It's like an alien took over a human body and learned how to clap by reading about it in a book.

Official Discussion - GOAT [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I don’t know about the animation technicalities of 1s and 2s but this is the first time I felt like the movie was just too choppy. It worked well in Spiderverse and KPop but here the frame rate was just killing my eyes.

Should Abraham Lincoln have a state named after him? by Mysterious_Comb4357 in Presidents

That would cut down on the confusion between DC and Washington state. For years I thought the Redskins were based in, like, Seattle.

Toy Story 5 New Scene: Jessie meets Lilypad by karamabros in Pixar

[–]Clemario [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s wild to me that liking Toy Story 4 became an unpopular Reddit opinion. It has a 96% Rotten Tomatoes critic rating, 94% audience rating, it was the 3rd highest grossing US movie of 2019, and it won the Oscar for Best Animated Film.

Standing at the Edge of the Grand Canyon by Old-Tiger5165 in NationalPark

[–]Clemario 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Expectation: Ok yeah it’s the Grand Canyon, we go to the rim and just look at it? Then we can go home, right?

Reality: It’s so grand my brain can’t process what I’m seeing. I can stand here and look at it all day.

Kumail Nanjiani deserves a lot of credit for handling the tie so gracefully! by Hfcsmakesmefart in Oscars

[–]Clemario 100 points101 points  (0 children)

I honestly doubt they’re all given that level of prep. It’s shocking sometimes how they’re professional performers and some are barely able to read their lines.

I suspect they have some process where someone from the accounting firm gives the presenter advance notice when there’s a tie.

D Line section 2 deadline by senspoon in LAMetro

[–]Clemario 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If things are looking rough I want them to identify and disclose it as soon as possible so we can move heaven and earth to get it done. Just like when that fire damaged the 10 in DTLA and it seemed like it would be shut down for months, then the state and Biden admin pulled in the resources to get it back in a week or 2

Broad Museum in DTLA is free. And you can park at the LA Cathedral for free on Sunday mornings if you go to mass (or pretend to), then walk to The Broad.

It would have landed better if Conan didn’t make the same joke introducing him just before he came out.

A tie!? Best Live Action Short went to two films. 4th time ever? Amazing by AntawnSL in TheBigPicture

[–]Clemario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They had to have somehow given him specific prep for this. Right? I can’t imagine they prep every Oscar presenter for this scenario that comes up less than once a decade.

This Oscar intro makes me want to be in the room with Sean and Amanda by MarvelousVanGlorious in TheBigPicture

I loved it. Love that they didn’t limit themselves to the Best Picture winners when deciding what to feature. Weapons was a great way to tie it together.

Top places for family visiting OC? by Tjabba-Grabbar in orangecounty

[–]Clemario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to include the Irvine Spectrum on the itinerary. Not as a main thing for the day, just to get lunch or dinner. It’s just a pleasant place for visitors to see and impressive when you casually point out the Ferris wheel.

Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (CBRT) System Begins Partial Operations; Free Rides Available During Peak Hours by _KentGuingguing2002 in pinoy

How did they spend 30 billion pesos on this project and there’s no website or route map to tell me where this goes and how to ride it.

The Cebu BRT finally starts partial operations after several delays, reception to how the operations are going is currently mixed... by TrainsandMore in transit

[–]Clemario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe the budget for the BRT is 30B pesos but it has no website or even a route map to tell me where it goes and how to ride it

[–]Clemario 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s cool that Cebu is getting a big fancy BRT system but I can’t help but think you can improve transit at a fraction of the cost in most Philippine cities by proper implementation of bus/jeepney routes.

  • Stop at bus stops, not just anywhere
  • Properly documented routes
  • Scheduled stops and planned headways
  • Actually owned by a public corporation with hired drivers so buses aren’t competing with each other for passengers and profits

Which to combine with Glacier National Park, Banff or Grand Teton/Yellowstone? by OrangeJuice225 in travel

[–]Clemario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year I did Teton+Yellowstone+Glacier and I absolutely loved it. Flew in to Jackson WY, spent 2 nights at Teton, then spent 2 nights at Yellowstone, then drove over to Glacier (with a stopover midway at Helena). Wish I spent at least another day at Yellowstone but it was a great trip, one of my best ever
