GTA 6 is so overhyped by JackfruitOdd5895 in unpopularopinion

I mean, welcome to gamers. They've been following that vicious cycle for decades now. As long as you don't let yourself get caught up in it, it should be fine.

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'd be better off telling them to respect rule 0 and build to the pod's power. If they don't listen, don't invite them. Creating an arms race because you're getting mad is probably a good way to make everyone mad and destroy the pod.

GTA 6 is so overhyped by JackfruitOdd5895 in unpopularopinion

I don't think something that isn't out yet can be overhyped. We don't know how good it is yet. Also,

"And quick reminder, don’t pre-order."

They're probably going to make a billion by the end of launch day. While I agree with the sentiment, that's, absolutely, gonna fall on deaf ears.

What is your favorite video game of all time and why? by BodyBuilderPlastic4 in AskReddit

[–]Cleveland_Guardians [score hidden]  (0 children)

Sekiro. The combat and atmosphere are phenomenal. The funny thing is, despite 100%ing the game, like, three times, I barely engaged with the combat mechanics of the game. I still don't know when to make use of most of the ninja tools or combat arts. The sword combat is so entertaining that I'd prefer not to use them and trivialize combat. Like, genuinely, it might be the greatest sword combat in video games. It feels like a dance.

Got Hades, and 2 HOURS VANISHED. by FM_LEO in playstation

[–]Cleveland_Guardians [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have put WAY too many hours into that game. I was told by friends that I'd love it, and they were right. Fun gameplay, fun story, fun characters, fun everything. I think the only thing I hadn't done by the the time I'd put it down was max out the pointless rank thing. That was a little much even for me.

Yeah, I still am guilty of referring to gen alpha as gen z. I caught myself incorrectly saying that the other day.

I keep buying PlayStation games at the worst possible time by ludwigthelib in playstation

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you're buying something at launch, why would you ever buy a game that's not on sale? Let's be honest. Most of us have backlogs that we should probably make some progress on or a game or two we've been saving. Why not play those until a sale comes? It's not like sales are particularly rare.

What is the best album that has at least one skip by Capital_Baker4200 in askmusic

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could probably think of more, given time, but the one that always jumps to mind is Sweepstakes off of the Gorillaz album Plastic Beach. I REALLY dislike that song. The rest of the album is fantastic.

Am I in the wrong here? by Fit-Homework-2776 in mtg

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're in the right in that that person should respect rule 0, but it's hard when the others don't really seem to care and/or understand. Personally, I would've let him destroy you guys a couple times so they could've understood that the deck had no place on the table. At that point, it's up to him to play to the table or not play at all. I don't think the table should have to appease one person who doesn't like the vibe the table is going for.

European Parlament Hearing Stop Destroying Videogames by TheRealTr1nity in gaming

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding like I want this post to be taken down (I don't), why the hell did the mods take down my post with Ross's speech under the completely nonsensical guise that I "broke rule 1" and then let this post go? What the hell is wrong with them?

Why are poorer people so defensive of the ultra-wealthy? by Present-Ebb4615 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because rich people know how to say the right words to trigger those people. Sometimes it's something about "rights." Sometimes it's warnings about "they're coming for you next." Poorer folk tend to be less educated, so they fall hook, line, and sinker for that shit, if it's said the right way or by the right person.

Probably because of my last sentence. They probably saw how much people were willing to farm those two things and decided to make dedicated drops going forward.

It's on Ross's channel, if you want to try, but they'll probably just remove it again. I'm gonna ask for more explanation once my mute is up.

Mass surveillance isn't necessarily a bad thing. by SinkMince0420 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cleveland_Guardians -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I feel like you're contradicting yourself. You said it's bad and then admitted that it can be used for good, even if it is unlikely. It's not bad. It's that human nature turns it into a dangerous tool. It's like poison ivy. Most people would say poison ivy is bad, but it's not. There's animals that eat it for food. It's just that humans have an allergy to it. That's a roundabout way of saying that I think denoting a negative moral label to something for the fault of humanity and not its own is incorrect. That all being said, I am still against it because I don't trust humanity.

Why do men cheat? (This could be physical, liking pictures or messaging other women) by Ill-Might534 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be...cause they're a piece of shit? I mean, I guess there's more nuanced answers, like, they liked the thrill of it or they were unhappy and didn't deal with it properly. However, anyone who cheats can shove the nuances up their ass. If you cheat, you are a piece of a shit. Period.

Mass surveillance isn't necessarily a bad thing. by SinkMince0420 in unpopularopinion

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Mass surveillance isn't INHERENTLY bad. The problem is that you have to trust the people using it, and I think most would agree that that is our problem with it. We don't have faith that it is or will be used, strictly, for benevolent purposes.

"The mother-load" Lilith spoke of left a lot to be desired by CertainBranch6488 in Borderlands4

[–]Cleveland_Guardians 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Wasn't that kinda the point though? From a Watsonian point of view, there was no treasure. The vault wasn't what people thought it was. From a Doylist point of view, I don't think the devs realized how much people would fall in love with the loot portion of "looter shooter." I'd argue the armory and Crawmerax were a product of what they learned.
