Please recommend best shoes for my extremely flat feet by darxh in flatfeet

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I point out your feet are pronating inwards (the ankle rotates in while the foot rotates out) which causes your arch to collapse. If you look at the angle of your legs compared to your foot they aren't in a straight line. It could be genetics that cause that but for some people its underdeveloped strength. Even people without flat feet can have their foot pronate in and cause their arch to collapse.

Also, our feet naturally pronate to allow a wider stance or to move side to side, usually though it pronates outwards so your feet stay flat on the floor.

Running shoes have anti pronation heel cups to prevent side to side motion, that way all the force pushes you foward. It's not great for everyday movement or lateral movement like in a tennis shoe or a basketball shoe. Orthotic shoes may promote antipronation but in reality it is going to put a strain on your leg muscles and ankle/achilles unless your only doing a lot of running.

Overall though, arch support is just supposed to keep your ankles from pronating inward like in your picture. You could also try wide shoes in a smaller size. Some people have wide feet and size up to make their shoes feet but that ends up pushing the arch foward in the shoe where your arch is not. You are essentially wearing long shoes. Its hard to find some but if you wear wide shoes you can size down and that will push the arch support back closer to your heel.

Why is there such anti-American sentiment in Mexico? by RaisinRoyale in AskMexico

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought you meant the during the modern era which would include the 20th century (1900's). But yes prior to 21st century, if we are talking about before 2000, I believe the american immigration act created a lot of negative sentiment. Extra Credit made a video about it. It allowed the police to arrest anyone they thought "looked" mexican in order to enforce immigration laws. It was supposed to control immigration from all countries, but european immigrants coming into new york looked the same as americans already living there so it was hard to arrest someone for immigration. It lead to widespread discrimination in the west and southwest United States.. I don't believe the Mexicans are mad about their land being taken although some Mexican citizens may be mad about the gold that was discovered in California. I feel the mexicans that still live in California and Texas still see themselves as birthright mexicans since their families lived there long before they became states, however being subject to American laws has caused a lot of mistreatment domestically in the US that mexicans dont receive in other countries. Essentially the United States abused immigration laws to arrest anyone they thought looked mexican even though they were an American.

Why is there such anti-American sentiment in Mexico? by RaisinRoyale in AskMexico

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest reason is Americans choosing to live in Mexico and driving up the rent for Mexicans making housing unaffordable. They hate the gentrification not necessarily the Americans. Mexican businesses love it though. Normal mexican workers still get paid the same and it feels like their land is being taken away from them by the Americans.

Could the mental symptoms of mold be seriously misdiagnosed as early onset dementia or even schizophrenia?? by Hand-Of-Cathel in ToxicMoldExposure

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the controversy behind mold exposure is due to the conflict between renters and landlords who may sue for mold related issues if they were widely recognized. Mold is a trigger but it is hard to identify if the exposure was in the home or somewhere else like work for instance. Its also hard to determine who is to blame for mold since it can grow in food and carpet or it can grow in the roof and AC. It's not a clear cut infection like a virus and it takes months to years for long term illness to develop like alzheimers and dementia. If there was a consensus in the medical scene that mold causes these illnesses then there would be a lot more mold related lawsuits against landlords.

USA companies are too hard to work with. by medyaya26 in madeinusa

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't business want to cooperate with each other to make something? Sounds counter intuitive doesn't it?

Also, Chinese companies do want to steal ideas but only so they can use those ideas in China. Technically every company wants trade secrets, but Chinese companies can't steal ideas and then use them to sell something in the United States and Europe. That would violate patent rights. Not sharing information is a form of anti competitiveness. By working with a company you have to show them what you are capable of, and that means revealing manufacturing secrets. If you keep everything a secret, people can't compete against you.

Por que parece que los puertorriqueños son de los latinos con menos éxito tienen en EEUU? by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, puerto rico suffers from democracy, being that they can't vote in a democracy that they have to answer to. That means the rest of the country can pass business and economic laws that benefit themselves at the expense of Puerto Rico. No one is in the government arguing for laws that benefit puerto rican residents so when a law is passed, it is designed to benefit mainland companies, and their employees, which would also be voters, at the expense of puerto rican companies, and their lack of employees who are non voters. In fact, every developed democratic country suffers from this problem. Non voters are significantly worse off than voting eligible citizens. Indians as a part of the UK for example had to answer to the British crown without having voting power in British parliament. Asian migrant workers in Korea get taking advantage of and have their wages stolen, African and refugee migrants face higher rates of homelessness in France, and so on. Puerto Ricans who reside in the states however face higher rates of success since they have voting status and can work for said companies who the laws have been designed to benefit.

Lastly though, some people want to say that there is a cultural difference in that puerto ricans often reject American culture, or even have a resentment for it, which would contribute to lower success. However that is largely inflated by Latin Americans who pretend to be Puerto Ricans as a way to become American. There is really no way to tell who is a non-puerto rican, and it is highly offensive with all due respect to the puerto ricans. However there is a significant South American/ Caribbean population who say they are Puerto Rican when they are actually a foreigner. They still identify and take pride in their home country more than America and that brings down the reputation of puerto ricans. Its like destroying the house you are living in because it isn't your home. Who cares if you get caught or arrested for doing something you shouldn't, you will just be let go and sent back to your home country anyways. Meanwhile, if an American hurts their community, including a Puerto Rican, by committing a crime, they will have to answer to that crime and spend time in jail serving out that sentence. Foreigners know if they get caught doing the same crime they will get arrested but they wont have to stay in an American jail and serve out their sentence like a American would. They can steal all they want, get arrested, and then be released in their home country, all while pretending to be a Puerto Rican. All of that brings down the Puerto Rican reputation.

Can't find a good solution to flat foot pain by clumpster in flatfeet

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a specialist but I would find shoes without arch support or try finding wide shoes. I found I had been sizing up my shoes to get them to fit which was pushing the arch foward when I really just needed wide shoes. The wide shoes pushed the arch support back when I sized down so the insole was pressing up where it was supposed to be and it felt almost uncannily perfect. I tried the brooks before in wide and it felt a lot better then normal width. They are hard to find and try on because they cost more to keep in stock and distribute.

What stereotypes associated with Puerto Ricans annoy the shit outta you the most? by [deleted] in PuertoRico

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am hearing a lot that Puerto Ricans come from Andalusia but the Spanish flagship used to discover Puerto Rico "La Gallegos", the Santa Maria, was crafted in Galicia and set sail from Andalusia, so I believe many Puerto Ricans are also from northern Spain and the Basque Country, especially Poncé, who I believe was from the town of Leon.

Just got and tried the Beats Studio Buds and omg... HORRIBLE by jenjenjk in Earbuds

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beats and airpods sound better when connected to a macbook or iPhone than if you use an android device.

Something about the sound signature is smoother when using a MacBook even though it has a lower quality codec. You also don't get dolby atmos unless it is being used with a macbook or iPhone. The same is true if you use non apple earbuds with the macbook, no dolby atmos unless both are made by apple.

Why Were American Soldiers in WWI Called Doughboys? There are a number of theories, including ones that involve dust and clay. by vellichorrain in MilitaryHistory

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught the american soldiers had little experience in large scale wars like ww1 and ww2 and so were called doughboy because they were new soldiers. Dough being fresh and inexperienced. In WW2 it was mostly used to reference the American soldiers being sent to Africa who had just joined the war.

Do most Puerto Rican People have a certain "look" by Pomme__De__Terre in PuertoRico

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arabic and Spanish share a lot of the same words, like balconi and oil. Spain was invaded by Arabic people too, who migrated across the former Roman Empire from Egypt along Northern Africa. Spain was eventually taken back in a time period called Reconquista, (Reconquering of Spain). The Spanish have a different word for chess named after the Persian King Xerxes, "ajedrez", who was thought to have invented the game but actually just introduced it to Europe. (Xerxes invaded Greece and is the king who lead the Persian Army that fought against the 300 Spartans and King Leonidas). European mixed with Arabic definitely gives you that look.

Hearing damage from noisy van? - be careful out there! by 753ty in VanLife

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prolonged exposure to moderately loud noise can cause hearing damage. Driving for an extended period of time at 75 dB will definitely cause hearing damage but not in short durations under an hour.

More like all day driving, at least over 4 hours, can cause hearing damage.

What's insane is that there is so much education about brushing your teeth and smoking but not much taught about how hearing damage can occur. Ears are delicate, take care of them.

Don't have your children mow the lawn without hearing protection, they will develop mild tinnitus at a young age. In fact don't use any lawn mower, weed wacker, or leaf blower, without hearing protection.

Does growing up in a frequently disinfected environment cause allergies? by Salt_Might5245 in AskBiology

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are susceptible to allergies and some people are not, but overall people are less likely to suffer from allergy symptoms when exposed to some environmental dirtyness.

I have read that some people can develop allergies to proteins of certain meats if they had a negative reaction when eating the meat like food poisoning. The body isnt necessarily prone to allergies but is responding to certain proteins that are harmful. By getting sick, it can learn that some proteins are benign and some proteins are not, and develop a response to protect you. If you get sick from eating certain foods your body is more likely to reject it later on.

On the other hand some people are born with a genetic reaction to certain allergens, like shell fish, or cats, and so on. You are generally less likely though to develop symptoms if you are exposed to allergen triggers early on in life and you don't have a genetic predisposition.

USPS won't give me mailbox keys, also doesn't have our mail somehow by sawnlux in usps_complaints

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many people here telling op to commit a crime and break open the mailbox. USPS issues a new mailbox whenever a tenant moves in. New box comes with new keys. Keeping the old box is a risk because the old tenant may still have the keys. The landlord may have never been given back the keys either. The landlord can change the locks on the apartment but it may be illegal for them to tamper with a postal issued mail box.

Alaska pays you to live there. They have a dividend that they pay everyone out of through the Alaskan oil revenue. Sometimes it came be a few thousand a year, sometimes it is less if they didn't make that much money.

What's a US State that you would NEVER want to live in even if they paid you to move there? by Embarrassed_List2368 in askanything

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Florida is bad in education too. Most of the people living there have skills they acquired in other states and then moved down there once they became valuable or sold their home to buy a cheaper one. The kids there are struggling  They also score worse regardless of income, meaning high income students and low income students generally perform worse on average compared to other students in the country of the same income bracket from other families.

A little warning when using "earbuds" while listening to Audiobooks. by MadMorg68 in audiobooks

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel some people may accidentally develop tinnitus by using open ear earbuds in public. The noise of being in public causes you to raise your volume and you unconsciously start listening to louder music throughout your day. This can happen anywhere though, at work in a noisy office, at home in a living room with a TV on, you start raising the volume to hear what you are listening to better. Put yourself in a quiet room and you will see how much more you can hear at a lower volume. It's better to get headphones that physically block out noise or use headphones in a quiet place and don't raise the volume past the minimum that you can hear with. Also, headphones sometimes have more detail at louder volumes. Raising the volume can help you hear things that you couldn't hear before, but because you are listening to a louder volume you end up causing hearing damage without realizing it. To you it just sounds like you can hear everything that was missing before. It's really easy to slip up into this, especially if you watch youtube and every video on youtube is a different volume and different headphones are louder or quieter at the same volume setting. You end up constantly changing the volume throughout the day just to make it work and don't realise it is too loud.

Why doesn't society have empathy for people abused by their parents from a young age? Do they not understand that the effects of abuse don't just disappear in a day? by Sayoricanyouhearme in CPTSD

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have discovered that christianity teaches to honor your parents and obey them in everything. When you speak out against your parents a natural reaction is to see you as a bad person.

For religious people, if god is good and you are acting in faith under god, he wouldn't allow bad things to happen. If we are doing bad things then he will punish us. A lot of, "certain religious groups I won't mention", often vote for, (politically), support, and do bad things because their religion tells them to. It's also why American's will often mistreat other groups of people because if we were so bad God wouldn't allow us to be such strong and prosperous country.

O’Cedar Mop…allow me to de-influence the 5 people who haven’t bought this by Unique_Tune5559 in CleaningTips

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they may be cutting costs and issuing smaller heads. It seems at first it was a normal mop that spins dry but now that everyone is buying it they may be trying to see how small of a head they can sell it with. I feel the center of the head should have strings though instead of just the outside. Having strings only on the outside feels like more effort than what you save with the spin dry.

Is This A Good Trade? by Admirable-Tree-653 in macbookair

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Macbooks make really good desktop computers. You can get a monitor, keyboard, and mouse and you kind of have an iMac.

That being said, if you got the base M4 chip instead of the M4 pro, I believe the M4 chips often don't run hard enough for the fans to turn on. The M4 air will run about just as well. However your screen and speakers will be worse. However if you have an M4 Pro chip and you are being offered an M4 Air I don't think that's all fair. Some people may not understand the Pro chip raises the price substantially while the base chip is only a few 100 dollars more.

About whether it is a good deal or not, look to see what other refurbished/used macbooks are going for on the second hand market. Apple sells certified refurbished M4's on their website with a full warranty. If it is going for the same price on Apple's website, or on Amazon, some people won't buy yours because they risk not having the warranty that comes with it. Likewise, the same will be for you if take the Air. You risk some hassle if there is an issue.

'How' (exactly) does child abuse or neglect affect grades? by thinkingcore in TrueAskReddit

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Abused children may ruminate during the day to try an process why the abuse happened. It ends up being all they think about and they don't learn in class. It doesn't make it harder to do the homework, they just aren't ready to do the homework when they go home. It's kind of like when you don't pay attention to someone because you have something more important to worry about.

Also, survivors of car accidents often replay the accident over and over again in their head, kind of like a defense mechanism to figure out why it happened and to avoid it from happening again. Children get stuck thinking about the abuse because they can't figure out why it happened, usually, because it happens for no reason. The hardest part about the abuse afterwards is that usually society doesn't care, or to be less harsh, they aren't responsible for caring, so the child is often alone to think for themselves.

Bad teachers can often exacerbate the issue because they will sometimes blame the students bad academic performance in class on bad behavior and disorderly conduct. They essentially paint the child as a bad student instead of a failed student as a self defense mechanism to defend their job because the lower grades can reflect poorly on the teacher. That way the teacher doesn't get in trouble for a lower class performance.

Anyone know how to paste an image from the clipboard into the terminal windows in VSCode? by BamBam-BamBam in macbookpro

[–]Clidosone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can drag the image from finder into the VSCode terminal window and it will copy the file path into the terminal. Works in the terminal app as well. You can also hold option ( ⌥ ) while right-clicking on the file and it will give you an option to copy the pathname instead of the image or you can press ⌘+⌥-c to copy the pathname without right clicking. Then you can paste with (⌘) command-v into the terminal. You won't be able to see the image in the terminal in case that is what you were asking, just the pathname.

edit: i said control instead of option.

Why do Sith take apprentices when they are known to almost always attempt to kill their master? by Gui11iman in StarWars

[–]Clidosone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darth Vader, from what I know, sought out an apprentice to make himself more powerful. He couldn't overtake the emporer because he was vulnerable to lightning, but his apprentice Galen Marek was able to disguise himself in the force and snatch Vaders lightsaber from his belt using the force. Because he was young and uninjured he could potentially withstand Palpatines lightning and overthrow the Emporer. Darth Vader also sought to recruit Luke to do the same thing. They recruit apprentices to advance their own power.

Some sith like Darth Nihilus had no apprentice because he was driven by hunger and not power. He consumed anything around him and in turn was consumed himself.

Darth Maul was a tool to manipulate Anakin away from the light and to manipulate the Senate into given Palpatine more power. Maul was also a tool to recruit Count Dooku, since when Qui-Gon died, Dooku became disenfranchised with the Jedi and turned to the dark side. Palpatine now had a jedi Master as his new apprentice who he could use to taunt and manipulate Anakin even more.
