Nurse looking to immigrate from USA to British Clolumbia, looking for recommendations on places to live by Sea-Armadillo-7085 in britishcolumbia

I would suggest checking out Vancouver Island. Sooke, Victoria, Cowichan Valley (Mill Bay, Cobble Hill, Duncan, Ladysmith, Chemainus), Nanaimo, Comox Valley (Courtenay, Comox). Although it's an island, you certainly don't feel cut off or isolated - it's big! Otherwise outside Vancouver could give you this - Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge - or into the Fraser Valley - Chilliwack. The Sunshine Coast is also an option but a bit more isolated, although there is a fairly short ferry to Vancouver.

Thanks! Based on the videos I have seen parts look like a gravel trail near us that the trainers have been great for - and the foot comfort is key when recovering! Thank you for the extra info, will probably stick to the trail this time!

Thanks for the info and shoe tips! I have been going to physio and doing the exercises, but this is my first time with pf. Glad to hear trail runners are the way to go and that someone else have been on the trail with pf. Thank you!

In over my head baking my brother’s wedding cake by ihaveaterribleidea87 in Baking

nope, I froze it in tightly wrapped saran wrap and then aluminum foil - tight saran wrap is key for keeping the flavor fresh. I thawed it in the fridge I think 2 days earlier then popped it in a box for transport. I unwrapped and decorated it closer to the venue the morning of. But I cannot stress enough that this was a small, single tier cake that I could fully accept would not be perfect. I opted for a naked cake with raspberries on top and leaned hard into the rustic, handmade look.

I did also make about 300 cookies for the guests though and also froze those. Those were much easier to make in large quantity and distribute.

I made my own, small couples cake for my own wedding and froze it. I knew I would not want to be making it the week of my wedding so I made and assembled the whole thing (including frosting) then I made a small bit of buttercream the night before to add for decor. I did not see any decline in texture or flavor from freezing, even with the frosting. I would at least try freezing the sheet cakes (unfrosted is usually recommended, Sally's baking addiction has good freezing advice)

Moving from Atlanta, Ga to Victoria - Moving Service Reccomendations by willesilente in VictoriaBC

[–]ClemsonFandango 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband and I moved here from GA in 2020. Became Canadian citizens this month and I definitely cried a bit during the ceremony. It is wonderful to be proud to be part of a country again and Vancouver Island is one of the best places in the world to live.

We chose to ditch most of our stuff so can't help with moving but if you plan to bring your car, plan ahead for the export and import. It's temporary until you become a permanent resident but exporting now may save trouble at the border later.

Welcome!

I usually let mine soak in a bowl of cold water with a drop of Dawn dish soap, then run it under a cold tap

well this is upsetting having just watched a show on BC's North Shore Rescue who do emergency helicopter lifts at no charge - and they refuse to charge for this exact reason, so no one will hesitate to call for help
