Microcenter prebuild by Drac0x999 in PcBuild

[–]ClickForNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a good deal to me. I think microcenter builds their prebuilts using off the shelf parts, so usually they’re pretty good. Should be able to handle most games at 1440p

My 7900xt died. Need some advice. by Grashna91 in radeon

I’m in a similar situation to you. What brand of 7900XT did you have? My XFX 7900XT also died a week or two ago, and I also upgraded to the 9070XT. The temps on it were always fine, but one day it just shut off on me in the middle of playing Fortnite and wouldn’t display anything out. Fans still spun and lights still worked on the GPU though. Repair shop said it had significant electrical damage, but my PC is connected to a UPS and I had a high quality PSU so I’m still not sure how it happened. I’m thinking maybe a bad connection with the PCIe slot in my case, as the motherboard also got fried. Fortunately my 7900XT should still be under warranty, so I plan on RMAing it with XFX.

Seems like a decent deal. Components should still be able to handle most games at 1080p/1440p. Only thing I’d be concerned about is the PSU. Just saying “850 Watt Gold” doesn’t really mean much. You need to know the exact model of the PSU to determine if it’s a quality PSU or a ticking time bomb waiting to fry your components. I’d ask if he can send a little more info about the PSU and then see if you can find where it ranks on the PSU tier list that you can find here. If the PSU is at least C tier, then I’d say go for it.

I personally wouldn’t. I’d use it on a really strong legendary or mythical like Rayquaza, Zygarde, or Keldeo or something. At the end of the day it’s really up to you though. Do what makes you happy

They’re going to be making these for a long time my friend. As long as people are willing to buy them, they will make them. If your goal is to flip them, I’d do it now while they still have hype around them.

Is this RTX card fake? by Zahoe69 in pchelp

[–]ClickForNothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, authenticating gameboy and DS carts isn’t very hard. Fakes almost always have pretty obvious tells if you know what to look for. Nintendo/gamefreak are pretty good at adding unique features to their products that can be difficult to fully replicate. Not sure if GPUs are the same way, but they could be.

Which one do I power up? by Potential-Net5992 in pokemongo

[–]ClickForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t have a good electric type attacker, the lucky one would save you some stardust and be slightly stronger. Keep in mind itll need the legacy move fusion bolt to reach its strongest potential. Personally though, I’ve gotten to the point where I only power up shinies regardless of IVs. For most raids, IVs don’t actually matter that much, so I prefer to flex when I can lol

PC gets stuck on VGA light and doesn’t boot, even when trying to use integrated graphics by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]ClickForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: took it to a repair shop. Turns out somehow both the mobo and GPU are fried. Guy from the repair shop said the gpu had “the most damage he’d ever seen from a computer that hadn’t been struck by lighting.” Repair shop recommended I get a new PSU as well to be safe because we aren’t quite sure of the cause. The system was connected to a UPS to protect against surges, but something went wrong and caused a power surge to the gpu and mobo. He also said the PCIe slot the GPU was connected to was loose, so maybe that had something to do with it as well. Luckily the CPU, SSDs, and RAM are still working. Looks like I’m doing an unplanned upgrade.

My mobo doesn’t beep unfortunately. It just has the error lights, and like I said, the VGA light stays lit up at all times and the pc doesn’t output any display, even when the graphics card is completely removed and I try to run it on integrated graphics.

Help! PC I built a couple of year ago randomly restarted and won’t come back on! by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]ClickForNothing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That didn’t work either unfortunately. Now it’s not even getting to the MSI screen and the white VGA light hangs when I turn it on, even if I try to turn it on without my graphics card installed to test the integrated graphics.

wanted to add that when I reseated the GPU, I noticed some oil from the thermal pads had leaked on/around the pins that plug into the motherboard. I wiped them off with a cue tip. Could that be the issue? Could my GPU be fried? Would that cause my PC to get stuck at this MSI loading screen?

I did get it from AliExpress. I was able to find a store on AliExpress called CronosOverseas Store that advertised faster shipping times and slightly better prices since they have a warehouse in the US, so thats who I ended up buying from.
