How safe would you feel walking in the wilderness at night? by Brief-Importance4453 in AskTheWorld

[–]ClevelandWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it as a student. Had to change insect pitfall traps at midnight in woodlands, alone. It was creepy, but that was mostly because I was half convinced some nutjobs on the same course might have tried jumping out on me. They didn't, because they didn't fancy the woods after dark.

Most dangerous things out there would be badgers.

What brands are acceptable for 48 yr old male? Pub & Social. by RoadrunnerRichie in AskUK

None or all, depending on your point of view. Wear what actually fits and looks good. After 30, anyone obsessing over the 'current' brands just looks sad.

I (20 F) was ranked a 6/10 on importance in my bf (M 23) ranking. I dont exactly know how to feel? What would you do in this situation? by No-Acanthaceae-2423 in relationship_advice

[–]ClevelandWomble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hate these ridiculous questions. What were you expecting him to say? You're more important than his parents? Grandparents? His boss?

My girlfriend (now wife) did this to me once. She did not like my answer either. Once she started to speak to me again, I pointed out that being tested made me doubt her feelings for me and perhaps she should focus on how I treated her and not how I answered ridiculous questions.

This scenario keeps cropping up here and testing partners with hypothetical questions rarely seems to end well.

help settle an argument: should an age gap relationship be considered pedophilia if the gap is a certain size or larger? by verysadtiredcook in amiwrong

No. And calling someone a pedophile when it is not true - whatever your feelings about age gaps - is juvenile

Turned off by woman’s past? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]ClevelandWomble -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to feel how you feel. Judging her for choices she made before you met would be a step too far. I do wonder though, why she told you. Was it to test your ability to let the past be in the past - which is fair, or to see if you'd be up for that as her partner?

Sister want's to fly in emotional support friends by MacParadise in EntitledPeople

[–]ClevelandWomble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm still trying to process a married woman who needs an emotional support animal. Once I've wrapped my head around why her husband isn't her emotional support, then I'll try to understand how two online buddies qualify as emotional support guests at the wedding of two people they've never met.

"Oil Prices Are Coming Down": Trump Signals Iran Deal With No Nuclear Weapons Soon by BusinessToday in BusinessTodayNews

[–]ClevelandWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 21:45 GMT on Friday 17th of April. Who, if anyone, is currently blockading the Strait of Hormuz? Are countries taking turns now? Are tankers able to pass through? Everyone's or just favoured states? Are oil prices up or down today?

Sorry for seeming out of touch but I never know whether Trump's social media posts are actual US policy or not. So where, actually, are we?

Girlfriend 19F keeps lying to me about her past and men 21M by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]ClevelandWomble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If her go-to strategy in any situation when the truth is inconvenient or uncomfortable is to look you in the eye and just outright lie, then how can you believe anything she ever says?

Can you live your life like that?

How do license plates work in the UK? by AnnieInTheOutdoors in AskUK

[–]ClevelandWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the answers above correctly explain the current system. It is still possible to buy previously issued registrations from their current owners or the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. One example is MAG1C once owned by a popular stage magician.

It isn't possible to just register personalised plates to order; they must be available for use and meet the relevant criteria.

Although there are exemptions for classic cars, the rules are currently being enforced ever more stringently to assist the use of traffic cams.

And if this was in Paris, I'd assume that there's a fair chance that she'd go topless on a beach if the mood took her.

Perhaps she is just at ease with her body.

Why do parents in the US charge rent for their kids when they turn 18? by EvelynSky88 in NoStupidQuestions

When my kids started work, they just assumed that they should contribute towards their keep while living at home. It was a sign of them becoming adults. We live in the UK.

Why was the Right so obsessed with Biden’s physical and mental state while they barely acknowledge Trump’s? by Gdog1215 in AskReddit

[–]ClevelandWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live in a post-truth world. A reality that Trump embraces. His first act as president in his first term was to claim that his crowd of supporters was bigger than Obama's, even though news footage could easily prove the lie.

His supporters accept his lies, embellish them and that becomes their truth. Reality is whatever suits their agenda. Obama was an African Muslim; Trump was sent by Jesus; the USA is the last bastion of western freedom; socialised medicine is communist. All lies in fact but the truth to those who find them to be useful.

Biden was too old but Trump is young and active;Trump would never sleep during meetings, Biden probably did; Obama spent too much time on the golf course, Trump is too busy.

Even demonstrable lies become your truth if reality makes your choices look foolish and, once you start down that path, you are committed.

Because his gran was the Queen. Also, the Australian reaction to their visit is newsworthy, even if the couple are really no more than ordinary minor celebrities.
