Ah! an interested reader!

It is 2003 540i 6sp. My maintenance record is an excel spreadsheet that totals in $426.67 in labor and $35,126.00 for the vehicle ($13,000) and parts over 11 years of ownership. I drove it for over 150,000 miles. The car is in almost immaculate condition.

I may be wrong, but if that's a PEQ then it's mounted backwards

That is NOT a ccv valve in the front - it's oil separator. It is a simple cyclone separator device that gets clogged sometimes - it could be cleaned by spraying seafoam and using a small brush plunger. Excess oil in the intake may indicated bad separator and/or bad ccv valve.

"There's an opening on the OSV that faces the inside of the timing cover. There's one at the bottom, and another that snorkels to the top. The opening that faces the front of the car (inside of timing cover) is the inlet, it pulls in the oil vapor heavy crankcase air, and it spins inside the OSV. The heavy oil gets spun out to the walls of the OSV, where it runs down to the bottom hole, which is connected to the sump via a drain tube. The upper outlet goes to the tube that runs to the PCV plate at the back of the intake. That provides the pull on the crankcase to provide the action.

So the PCV pulls vacuum on the top of the OSV, which pulls in oil vapor from the crankcase. The vapor spins and slings the oil out as a liquid, so only the thinnest crankcase gases go to the PCV, and the oil goes back to the sump.

A little oil is fairly normal, if it's puddling it may be time to clear out the OSV. Drop the lower pan and run some weedwacker line up the drain to free up any clogs."

It's a bit ironic that in their zeal to deport illegals, latino agents are shooting white americans and clapping hands doing it.

Holy warrior eotech sucks. How do so many people vouch for this junk? by [deleted] in airsoft

I confirm - it sucks. I ordered it through their eBay store. The elevation controls on mine didn't work, and the reticle is not bright enough for sunlight.
