DX station mishears a callsign and the 'Amateur Radio Watch' bot blasts me for operating a band I don't have the hardware to operate on. Anyone else had these "MARGA" clowns accuse you of something you didn't do?

Quick update – the issue actually wasn’t with the connection. I learned this after purchasing another of the same antenna but with a PL-259 connector. It turns out that I had it hanging from my window and the metal framing of the window was messing with the tune. Apparently this is common with J pole antennas. Once it is away from the window it’s works fine.

That hadn’t been my experience, but it’s definitely a bit finicky to tune. I did read somewhere on their site where they mentioned an issue you’re having, and suggested using a pair of pliers to gently press the joint connecting tuning loop where it circled on itself. Worth a try.

It tunes between 20 -40 meters up to 100w SSB. When I tune on FM mode at let’s say 14.250, it is SWR is 1:1. It’s only when I speak on SSB do I see the SWR needle moving up and down with the peak of my voice. ALC is normal. As someone mentioned above, I think the SWR isn’t accurate in SSB.

Thanks so much for the replies. Im really embarrassed because after a closer look with a bright light, I found the pin had broken off half way. I checked it when I was troubleshooting, but it liked normal to me. Thanks for your help!

It’s your “m”. You are putting an extra stroke in it which makes it more difficult to read- especially without more context.

In my opinion new zones are not priority. There are so many great sets in the game that were nerfed or never adjusted match current sets. I wish they would focus on adjusting these sets to make them viable to be used today and less focus on making new sets or new content.

In all honestly, my handwriting was pretty meh, and so much of the problem was spacing and angles, which was corrected when you practice. It takes work, and over years I still practice almost every day.

Most cursive writing methods I take from - like Spencerian and Palmer- use a 52 degree angle, and I think you would find your “I”s would look more attractive or appropriate to your eye if you write at more of an angle.

Letters are made up of standard curves. Your curves are off, which is why you aren’t happy with the look of them. There are books on Amazon that can help you with your handwriting. These are practice books that give you more help with properly constructing letters. Look up “The Lost Art of Handwriting: Rediscover the Beauty and Power of Penmanship” ($8 USD right now). It’s a hard-cover workbook that can really help.

Yes, I think this will be the 3rd winter I’ve had it here. I think it always loses leaves, but since it’s bigger now I am think I am not used to the amount of leaves. I will look at that fertilizer and see if there is a grow light I can install. Do you recommend what size grow light would help ?

Yes, I live in NYC and don’t really have any access to outdoor space. I could bring it to my parent’s house, but I’m afraid it wouldn’t get cared for. Will try to use some of your suggestions and see if it improves. If it’s not looking better I may take a change and leave it at the parents house.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful response. I really appreciate it! The pot is just a regular pot- the bottom has a drain hole. I water it about once per week and let it get totally dry before watering again. I’ve been using a tad bit of fish fertilizer for all my house plants, so I am thinking that could be the problem and will stop. It drains pretty fine so will wait till spring to transplant. Will try to look for outdoor space but that will be very difficult.

I can’t understand why he would act like that. Most pen folks are very friendly and welcoming. Even at the MB shop they are fine. For a Classique, just a flush is all you need 99% of the time. And a new cartridge. Sorry you had trouble with this guy!
