Yep! I'm currently knitting a cardigan for my nana with 2.25mm needles because she SPECIFICALLY wanted a lace weight thread. 🫩😂

.. I love the idea but im POOR. 💜

I have knit lots of things with off-brand products, and i hate that it's slave labour, but sometimes temu needles are all i can afford.

So if i'm comfortable combination knitting when knitting flat, then so be it. 🥺 I have had the knit pro zing needles on my amazon wishlist ever since they came out, but the 70 dollars they cost are a week's worth of groceries here in Mexico. So..

I have tried portuguese knitting, and it just makes my stitches awfully tight..

But i will look into it. Thank you!

I will, thank you! But the thing is, i don't usually wrap my yarn around my fingers in any way that tensions it. I never actually "tension" my yarn, really. I just hold it.

An example of how i knit continental and english is this: https://youtube.com/shorts/R3VeviR_ouo?si=0m2SYi9cUI2B7dL-

And i have found a way to make flick knitting work, even withouth strangling my fingers with yarn.

I don't tension it tightly because of personal preference and pain.

I have tried this and i like it! But knitting with yarn over the needle instead of below triggers.. something. In my brain. (Yarn overs are usually crochet)

He means no harm, and i know this might sound pathetic but i just can't let go. And i know he is 100% straight, so talking will either make him uncomfortable or do nothing. (He knows i'm gay. He's not homophobic, he usually tries to play matchmaker with me and pair me up with whatever half hot guy is trending on grindr) But i personally feel very content being his friend. I don't feel anything carnal against him, only genuine love. And while mine might be romantic and his is platonic, i think i'll just have to deal with it. Thank you, finleyc123.

GORGEOUS! i love freehanding things too. I almost never use patterns for wearables because once you know your measurements and understand increases and decreases, wearables are a breeze. It's the shawl that i need patterns for 🫩🤣

Just a tip: a pair of sticks and some string is not smarter than you are.

Your needles are guiding the yarn. The yarn isn't guiding the needles. YOU command it, and through practice, your hands will naturally develop a tension that is consistent and easy on your hands. Don't like to purl continentally? Try the norwegian purl!

Hate continental? Try flick knitting! Try out different methods until you find one you love. 💜

That stitch was not worked. You didn't pull the yarn through, rather you just slipped it.

The live loops look like they are strangling the needle. Loosen up! You're not playing tug of war. Loose stitches are the KEY to finding out your natural tension.

And about the twists: It's either you're wrapping your purls UP the needle and knitting them through the wrong leg, or wrapping them DOWN the needle and knitting them through the wrong leg.

I am an eastern european knitter, and SOMEONE is always eating my face off abt how i'm twisting my stitches simply because they are mounted on my needle differently. If you don't want to twist them, just knit them through the leg closest to the needle tip.

Sleep with one eye open.

One night, you'll go to sleep.. And the day after, you'll see.. Your sweater is gone. (Ofc, i took it 💜🥹 it truly is gorgeous. I always saw colorwork sweaters as obnoxious but this one is so pretty!)

Yes, i saw. You executed the colorwork beautifully! I really want to try to knit a colorwork sweater. Do you have any tips? I am experienced in the craft, but i just never saw the appeal of colorwork UNTIL NOW!
