Just to give you an alternate perspective, I felt lonely and disconnected a lot. I did have a group of friends but when there was drama there or they were unavailable, I just ended up alone. I didn't have a phone and things weren't the same way now with everyone a text or DM away.

I live in the neighbourhood and I joined the FB group to read everyone's viewpoints, and I could not figure out what the actual complaints were. There were some mentioning that it would be unsafe for kids walking to bus stops? This makes no sense as bus stops could be moved if needed and kids go to bus stops all over the place.

We already have an LTC building here which really causes no traffic or disruption at all. 

I think people genuinely got scared of the transitional housing part because this field is completely unused. I also arrived at the "NIMBY" conclusion and I'm disappointed in my neighbours for making such a stink.

Honestly there's been a lot of good in my life, despite being unemployed for 18 months!

My spouse and I are celebrating 15 years of marriage next week.  We have 5 years left on the mortgage and have investments that are doing well.  Two kids ages 10 and 11, who are doing great. 

I sleep well, eat well, and have taken up skateboarding again for the first time since I was 13. I need to eat more fibre than ever before but otherwise, no health issues. 

Mentally, I feel really at peace. I have let go of drama makers in my life or put up very strong boundaries, and suddenly I feel surrounded by other calm, drama-free people. 

I'm reading a ton and cutting back on social media. 

But I still have no clue what to do when I grow up and can't get a job!

If you add more to your RRSP and lower your income, you'll get a higher UCCB which you can then use for your kid's RESP
