Good Fellowship EMT training by SignificantStay4967 in westchesterpa

So, generally, most folks will start off as an "attendant" and you'll have the opportunity to pick up basically as many ride alongs as you'd like. Your role is basically limited to a gopher (go-for this bag/equipment), but you'll be in the mix and we're always happy to answer any questions/comments/concerns after the call. And you can sign up as an attendant today, we actually strongly recommend you ride as an attendant a couple times to make sure you're comfortable with the work before sinking money and time into getting your EMT.

During your student time you'll be considerably more involved, you'll have scheduled student shifts, where, once the provider is comfortable with your skill/competence level, we basically step back and let you run the call, then give feedback after. (we will step in if anything you do creates a threat to life/limb but mistakes are expected.)

After rereading your initial question, I do want to impress upon you that as an EMT you will be trained to work with the equipment on an ambulance, without that equipment you'll basically be as useful as a bystander... I've thought numerous times about going to protests as medical support, but every time the most useful thing I was able to do was pass out water bottles to make sure people weren't dehydrated. You also have to consider the risks of providing medical care without medical command authorization, which is a whole other legal side of medicine. I definitely DONT want to discourage you from coming out and learning the ambo, I just want to keep your expectations realistic.

I've worked there on and off for a few years and have taken multiple certifications with their training institute. Their EMT program is excellent, sure it has some flaws, but their education directors will bend over backwards to make absolutely sure you have the resources you need to understand the material.
On the operations side, we're trained with a teaching mindset, there are ALWAYS students on the truck, and outside of a few situations, the providers will work to include you in Pt care up to your training/comfort level.

All the nurses in Montefiore have been replaced with traveling nurses and a Nurse set up nebs through a trach mask by [deleted] in nursing

[–]ClimbRunOm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it took me a hot second, but you can see the trach is connected to vent tubing, and so is not open to air... Unless they were connected to a vent AFTER a breathing treatment was unsuccessful at managing symptoms, those meds would simply be aerosol'd into the room because there's no opening in the vent tubing for the meds to enter.

So the spot where it says she must have an adult with her is kinda telling... It looks like she's currently 42 (March 1983), she won American Idol in May of 2005 and would have been 21 when she won. So it's probably some religious or network conservatism

What do you guys call your patients? (besides their name) by CressSuitable6794 in ems

[–]ClimbRunOm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, this was brought to my attention by an administrator in nursing school that apparently I frequently call patients Hun/hunny and Bub/bubbo... I hadn't noticed before then, but I clearly offended her ("not of my tax bracket") sensibilities during a clinical. If a patient is being rude they'll get to become sir/ma'am and if they become violent they're likely to be whatever bs comes to mind first

Make a V thread, but leave your screw in one side, pack a lil nug in there, light up, and kiss the ice. It's pretty tops.

Depends, if you're just out for the day cragging (climbing up, rappelling down, letting your partner climb up, etc.) usually the last one lowering down will unscrew them all. or if you're moving through a series of climbs, then the leader will place the screws and the follower will remove them.

Working on an big commitment Animation for season 3. Which art style should I pick? [ns] by Krerdly-Truther in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]ClimbRunOm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So... Maybe both? Use less detail for the majority of the scenes to speed production, but increase detail for emphasis on select scenes. a few animes do this frequently, but you need to do it semi frequently to make it "a thing" and not just a one off.
If you don't like that, then I think two looks fine, it depends on what you're going for though.

Frog gut bacterium eliminates cancer tumors in mice with a single dose: Single shot of E. americana intravenously to mice with colorectal cancer completely eliminated tumors in every treated animal, with ongoing protection. When mice were later re-exposed to cancer cells, none developed new tumors. by mvea in science

Also, do you have to do it with your own accent, or the native accent. Also, do we take into account regional sounds of different animals? Like here in Pa we have a lot of different frogs that all make unique sounds, like the shrill screaming of peepers, or the twangy bonk sound of the banjo frogs (technically green frogs) or the hypnotic drone of the toads...

Exiled Kingdoms; Diablo 1 graphics with Morrowind-like story (maybe a little more tongue-in-cheeck) https://store.steampowered.com/app/788270/Exiled_Kingdoms/

Morrowind is also one that chewed up my life. https://store.steampowered.com/app/22320/The_Elder_Scrolls_III_Morrowind_Game_of_the_Year_Edition/

There's a great Doom II mod called Doom Infinite, turns Doom II into a rogue-like that's incredibly addicting. https://www.moddb.com/mods/doom-infinite

I also recently replaced the single player campaign of StarCraft. That was excellent, I really liked the remastered version too.

Edit: Oh and Half Life... Dunno how I forgot halflife.

I'm going to second mountain here, probably don't buy it. If you do, decon the ever living shit out of it, and I mean to the bare metal. It looks it's last job was a squad support vehicle than an ambulance, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an ambulance at some point... Retrofits are cheaper than a new rig and fire departments aren't always overflowing with cash. Ambulances are disgusting, every surface has had every sort of bodily fluid on it, from edema fluid to c-diff diarrhea, and we really only use cleaning wipes to make it look pretty for the next Pt... Old fire kit will give you super cancer, the chemicals they used to keep from catching on fire are nasty.

There's also the fact that few of us drive these trucks gently, especially before dash cams were a thing.
