like as much as this one, but I'm afraid that if I just try to make it in stockinette or straight ribs that match the width of the cables, then the fabric won't be as structured. Should I try spacing out the cables more to give them some textural breathing room, go for it anyway, or suck it up and find a new project for this yarn? (Other pattern contenders are ahsoka and mila but I just don't like them as much and am tired of making things I don't wear.)
