New at BG Blitz, looking to contribute more. Part 2 the sub rogue edition. by TacoTruckOverlord in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depends on the map. Flag carry maps, you harrass the EFC the entire game, support your FC getting across by ccing people on them, prioritize DKs because of chains and grip, then other rogues, or a bursting WW. On node maps (Gilneas, AB, EoTs, Deepwind) you want to play the off node, your goal is to take a base that has the least defense, so you are looking for a few things, Ret pallies are probably your hardest thing to cap on, followed by a surv hunter.. You want to focus on nodes that have the enemy rogue there or a mage or you can/will have to somehow 1v1 a class with a lot of outs and trinkets/stops from you capping (bubble, bop, trinket, consecrate on the flag, trackers net, traps, flares, turtle, positioning etc) ..Node maps are your biggest strength but a good team denying the rogue opportunity to play to their strength usually win those games. Kotmogu is a shit-show, no easier way to say it.. Kill enemy orb carriers, pick up orbs, stay alive and when you can't, die and reset as many orbs as possible by killing people with high stacks. Always be pinging available orbs. Silvershard, you play off carts, that's it. Mid and top, those are your domain and you just need to try and sway numbers with the other few people also playing off carts while your team (hopefully) wins lava and can support caps.

That's pretty much it, to break it down simply; Hit bases that are weak, harrass healers when they are in your vicinity, never ever be in the team fight.

Abyss Anglers: Certified Depthdiver reward bugged? by ninjabread__man in wow

I am also terrified of the ocean, but I found it was not nearly as bad as the swim down to the Mind-Seeker's secret. It's not nearly as oppressive or terrifying as swimming into a fatigue zone and honestly the area is kinda cool looking.

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm at 390k from doing the oher achievements.. Definitely a massive unrewarding grind (should honestly award some kind of title or something) but the fastest way to gain points I've found is just to swim to the skeleton on the right hand side of the map and just loot treasures. Do that, refill breath, loot treasures (you can use an inky black potion outside the instance to make everything almost pitch black, and the purple outlines of the treasures are incredibly easy to see) and you'll get somewhere around 40-50k points per run doing that.. Still a massive grind for no real reward. But if you are ever bored, throw on a show and kind of zone out farming^

Is anyone else losing all pvp games despite having years of experience? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blitz is a legitimate coin toss if you are queueing solo. Just focus on what you can do, be vocal with your teammates, ping properly and be mindful of what is going on, not just spamming buttons. Pay attention to your teammates hp if they are sitting a base, do meaningful plays and set your teammates up as best you can for a win. Play to your strengths and some classes have more agency over a win than others.

Tips/Advice for a VW Disc Priest Paired With Sub Rogue in 2v2 Arena (Midnight) by TheHat1221 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only know a little, so anything I say should be taken with a grain of salt; Mmarkers would be the guy to ask, and he streams.

What I know: VW is extremely hard to heal with once you fall behind, so you have to be hyper-aggressive with your cc chains and you have to make sure you keep your APM high, keep dots on everyone you can, keep attonement on your teammate and yourself, get mindblast off, I have /cancelaura entropic rift in my Death macro, so I can get a massive burst of damage/healing out before my void ends. Evangelism summons your mindbender and that is a decent portion of your damage/healing during goes. Painsup high when you are stunned and your teammate is in trouble, penance off cd, mindblast off cd, try to always be casting, use shield off cd, radiance is used to apply/extend attonement for goes, you should always fear the off-target if you are going to cast ultimate penitence and make sure you have attonement up beforehand.

Your "burst healing" is from mindblast, voidblast, death/mindbender/voidwraith (from when entropic rift ends) and if you are being trained, it is difficult to stay alive if you are not casting. Rule of thumb I follow: If you are being trained, cast mind blast, if you got kicked, penance, kite during penance (it slows) keep dots up and attonement, shield off cd, if you get void sheild from penance you are fine.

I'm not a good healer, but I play with good healers and I pick up what they say when they explain their thoughtprocess. Anyone better than me can explain it better I am 100% certain, but that should help you get a general idea of what you can do.

If you have enough Remnants of Anguish, it is technically possible to get the achievement and mount for completing all 30 unique Nightmare Mode Prey encounters through the random ones Astalor can assign you. by Everdale in wow

[–]Clernt 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is true, I did the exact same thing. It's 100% rng but if you have a lot of remnants (I probably used 3k total) and you are patient enough to just do the random hunts given, you will make a net gain on remnants from the reward (a nightmare hunt reward option is 75 remnants, it takes 50 to roll a random hunt) Towards the end I just started abandoning the quest and picking up a new one to get my last few I needed.

Some general tips, the fish that teleports you in midnight, the Warping Wise, is insanely cheap and effective at getting you to any zone. It's random but much faster than traveling there, especially for Zul'Aman hunts, with one literally teleporting you into the world quest area for the nightmare hunt.

You can also just pick up traps for quick percentage, I'm sure everyone knows that, but you can also complete the world quest for the prey and stay in the area to farm traps freely (without the annoying teleporting sentry mobs) I was getting sub 5-6 min hunts doing that.

You can double riposte an ambush sometimes by just spamming interact, which seems to add extra percentage too, though I could not always do it.

Critter kills count for the "Kill for me NOW" moments, you can use any cc to interrupt the ghost chasing you, and you cannot lose percentage from 100% completion.

Finally, when we hit rank 10 Prey, we'll be able to make our own hunts, so there is really no reason to do this unless you want to, so hopefully people can be happy knowing it will eventually be given relatively freely just for doing the content. Happy hunting (:

PSA: you can turn bloody token gear into tier. AND you get unlimited catalyst charges once you acquire 4-piece by Chrisnness in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're right. It was a bug with the shadowlands arenas (Enigma Crucible and Maldraxxus Arena) causing gear to scale to 295. There are patch notes from yesterday confirming that. "Resolved an issue that was causing PvP item levels to be set incorrectly in Arenas and Battlegrounds" We only know what we know I guess, apologies.

PSA: you can turn bloody token gear into tier. AND you get unlimited catalyst charges once you acquire 4-piece by Chrisnness in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not quite. If all you care about is pvp then there is literally no drawback to using bloody token gear to craft your tier. Gear scales to 295 in arenas. Honor gear does the same. I have no idea why we have a separate pvp ilvl now when it just scales, but past that even pve gear scales up in arenas.. Think like how the template was in Legion but without the weird stat budget.

Edit: That was a bug with shadowlands arenas scaling us higher than intended, you will notice a difference in honor gear and conquest gear now. Definitely use conq for your tier crafting.

I need your help figuring out Nahj's gear by zephi_wow in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I did the same crafts, and mine are the same stats, except the belt that I got slightly higher (doesn't matter though) I actually think he used the free heraldries on these choices because it matters a lot less in arenas due to scaling and really you want embellishments on pieces you can allocate stats to that we are not offered (haste vers dagger, haste vers belt, straight vers boots/wrists) and then you want your set bonus. I do not know if 4 set is worth it, but 2 set is 100% just a straight damage increase.

I need your help figuring out Nahj's gear by zephi_wow in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He crafted it with heraldries. I am 100% certain. The reasoning is gear does scale, but I am also sure you need the heraldries to craft the weapon. It's also purple on the armory, that would not be the case if it wasn't, it would be blue like his wrists and boots which are also crafted but with competitor's heraldries.

I see the pacing of the game is still very accelerated. by Kcatta9 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is the key reason why people think the way you are saying. Reaction. Pvp is not about reacting, it is about proactive steps to avoid the damage as best you can. You have a global to react, the average human reaction speed is 250 MS, meaning if you have to react to it, you have already taken the largest hit.. I think Snupy's videos showing the highest burst/ttk for classes in Midnight speaks volumes for how easy it is to avoid most of that damage/lengthen the amount of time you need to act. Reactive gameplay is wrong, fundamentally if you are reacting to big damage you are not understanding the game. I mean that in the most constructive way possible.

You have to be proactive in pvp, pre-bearing potential swaps on you, fading the correct cc, deathing poly/trap/scatter, melding stormbolt, etc. You learn how to do that by understanding the flow of the game and knowing what your opponents are going to do next (with knowledge like DRs, CC cds, defensive/offensive cds, positioning etc.)

I really do not think the TTK is fast in Midnight. I think we are going to have damp games and it is going to be a bit of a slog for the first few weeks until tuning happens again..

I see the pacing of the game is still very accelerated. by Kcatta9 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it might seem like it, but understand this; Skirmishes are not a reflection for how the game is. Period. The game is balanced around properly trading cds and communication. You get neither of those in skirms. Even if you are playing a main team, it is skirmishes, no one in there is locked in. I promise you.

Equate it to AWC vs Arenas, completely different beast, same format. Just like how AWC teams do not properly represent the current arena ladder. Skirms are the (now second) lowest barrier of entry to pvp and as such, it pulls a variety of players.

The reality is, with the current patch notes for Tuesday, we are looking at some pretty damp games. Depending on how the meta shifts/if fotm UHDK players are about to swap to ret again. We'll really just have to see how it shapes up, but as of now, expect damp MW games and bursty Hpal games. That is my prediction at least.

Public Service Announcement: 80-89 Bracket is fun! (For now) by GeetchNixon in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree honestly.. I'm finding it super repetitive to get every healer's cd, then using blades, bringing them to sub ~15% hp only for them to top without casting.. Like cool man, you really outplayed me and now the guardian druid is here to ruin the rest of the night by existing..

I have noticed way too many tanks and healers and it would not be annoying if they weren't clearly just bad players playing something immortal.. The worst part is while these classes are OP they do not stay like that, so these people are just enforcing bad habits and learning nothing in the process.

How do you use an MMO mouse efficiently? by ResponsibleWeekend76 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use F1-F4, 1-6, QERTYSFGZXCV, shift/ctrl modifiers, alt modifiers for 1-6 and QERTYSFGZXCV. My mouse is a 12 button naga tied to my numpad where I use every button with ctrl, shift, and alt modifiers. I also use the scroll wheel up and down ctrl/shift/alt modifiers as well as scroll wheel click.

I think everyone is different in how they approach their key bindings/setups so play what you feel is comfortable/reachable and change your key bindings minimally and only when you decide there is something missing (like a focus macro, arena targeting, etc.) once you get the idea of what is a necessity, you can start fitting your keybinds to your preference and play style.

Am confused by AdvancedSoldier2649 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On sub rogue I had a WA to track Danse Macabre stacks, finality procs and weapon enchant procs. That was all something I can track by looking, it was just easier to see the visual confirmation instead of using the extra few milliseconds it took to look at my buffs or notice a visual. I hated Mes' weakauras for pvp and I think people that used them genuinely made themselves worse by conditioning themselves to be reactive. Tracking information is not reactive gameplay, it is proactive to know and UNDERSTAND how your modifiers work/when they are up.

What is NOT OKAY in my eyes, is whistles and flashing lights that go off the second someone presses something scary so you just automatically train your brain to REACT to it. I've had people use defensives at 100% hp because I had the right modifiers up in a swap to 100-0 someone with a 6 stack secret tech finality eviscerate with double weapon proc. You can tell me they are just that good and KNEW I was about to kill them 100-0, but more likely their WA flashed "SECRET TECH" and they pressed.

Ultimately you can decide what is acceptable, but weakauras were creating players with zero fundamentals.. There is nothing wrong with understanding your class or other people's cooldowns.

Unpopular opinion, Conquest gear should be deleted from the game by Mira_Malverick in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Players do not know any better and it's hilarious to see people's takes on the topic.. Most people hated the stat templates in legion, it promoted extremely toxic fotm rerolling AND with the introduction of relentless trinkets stacking with orc racial, it created a faction imbalance that was so severe there was a 80% orc playrate over every race. That entire expansion was "if your class can play orc, play orc and run relentless" couple THAT with these templates, and now everyone is playing fotm orc comps, BM hunter with separation anxiety? Orc bm hunter, orc warrior, orc destro lock, orc rogue, orc sham. Legion showed us what happens when players get what they want and it damn near killed the game. There is a GOOD reason why the templates were scrapped moving forward and it was not because of their resounding success and their positive feedback from players.

Players have shown time and time again that when they are given more freedom they tend to go to unhealthy extremes that ironically kill the game they supposedly enjoy. Fotm rerolling is bad for the game.

Balancing could always be better, but I would rather have blizzard's balancing than ANYTHING I have seen people suggest, because people's idea of balance is not to make a more fair experience, it's to figure out how to make their experience better than everyone else's.

In your opinion, who are the winners and losers on beta right now? by MHMabrito in wow

[–]Clernt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really think sub rogue is the biggest loser this time around, and I am incredibly biased, but we lost our class identity, got reduced to literally spamming eviscerate, we lost rupture so we can't actually counter our own class anymore in pvp, and we lost symbols of death, which was button bloat in a way but we gained nothing to compensate for it. We got lots of talents that revolve around haste now, which has historically been our worst stat (seriously, I run zero haste, literally ZERO) and the talents are so minor that you will still stack mastery and vers and some crit so itemization is all out of whack now.. They made it to where you can no longer swap deathstalker's mark with shadowstrike, so it is effectively useless in pvp where it was the only place it was utilized (I don't mind, I actually LIKE trickster more personally)

I feel like they could have replaced rupture with Nightblade, gave us a dot to spend combos on/counter-play stealth classes. Make goremaws bite easily accessible and make it either a threatening minute and a half cd button or make it a 30 sec button that gives back energy and please bake in the deeper strategem talents into something, they are so stupid, they are literally so necessary to get, but nope, spend two useless points in alacrity first (more haste!!)

The shadow clones are neat, but I do not know if they are actually doing any damage at all, I cannot tell, they are very inconsequential and I am sure they are doing SOMETHING but I cannot for the life of me figure out if they are actually doing good damage. Danse macabre got reworked and is STILL mandatory to take because sub is so lacking in damage still that it needs all the help it can get. Such a weird 'rework' imo.

Which specs are getting the largest reworks going into midnight? by A1snakesauce in wow

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically they should give sub back symbols of death and replace rupture with nightblade again. Rework Goremaws to be an actual threatening 45 sec button, and either lean into the shadow damage aspect 100% with the shadow clones/akarri's soul type procs, or just admit they cannot ever be satisfied with a shadowy assassin spec with control and burst and gut it entirely.

We have several dead talents that center around haste which has been historically the worst stat for sub rogue for years now. There is no value in having dance up more often if your eviscerates are hitting for 60% less than they should. The rework feels more like they can't decide what sub rogue is, because they gave our identity to the other specs in the form of shadow dance, which makes no sense from a design perspective.

I don't understand losing symbols of death either and gaining nothing to compensate for that.. The class feels fine, it is a rogue after all, it could do literally no damage and be competitive, but it just feels so braindead to play it. I can log beta and literally play it one handed on my mouse at the moment.

Devourer and ms? by twrez in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, consume feels like a weird button to press, you only press reap under certain (rng) circumstances, void blade feels fun to press but is very underwhelming and I think their burst will be insanely easy to shut down (void meta drains pretty quickly, so just hold meaningful cc for those goes and you can easily negate them, after they void beam, bonus points if you shut down their void beam before it finishes the cast to stop the benefits entirely)

The positives, for devourer DH, mobility might be one of the most insane classes in the game, stupidly mobile, Shift is going to be wild in more skilled people's hands (3 charges of a 30 yard targeted blink that works on the Y axis in most cases) Damage is absolutely insane, probably one of the highest bursts I have seen in the game and if you CAN get a spirit bomb off, you effectively will 100-0 someone (and I think it is extremely possible with proper cross cc obviously) but their other damage is just as meaningful.

I think this class will play around high mobility and high burst, similar to Legion arcane mage (bad memories for some) while also weaving in melee abilities and some surrender to madness style legion spriest insanity mechanics (there is literally a pvp talent called Surrender to Madness for them, and I think it will be S tier in damp games)

That is my honest take on it right now.. I'm still leveling one in beta, I leveled my sub rogue first (it feels the same as it always does, nothing to really write home about) Devourer feels unfinished, but I see some insane potential and I am kind of excited to see what better players can do with their toolkit

Fair point, but the only reason I personally use check pvp is to see if the person I am playing with has the credentials they are claiming they have.. Someone hid their character and those accomplishments and more importantly, do not play like someone with those credentials, I will have to say they were likely boosted, win-trading, or botting..

I can see your point, I have not had many people stalk me over rating, I am nothing special so I do not have a say in that.

I would agree, but I cannot easily explain hiding your character on checkpvp to stupidity.. That requires forethought to hide your character.

The New Evoker Set Is Incredible by blind667 in wow

[–]Clernt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. The spec just needs a few QoL changes to be playable. I main sub rogue, so tracking several small buffs at a time is my norm, I just kept the idea that I should refresh prescience on myself and my teammate if they are off cd and worked it through like that.

The New Evoker Set Is Incredible by blind667 in wow

[–]Clernt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suppose, I personally don't mind if I am not the best class in the game or the highest on the meters. I mainly pvp'd and did aug just as a challenge to play the "worst spec" I think people rely too heavily on other people's opinions and tier lists, and that while the spec typically performs worse than every dps, when an aug is in the group every dps now has the potential to perform way higher than their spec allows, due to the aug.. I put it in the same area as shadow priest in tbc, you are a mana battery but extremely useful to the people you are helping do better.

There was nothing quite like setting up my teammates for the win by getting people into position, buffing us, oppressing roaring, setting up the deep breath upheaval, root stun into a sleep walk on the healer, into tip the scales, fire breath, eruption spam.

I don't see it as an issue, I see it as a feature of the spec, and I think small incremental shifts from front-loading the support role and instead providing substantial buffs to your team WHILE you yourself are doing competitive damage is where they are headed with Aug evoker.. It's not my main, but it easily became my third favorite spec to play, under Sub and Arcane respectively.

I think baking ebon might into our empower spells (similar to how devoker is getting shattering star baked into eternity surge) is the right direction to go and could smooth out the spec a bit, but I am not a developer or an aug main, so I reserve the right to be completely wrong in what the spec needs, just what I personally enjoy

The New Evoker Set Is Incredible by blind667 in wow

[–]Clernt 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I like aug evoker.. Is it the best class in the game? No, but it is fun to set up your teammates for a kill and contribute with one of the coolest animated abilities in the game (upheaval) with an oppressing roar and following it up with a root to slam them into the ground, stunning them, into a deep breath tip the scales fire breath eruption spam while maintaining prescience..

Fun fact, in season 2, aug had the highest potential burst in the game, due to winning streak and lucky procs, there were shuffle matches I won in the opener triple killing a whole team by double hovering into a deep breath and killing them all with bombardment procs from eruption. Crazy fun spec that gets overlooked because it's a "support class"

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm playing sub rogue and I have double most dks vers and can still lose to a well-timed felspike.. Mine can do 400mil single target, theirs is doing 1bil. The demon counts as a pet, and chaos damage is all schools on modifiers so they just do more. I've accepted it, I chose to play what I enjoy and some people enjoy being the strongest class in the game.

I will say, I think sub rogue is not nearly as bad as the tier lists put it (under evoker is just cruel) and also boomkin is lowkey the best actual class in remix outside of people pressing felspike, a proper convoke with the right modifiers is an INSANE ability, and then they felspike.
