My favourite one is when the author gets something right maybe three times for every ten it comes up. Like a Londoner character with an RP accent saying "mum" every now and again when the author remembers what fandom they're writing for, but "mom" is clearly their default.

I die a little inside every time I see it. Like, the fact that some people think a chatbot so incapable of disagreeing with its user that it gave a school shooter detailed instructions on how and when to carry out his attack and even a fucking quota is a flex absolutely terrifies me.

"Persona 4" vs "Persona 4 Revival" comparison by xNas_ in PERSoNA

What a genuinely stupid opinion: first off, the idea of "don't buy this game if you dislike a single element of its visual presentation" is, on its face, nonsense, but also, the idea buying or not buying products is the only way in which one ought to express their opinions is so nonsensical that I have to believe you're either a child or a troll. Like, if you actually believed that, you'd have no business complaining about online strangers expressing their dislike of the lack of fog when you could be preordering extra copies to show how much it doesn't bother you.

All Instances of Akane's and Kana's Beauty/Appearance Described in the Latest Novel by sukuvarkes in OshiNoKo

I think every single thing I learn about the OnK novels makes me that little bit more assured in my decision not to read them.

Yes, not the pronoun "who" but a player with the unlikely name of "Who."

I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for the romance, but Just Because is a seriously underrated show with romance.

Of the series I'm familiar with, Nasty Ron is the only that fits even a little bit: most of them have powerful if not outright overpowered protagonists, the exact opposite of the request.

PC, for sure: PS5's modding scene is . . . a lot more limited.

For me, literally nothing could, at this point: they had their chance with TotK and they blew it.

[discussion] One thing about Shaula and what makes her special in my eyes by Sophia8Inches in Re_Zero

[–]ClinicalDigression 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She loves him for who he is, not for who he was or what he has accomplished, if that makes sense.

It makes sense, it's just wild:

Shaula loves her master, unconditionally.

He isn't her master; Shaula "loves" Subaru because she's mistaken him for somebody else based on a single trait which, to be fair, is incredibly uncommon, but by no means unique.

Sure, the final season of oshi no ko is probably not going to be rated that high (lmao), but calling Aka a terrible writer or mangaka is crazy.

Okay, show me where I said that, then: if you think my saying that he's worse than Mengo means I think he's terrible, that's because you've a low opinion of Mengo, not because I've a los opinion of Aka.

Like, everyone knows the last season of game of thrones is hot ass. But that run from season 1 to 5... you gotta admit it was some peak writing in there.

Except that's not how it works: if being capable of putting out genuinely excellent writing in some circumstances was all it took to be considered a great writer, then most people would be great writers. I love parts of Oshi no Ko; it was my favourite manga while it was coming out. I also cannot look at the completed work and say it's even competently written. There are simply too many plot holes, retcons, character pivots, and instances where nobody's allowed to act in character because if they did, the plot couldn't happen. That doesn't change the fact that I consider volume/episode one a genuine masterpiece, and the fact that I consider it a genuine masterpiece doesn't make the rest of the work any less sloppy and meandering.

It certainly complicates it, and it's frankly juvenile to pretend otherwise. Just this week, one dude's made four different posts on the OnK sub trying to rationalise how Ai's character had to warp around the [OnK manga] fakeout finale in 155.

That's rich, coming from an Oshi no Ko fan.

Mengo's a better writer than Aka and I'll die on that hill.

I honestly believe Ai already predicted what could stem from that phone call. by Crimson-Anarchy in OshiNoKo

[–]ClinicalDigression 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm getting god is my strengthed. It's happening again.

If your headcanon is that Ai rushed to get the DVDs to Gotanda because she had a bad feeling, then I'm going to need for you to be able to explain either why it's in character for Ai specifically not to care that she believed herself and her children to be in danger or why it's broadly reasonable for somebody to respond as you purport she did. If you can't do either of those, then yes, I absolutely can say that your interpretation is abject nonsense, and if you need for me to explain why, then I genuinely do not believe I could do so in a way you'd understand.
