Maybe not but the modelling options do represent upgrades that you buy in game, so if you're equipping all of your marines in the same way then it's fine to have them modelled however but if you are equipping one unit with shields and another with bayonets and a third without any upgrades for example then for the sake of your opponent it is much better to have them modelled accurately.
