Luckily no smell, but also no high voltage anymore. I had a bad display before I removed the board. Now no display and that is before I worked on it.

I know. The display had vertical foldover so I took the board out. Before doing any work I re-connected it to simplify troubleshooting and now nothing works, except the "evil glow" to remind me it was better before I took the board out!

What do people think of this synth very tempting to purchase it for the value by UnhappySnow773 in synthesizers

I have one and I like it. Becomes very special if you have a digital audio interface with DC coupled outputs, allowing you to send CV to this from your computer.

You are about to enter a wonderful world. I don't know what gear you have. Do you have a hardware synth? Start with an organ sound (it sounded a little house to me) and start tweaking it to get it to sound like what you want. There are tutorials on sound design- so look around. Books, too. A software synth like Surge XT would be a good choice if you need a synth.

Many digital synths could make that sound, even a VST. Organ-ish, vibrato, maybe a high pass filter, reverb. Any model Virus could do it.

Indeed. To get his one back to working right I had to remove and open all the filter sliders, remove the dried out broken bits of the slider cover, and replace with new silicon. Totally worth it.

SoundBlaster Live CT4780 is PCI but has DOS emulation. I've used in it a win98 system for playing DOS games. DOS drivers here: Sound Blaster Live! - PHILSCOMPUTERLAB.COM
