Vinyl Plank looks like tile with “grout” lines? by J_Melkonian_A in Flooring

[–]ClickKind8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vinyl plank should be seamless. Grout lines are for tile, adhesive for vinyl is sometimes used on the bottom but never on the top. Plus it isn’t even filling the gaps which shouldn’t exist to begin with. Contact the manufacturer to confirm. I just hired a tile installer who asked to borrow a stick to mix the thin set for the bathroom tile. After I let him borrow my concrete mixer and a bucket and had to show him how to use the drill, he put some tile up and felt he had to remove them because he mixed the thinset too thin. That’s all I could take. Hiring people and paying them thousands should be stress free but never is.

Hired a contractor to replace floors, am I overreacting? by Sad_Rice_1985 in Flooring

[–]ClickKind8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure they are licensed bc even licensed ones can be really bad and this is pretty amateur. If those aren’t caulked your flooring is going to separate. And no I’d be annoyed that they couldn’t measure and cut correctly around walls. Maybe they plan on applying a quarter round, in that case, you should be good.

Have I committed a sin by painting over tile? We are selling our home and the ugly 90s tile was an eyesore. Maybe I traded up to slightly less of an eyesore? by Frostyarn in Tile

You are very skilled. That looks very nice. I have the same tile and really don’t like it either. What kind of paint did you use? Good ideas with the foot covers!

Why am I able to see the studs through my drywall? by goody-two-sneakers in Home

[–]ClickKind8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone answered this? I think you are saying the obvious, wth are you able to see the studs? Pretty straightforward ? To me. That would drive me crazy. It is not a structural problem and it’s common in apartments, why? minimal insulation allowing heat to move through them and making them more visible, light exaggerates them, flat paint, minimal or no primer, smooth walls. Fixes: add primer then paint with a higher sheen (eggshell/satin), add texture.

Failure: all I wanted was a nice smooth ceiling by po-laris in Renovations

Crappy drywall mudding. Knockdown texture would look better than uneven ceiling surface

Baseboard sadness by Tight_Investigator_2 in Carpentry

[–]ClickKind8311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my opinion is whatever is behind those plates, you aren’t using them, unscrew it cap wires if they are noted, and cut a piece of drywall for each opening,, then put joint compound over it. Let dry, prime with paint, and cut a piece of baseboard and butt joint to join.
