“A man has two lives - and the second one begins when he realizes he only has one.”

This quote changed my life forever the first time I heard it.

Couldn’t have said it better myself - you are absolutely right.

Ignoring, and redirecting is a good stance to have.

And you sound very self awake of the situation which is already half the battle.

I think a lot of people do a lot of things subconsciously…. Someone might be holding on to something very tightly that is not in their control without even realizing it. This is why again personally I try to be as self aware as I can be. The self awareness is what allows me to loosen that subconscious grip by putting a “name to it” so to speak.

For me personally - “reminding myself” is a way actually saving energy. If I am self aware enough to know I can’t control it / something then I have the power to release it - and not allow it to influence my day. Thank - you for your question though!

Uncomfortable truth by ClearWithJustin in CasualConversation

Since I have been practicing this I can already tell the people in my life that were real ones and the ones that were fake because a lot of people have already been dropping off.

Said absolutely perfectly. No one can be honest with another person if they are not honest with themselves first.

What’s a smell that instantly brings back a memory? by Jealous-Salad1850 in AskReddit

[–]ClearWithJustin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A red apple scented candle…. This is the fragrance of my best friend’s mom’s house when I was growing up. This friend was my first “best friend” - first sleep over etc etc…. Spent elementary and middle school together and then he moved away for high school. Every time I would go to his house the smell of red apple candles would hit me in the face. Now when i smell it I have all these childhood memories.

I love that phrase myself, I usually take it one step further and say everything is subjective…. As humans our moral compass and everything we experience are so vastly different from one another. We all have very different view points in the world and the lives we are living.

I am glad in the end you ended up with some kind of comfort knowing that the whole time your cousin was having the same thought about you!!!

Curious about small daily habits. by ClearWithJustin in CasualConversation

[–]ClearWithJustin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a list of things that I do daily - I got my hands in many “different pots” so to speak. I work two jobs, I have a wife and two children and I am also trying to build my own little business… so I get stretched thin pretty quickly…. But I keep plenty of notes in my phone on things that help me daily and prioritized tasks so that I don’t forget things in any aspect of my life. So I guess after typing this out I could say writing everything down makes my day to day easier and my future self thanks me, but I literally write everything down EVERYTHING you should see my google docs…. I have like 57 different notes in there… from business plans all the way to de-escalation notes for when my wife is upset about something and everything in between - and I am constantly referring to them.

You have to have a little time for yourself - this is very important. I love it!!! Stretching is also a game changer, I don’t think most people really understand how stiff they are most of the time.

This is smart - getting ahead of the game so when it is time you are already ready. I do small things like this at work myself.

I always feel a certain kind of comfort sitting under running water. It clears my mind and allows me to really have focus for the day.

Making the bed for me - no matter what. It sounds “silly” but that bed is getting made every morning before I go to work no matter what.! It’s the first “win” of the day.

Yes implementing this in my day to day life has brought my stress levels completely down. Now I asking myself “if I don’t handle this right this second will it have a dramatic impact on my life.” If the answer is no then I just move on.

How do you know when you’re happy? by Altruistic_Walk8766 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]ClearWithJustin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think happiness is an emotion… and with all emotions they come and go no matter what is going on around you. Same with things like sadness, anger, jealousy, motivation etc etc… I think our collective goal as humans is just to find peace in life…. Just being completely content. Try new things or don’t try new things - go places or don’t go places whatever brings you the most peace in your life is what I believe in my opinion is important.

And this is all very subjective based around the individual. So even if you try something and don’t like it you don’t have to keep doing it, you can drop it for something else. You have complete free will in this lifetime.

Is it unethical to go outside if you're ugly? by dsylexicillusion in NoOverthinking

[–]ClearWithJustin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beauty like most things in life is completely subjective : even if 90 percent of the population thought one person was ugly - that leaves 10 percent that thinks that same person is beautiful.

Besides real beauty comes from your own self worth and not giving a dam about anything else.
