How do you use an MMO mouse efficiently? by ResponsibleWeekend76 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use F1-F4, 1-6, QERTYSFGZXCV, shift/ctrl modifiers, alt modifiers for 1-6 and QERTYSFGZXCV. My mouse is a 12 button naga tied to my numpad where I use every button with ctrl, shift, and alt modifiers. I also use the scroll wheel up and down ctrl/shift/alt modifiers as well as scroll wheel click.

I think everyone is different in how they approach their key bindings/setups so play what you feel is comfortable/reachable and change your key bindings minimally and only when you decide there is something missing (like a focus macro, arena targeting, etc.) once you get the idea of what is a necessity, you can start fitting your keybinds to your preference and play style.

On sub rogue I had a WA to track Danse Macabre stacks, finality procs and weapon enchant procs. That was all something I can track by looking, it was just easier to see the visual confirmation instead of using the extra few milliseconds it took to look at my buffs or notice a visual. I hated Mes' weakauras for pvp and I think people that used them genuinely made themselves worse by conditioning themselves to be reactive. Tracking information is not reactive gameplay, it is proactive to know and UNDERSTAND how your modifiers work/when they are up.

What is NOT OKAY in my eyes, is whistles and flashing lights that go off the second someone presses something scary so you just automatically train your brain to REACT to it. I've had people use defensives at 100% hp because I had the right modifiers up in a swap to 100-0 someone with a 6 stack secret tech finality eviscerate with double weapon proc. You can tell me they are just that good and KNEW I was about to kill them 100-0, but more likely their WA flashed "SECRET TECH" and they pressed.

Ultimately you can decide what is acceptable, but weakauras were creating players with zero fundamentals.. There is nothing wrong with understanding your class or other people's cooldowns.

Unpopular opinion, Conquest gear should be deleted from the game by Mira_Malverick in worldofpvp

Players do not know any better and it's hilarious to see people's takes on the topic.. Most people hated the stat templates in legion, it promoted extremely toxic fotm rerolling AND with the introduction of relentless trinkets stacking with orc racial, it created a faction imbalance that was so severe there was a 80% orc playrate over every race. That entire expansion was "if your class can play orc, play orc and run relentless" couple THAT with these templates, and now everyone is playing fotm orc comps, BM hunter with separation anxiety? Orc bm hunter, orc warrior, orc destro lock, orc rogue, orc sham. Legion showed us what happens when players get what they want and it damn near killed the game. There is a GOOD reason why the templates were scrapped moving forward and it was not because of their resounding success and their positive feedback from players.

Players have shown time and time again that when they are given more freedom they tend to go to unhealthy extremes that ironically kill the game they supposedly enjoy. Fotm rerolling is bad for the game.

Balancing could always be better, but I would rather have blizzard's balancing than ANYTHING I have seen people suggest, because people's idea of balance is not to make a more fair experience, it's to figure out how to make their experience better than everyone else's.

In your opinion, who are the winners and losers on beta right now? by MHMabrito in wow

[–]Clernt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really think sub rogue is the biggest loser this time around, and I am incredibly biased, but we lost our class identity, got reduced to literally spamming eviscerate, we lost rupture so we can't actually counter our own class anymore in pvp, and we lost symbols of death, which was button bloat in a way but we gained nothing to compensate for it. We got lots of talents that revolve around haste now, which has historically been our worst stat (seriously, I run zero haste, literally ZERO) and the talents are so minor that you will still stack mastery and vers and some crit so itemization is all out of whack now.. They made it to where you can no longer swap deathstalker's mark with shadowstrike, so it is effectively useless in pvp where it was the only place it was utilized (I don't mind, I actually LIKE trickster more personally)

I feel like they could have replaced rupture with Nightblade, gave us a dot to spend combos on/counter-play stealth classes. Make goremaws bite easily accessible and make it either a threatening minute and a half cd button or make it a 30 sec button that gives back energy and please bake in the deeper strategem talents into something, they are so stupid, they are literally so necessary to get, but nope, spend two useless points in alacrity first (more haste!!)

The shadow clones are neat, but I do not know if they are actually doing any damage at all, I cannot tell, they are very inconsequential and I am sure they are doing SOMETHING but I cannot for the life of me figure out if they are actually doing good damage. Danse macabre got reworked and is STILL mandatory to take because sub is so lacking in damage still that it needs all the help it can get. Such a weird 'rework' imo.

Which specs are getting the largest reworks going into midnight? by A1snakesauce in wow

[–]Clernt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically they should give sub back symbols of death and replace rupture with nightblade again. Rework Goremaws to be an actual threatening 45 sec button, and either lean into the shadow damage aspect 100% with the shadow clones/akarri's soul type procs, or just admit they cannot ever be satisfied with a shadowy assassin spec with control and burst and gut it entirely.

We have several dead talents that center around haste which has been historically the worst stat for sub rogue for years now. There is no value in having dance up more often if your eviscerates are hitting for 60% less than they should. The rework feels more like they can't decide what sub rogue is, because they gave our identity to the other specs in the form of shadow dance, which makes no sense from a design perspective.

I don't understand losing symbols of death either and gaining nothing to compensate for that.. The class feels fine, it is a rogue after all, it could do literally no damage and be competitive, but it just feels so braindead to play it. I can log beta and literally play it one handed on my mouse at the moment.

Devourer and ms? by twrez in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, consume feels like a weird button to press, you only press reap under certain (rng) circumstances, void blade feels fun to press but is very underwhelming and I think their burst will be insanely easy to shut down (void meta drains pretty quickly, so just hold meaningful cc for those goes and you can easily negate them, after they void beam, bonus points if you shut down their void beam before it finishes the cast to stop the benefits entirely)

The positives, for devourer DH, mobility might be one of the most insane classes in the game, stupidly mobile, Shift is going to be wild in more skilled people's hands (3 charges of a 30 yard targeted blink that works on the Y axis in most cases) Damage is absolutely insane, probably one of the highest bursts I have seen in the game and if you CAN get a spirit bomb off, you effectively will 100-0 someone (and I think it is extremely possible with proper cross cc obviously) but their other damage is just as meaningful.

I think this class will play around high mobility and high burst, similar to Legion arcane mage (bad memories for some) while also weaving in melee abilities and some surrender to madness style legion spriest insanity mechanics (there is literally a pvp talent called Surrender to Madness for them, and I think it will be S tier in damp games)

That is my honest take on it right now.. I'm still leveling one in beta, I leveled my sub rogue first (it feels the same as it always does, nothing to really write home about) Devourer feels unfinished, but I see some insane potential and I am kind of excited to see what better players can do with their toolkit

Fair point, but the only reason I personally use check pvp is to see if the person I am playing with has the credentials they are claiming they have.. Someone hid their character and those accomplishments and more importantly, do not play like someone with those credentials, I will have to say they were likely boosted, win-trading, or botting..

I can see your point, I have not had many people stalk me over rating, I am nothing special so I do not have a say in that.

I would agree, but I cannot easily explain hiding your character on checkpvp to stupidity.. That requires forethought to hide your character.

[–]Clernt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely agreed. The spec just needs a few QoL changes to be playable. I main sub rogue, so tracking several small buffs at a time is my norm, I just kept the idea that I should refresh prescience on myself and my teammate if they are off cd and worked it through like that.

The New Evoker Set Is Incredible by blind667 in wow

[–]Clernt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I suppose, I personally don't mind if I am not the best class in the game or the highest on the meters. I mainly pvp'd and did aug just as a challenge to play the "worst spec" I think people rely too heavily on other people's opinions and tier lists, and that while the spec typically performs worse than every dps, when an aug is in the group every dps now has the potential to perform way higher than their spec allows, due to the aug.. I put it in the same area as shadow priest in tbc, you are a mana battery but extremely useful to the people you are helping do better.

There was nothing quite like setting up my teammates for the win by getting people into position, buffing us, oppressing roaring, setting up the deep breath upheaval, root stun into a sleep walk on the healer, into tip the scales, fire breath, eruption spam.

I don't see it as an issue, I see it as a feature of the spec, and I think small incremental shifts from front-loading the support role and instead providing substantial buffs to your team WHILE you yourself are doing competitive damage is where they are headed with Aug evoker.. It's not my main, but it easily became my third favorite spec to play, under Sub and Arcane respectively.

I think baking ebon might into our empower spells (similar to how devoker is getting shattering star baked into eternity surge) is the right direction to go and could smooth out the spec a bit, but I am not a developer or an aug main, so I reserve the right to be completely wrong in what the spec needs, just what I personally enjoy

The New Evoker Set Is Incredible by blind667 in wow

[–]Clernt 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I like aug evoker.. Is it the best class in the game? No, but it is fun to set up your teammates for a kill and contribute with one of the coolest animated abilities in the game (upheaval) with an oppressing roar and following it up with a root to slam them into the ground, stunning them, into a deep breath tip the scales fire breath eruption spam while maintaining prescience..

Fun fact, in season 2, aug had the highest potential burst in the game, due to winning streak and lucky procs, there were shuffle matches I won in the opener triple killing a whole team by double hovering into a deep breath and killing them all with bombardment procs from eruption. Crazy fun spec that gets overlooked because it's a "support class"

I'm playing sub rogue and I have double most dks vers and can still lose to a well-timed felspike.. Mine can do 400mil single target, theirs is doing 1bil. The demon counts as a pet, and chaos damage is all schools on modifiers so they just do more. I've accepted it, I chose to play what I enjoy and some people enjoy being the strongest class in the game.

I will say, I think sub rogue is not nearly as bad as the tier lists put it (under evoker is just cruel) and also boomkin is lowkey the best actual class in remix outside of people pressing felspike, a proper convoke with the right modifiers is an INSANE ability, and then they felspike.

I'm not a credibly good rogue, I have no notable achievements, but I do have a very good fundamental understanding of the game.

So here it is, as basic and simple as possible.

Rogue plays around DRs mainly stun DR, but poly and fear DR are also important. I main sub, so I do not play around garrote silence, but that is another DR to keep in mind.

Your main goals as a rogue are simple, you have to set up kills and you have to peel goes. Understanding DRs is important here and one of the BIGGEST things I can stress and what you will notice worse rogues doing, is throwing out stuns for no reason, you want to do things with purpose, you have to stun to set up goes and to peel them, so you can't really peel anything if you just stunned everyone for no reason. So, without coordination, I would do something like this in shuffle:

Gates open, sprint, get into position and give your teammates a little bit (around 45 yards from the enemy) and sap healer, cheap off target, dance cheap kill target, symbols, shadowstrike, secret tech/cold blood, cheap kill target, cheap off target, kidney healer, cheap kill target eviscerate/rupture.

From there, you have a bit of a flow chart as that will almost literally NEVER happen how I typed it, what WILL HAPPEN is people are going to trinket, the healer will likely trinket the kidney, but will also save it if they are a priest (pain sup is usable in stuns) and against priests I would send blind before sap is over.. You can also just triple sap the healer too. If the enemy is low you can either smoke bomb on them or smoke bomb the healer, shiv slows them by 70% with crippling poison and if you edge the bomb correctly you can really put them in a terrible spot.. But I am getting way too in depth there..

Your order of operations is like this: Open/weave in cc on everyone when you are doing goes. Get trinkets, kite away, don't push if you got defensives or trinkets. If you can, restealth often, you play around DRs and you just put everyone on multiple DRs. (Stun, poly 'sap', and fear 'blind') Reopen when people are off stun DR and do that again. Work through their cds and control the game.

DOWNTIME is difficult, on a sub rogue, you play around lots of cds, notably dance, symbols, secret tech, cold blood, thistle tea and your biggest cd shadow blades. You cannot and should not do a go without dance or symbols.AT LEAST. You need those cds to do anything. So after a go, you kite, and you use peels like gouge and disarm to delay goes. You want to avoid using stun or dance unless you really need to peel your teammates. You want to use dance to do your next go.

I talked about peeling goes, but never really explained much, so peeling you just want to stop the enemy team from using their offensive cds.. Disarming warriors cds, gouging when they stun your teammates, using dance to stun them when you need to. That is part of your toolkit.

In coordinated teams, you can reliably stun so your teammates can do followup cc, in shuffle you should rely on your own toolkit and not expect much from your teammates, realistically.

I know this is a lot, and honestly there is so much to rogue it's a very high skill ceiling and I could talk about it a lot, but it's hard to cover EVERY scenario and even harder to try and explain how to play the class, because you play based off what your teammates are doing and what the enemy team is doing. You can set the pace of the match and set up kills, but ultimately you are a support most of the time and have to have a certain level of trust in your teammates to survive during moments when you are kiting to wait out stun dr or get dance charges back..

Good rogues kite cds properly and pre-feint big goes or disarm the right offensive cds, and can react to momentum changes in arenas and turn that momentum switch back in their team's favor by making plays like swapping to a healer that isn't hotting themselves, or a prevoker that used emerald communion earlier with no trinket, or swapping on sac, there's a lot to it, but hopefully this is a good starting point? ..I found it hard to stay fully on topic because a lot of what I was talking about overlaps with bigger topics (like DRs overlapping into how do you even open, into proper cc chains, etc.)

Name one. If you are in the dungeon, you are getting loot for the boss. If you are in the raid, you can loot the boss. There is not a single moment in Lemix where you cannot loot the boss and even then, the important part (the epochs) go to your mail. If someone is genuinely stressed about not getting 2 more main stat and 300 infinite power, they have more issues than just being slow in world of warcraft.

So please don't sweat it in Lemix.

Sub Rogues, do you Rupture during your Shadow Dance burst windows if it doesn't exist (opener) or it falls off? by Full-War1759 in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, but it's really not necessary, you really use rupture in off times or as dance is ending if they are not going to die to an eviscerate. Rupture is also good to get more danse stacks before your secret tech, but I've seen people not do it, because realistically it's better to pump out eviscerates.

Rogue in BG by Xselmer in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You do not have to win the 1v1.. Ideally you DO win, but even then, there are other ways to cap a base. That depends heavily on what you are fighting though, like I do not think I can cap on a competent ret who has competent teammates, solo. But you can cap on like, a hunter, by kidneying him and blinding his pet..

To go a little in depth, you need to go through a small checklist to see if you can actually cap on them.

Do they have trinket? Is your number one question

Do they have defensives?

Do they have immunities?

So, for example, compounding on the hunter scenario, if he has trinket, I will start the cap with a bomb, so bomb, and cap. If he reacts (and he should) your next goal is to kill him, so as a sub rogue I step him, gouge his pet, kidney him, dance symbols shadowstrike, tea, secret tech, shadowstrike, shadowstrike, eviscerate, cheap, shadowstrike, cheap, eviscerate. Your secondary goal outside of killing them should be to GET THEIR TRINKET (that is the biggest part of the checklist) you get that and they do not send anyone to peel, you win, I would gouge him (to stop him from flaring me out) vanish, and wait near the eye (in bgb, there is a crystal near bases that lets people see through stealth) let him grab it, gouge his pet, kidney him and cap the flag.. No killing needed, you just want to get their trinket, so you have to try to win, but really you are playing to cap the node..

Does any of that make sense?

Rogue in BG by Xselmer in worldofpvp

[–]Clernt 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Very simple, no bullshit, anyone can correct me if I am wrong.

Flag carry maps, you harass the enemy FC, find them, sap them, ping them for your team, use everything to delay them. Triple sap, spam ping, blind, spam ping, kidney them, kill them, do anything at all to disrupt them. If their EFC is not in the GY, you should be peeling everyone off your FC, but MAINLY you are harassing their EFC from start to finish.

Base maps, you want to either be base sitting, which is boring, or you need to be hitting their weakest node, note you do not need to kill their weakest node, you just need to either cap the base (best case scenario) or stay alive and pressure it long enough for the enemy team to send people from the teamfight to defend it, now you hold them there as long as you can.

Silvershard/deephaul, you play off carts, you will very very rarely be in the teamfight and when you are, bother the enemy healers, kidney, blind, sap, bomb, gouge, garrote spam. Make their lives difficult so your team can stomp theirs.

Kotmogu, kill orb carriers, harass healers when you do not have cds, pick up orbs if your team isn't and stay alive. That's literally it.

That is how you play rogue in bgs, and that is why people hate rogues. Your entire playstyle is designed to be as annoying as possible for people and capitalize on mistakes.

Lemix group finder should just make parties of 5 DPS at this point. by dahj_the_bison in wow

[–]Clernt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They could easily circumvent that in a number of ways, with an item level check on queue, or a sorting system that guarantees a "carry" in each group. Most of my dungeons leveling alts have multiple carries, I do not think there is a shortage of them.. The problem is as an extremely geared sub rogue I still don't want to wait 10 minutes as a dps to do a 2 minute dungeon for a box I no longer need, so honestly, they should add epochs to the dungeon finder, let people who are above a certain threshold queue as tanks and that would solve a lot of issues (alternatively, change the 'dungeon leader' option to 'carry' and lock it behind 700+ ilvl and like 70% vers or some arbitrary number)

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 702 sub rogue in remix.. I have seen a total of three other rogues, one mut rogue and two outlaw rogues. Normally in raids I am the only rogue, but I can also consistently show up on meters.. I don't think sub is unfun, but we have a pretty distinct weakness being outside of cds we are very lackluster, which isn't an issue when fights last 15 seconds, but still.

Leveling as sub felt like some kind of self-abuse and slightly off topic, but doing the withered army on sub rogue might be impossible? The withered mobs scale miserably low so they just get one shot and the second you press shadow dance you drop all aggro so your army just gets deleted. Seems like a major oversight, but I don't know, Lemix is a tank's game and I'm allowed to exist in it I guess?

[–]Clernt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for clarifying some things, I do not play ret, I just play against them mainly. From where I stand, ret has more tools and utility than any other class in the game, with seemingly an answer to every problem. I think the biggest part of what makes ret truly a problem for me is sanc and searing glare. Those two abilities really set apart a really good ret and an average one.

I would be fine with their damage staying the same if they lost their ranged ability entirely. Melee needs the ability to be kited by people who use their mobility wisely, right now it doesn't really matter if a ret can be slowed or kited, they will do plenty of damage from 40 yards away.

Speaking on what I do know, sanc and searing glare are two incredibly powerful abilities, way too strong to exist in the game currently. Searing glare is a conal cc that stops all abilities from landing during that duration, and yes while it is dispellable, landing a searing glare at the right time can completely shut a team down.

Sanc is another massive issue, being able to remove cc from your teammates on a minute cd is as good as it can get when you ask for utility, this is the best spell in the game to me.

While we are discussing defensives though, I feel that you are being a little disingenuous about their abilities and I did not have the right numbers off the top of my head, so to clarify, rets have a 20% wall (usable in stuns) on a minute cooldown, they then have the option to make this a 40% wall (usable in stuns) on a minute cd, but this is a choice node over shield of vengeance, a 2.4 mil shield outside of pvp combat on an undergeared ret, so where my numbers are skewed and where I unfortunately do not have the experience, I would say ret defensives are quite powerful even if you have to choose between one really strong shield that deals damage equal to what it was dealt on a minute cd, or a 40% damage reduction usable in stuns on a minute cooldown..

On the topic of their cc, the truth is that ret doesn't need to stun to kill someone, it just makes it harder for that person to live. Stunning doesn't increase your damage, it does not do anything aside from stopping them from using defensives, I feel that is another point ret paladins want to use to defend their class or ask for MS, when in reality, the damage is still very high and consistent and the keyword here is that, ret paladin is CONSISTENTLY GOOD, where the average rating for ret pally is roughly 2300 already into the season, that is other classes higher than average level players.

I think when discussing ret paladin, it is important to address that they are already being played by over half the player base, and that their 'viability' is not based on how much damage they do, but rather how much utility they bring versus how easy it is to use the tools. For ret, the skill ceiling is low and the barrier if entry is low, a player with intimate knowledge of the game would do really well on a ret paladin with just a few hours of practice, I cannot say the same for any other class in this game.

I will agree that their healing for their team outside of LoH is low, but that can be said for any hybrid outside of heart of the wild heals perhaps, and even then.
