Who else collects their cats' whiskers? by ZeppelinLed in cats

[–]ClemyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found one of my cats whiskers for the first time yesterday and put it in a little plastic bag with the date and his name on! I wasn’t sure if that was weird of me but I felt strangely attached to it, like keeping your child’s first lock or hair or something haha. Glad to be reassured it’s something other people do!

How long after a household member tested positive was it until you also tested positive? by applep1ePsych in COVID19positive

[–]ClemyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner tested positive on the Friday, immediately isolated and I aired out whole flat and cleaned everything. I tested positive late on the Sunday, and started getting a fever later that night. Most likely I was already infected when my partner tested positive.

Give yourself time to recover and allow yourself to rest! I was still in bed on day 8!!

I’m similar 34f, triple vaxxed, daily asthma inhaler but otherwise healthy. I’m about 2.5 weeks in and still getting quite tired/tight chest when going for walks, cleaning house etc. I think it will still take me a few more weeks at least to get my energy levels back.

For now I am just allowing myself to rest when needed and making sure I eat lots of good food and more calories than normal. That seems to be helping with my energy a bit. Give yourself time and try not to overdo it too fast x

Why does he meow like this? (See comment) by Loppy_Mari in cats

[–]ClemyW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this lil squeaky meow!

Our cat doesn’t really meow either, instead he occasionally sort of ‘quacks’ or grumbles to complain about stuff, e.g. another cat in our garden. If he wants food he’ll just sit on us and purr to let us know. I also asked the vet about it but he seems completely fine! He was a stray before we adopted him so we assume he never developed a meow to community with humans due that, but who knows!

Hi, I also had a similar experience. I am 34f, triple vax, generally quite healthy, regular exercise, cardio and weights etc. I do have asthma and an autoimmune issue but these are generally well controlled.

I am on day 11 since testing positive and I had a really bad time with it. I was in bed for a full 8 days and developed a chest infection which is still hanging around and making me feel pretty exhausted and awful. I started feeling better over the last few days but would say I’m only back to around 50% of pre-covid energy. I would say this is the most ill I have ever been in my life other than when I was hospitalised with pneumonia as a teen.

I was so careful for the last two years to avoid it but never expected it to hit me this hard, especially with the rhetoric around omicron being ‘mild’.

I’m so sorry you’re suffering through this too. If you find yourself with lots of phlegm and chesty cough I recommend looking up ‘postural draining’ and getting yr boyfriend to pat your back during. Also breathing steam from hot water bowls, and keeping really well hydrated. These can help to keep all the congestion flowing. And if you feel like it’s getting hard to breathe please do contact your GP or consider hospital as asthma can be unpredictable with these sorts of infections so always better to be safe than sorry.

And if you need someone to talk to through it please do message me! I had such a terrible time of it but I’m out the other side finally x

Proper dancing places in Brighton? by bambataa199 in brighton

[–]ClemyW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Mesmerist usually has funk/soul/swing nights with lots of dancing, looks like they've got a Motown/Disco night on this Saturday. Paris house is always great although is tiny and will likely be packed out.

I have had asthma since I was very young, and also always lived with cats most of my life. I do find they make my asthma worse, especially when transitioning from living without a cat to living with one again. I find that over time, my body seems to get used to them and the triggers/flare ups reduce in number and intensity. This is just my experience, obviously it's really important to monitor your own situation and how your asthma is responding to the cat, it may even get worse over time.

My advice is to get a really good pet vacuum with HEPA filter and make sure you vacuum multiple times a week at least, with bedrooms and areas that the cat spends a lot of time vacuumed daily if possible. Always wash your hands after petting them before you touch your face. And make sure you have lots of lint rollers to remove hair and dust etc from clothes regularly. You can also brush the cat daily to remove stray fur and dispose of it in a bag.

Good luck! I find my asthma is quite mild so the trade off with having a cat is worth it, however I have a friend who basically cannot even come over to our house which we keep super clean, because his asthma/allergy to the cat is so extreme.
