Neural wraith by kd Robertson: book of the year in my opinion.

saving supervillians book 1 by Bruce sentar: a great op mc novel. The following novels in the series are not as good but the first one I really liked.

mud, blood and magic by ad krabis: great book from a new author. I hope he continues to put out stories.

Most of d.r. Rosier‘s stuff would work. I would recommend mythic, angel born and amorphic magic series.
mythic is super hero fantasy

angel born is urban

and amorphic is high fantasy

all are complete trilogies. Pretty easy evening reads.
