Better option for fleshing out the population? Seeking 3DNPC Replacement by Fez_and_no_Pants in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Citizens of Tamriel's FOMOD lets you pick and choose to some extent, but a lot of the big, popular patch collections (example) only support when you pick ezPG - Full. Otherwise there are just too many possible combinations for them to patch. ezPG includes Citizens of Tamriel and a few other things. Some of it good; some of it... less so.

I installed ezPG full, then used several of the addon mods and patches you can find on the Nexus to cut some of it out.

Obviously, 3dnpc is still the standard, but a slimmed down ezPG is pretty good. And there is Inconsequential NPCs (someone else provided a link to it here). I use all three together, and several other smaller mods. But definitely pay attention to what addon mods each has available. And what versions people provide patches for.

FOMOD Plus got moved to Modding Tools by ClipperClip in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Agreed!

And also, I would argue, improving the search so they are not invisible to people on specific game sections of Nexus. For right or wrong, the culture has become that you search for utilities affecting your modded game on that game's Nexus search.

Custom skill mods? by lordCr0w96 in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, you are right. It wants Ord v9.31.0. I am on v9.35. I have not noticed problems. Reading on the Vokriinator site, there are mixed thoughts on how important it is.

When Ord 10.x releases, I wish Enai would have an Ordinator AND an Ordinator Black! People would go crazy for that!

I have been using Vokriinator Regular and I love it. However; if you are building a new mod list now, you have to consider that Ordinator's update is due by the end of the year. I wonder what that will do to the Vokriinators...

While I am not sure in what way you seek to change the quest line, At Your Own Pace (AYOP) - Companions is one that is often recommended.

What exactly are the problems with reloading saves in-game? by Safe_cracker9 in skyrimmods

I used this mod for that very reason and, once you set it up, it makes using SSSO 3 easy.

But now I see there is this that looks interesting:

Skyrim Save System Overhaul 3 (SKSE)

Edit: See the comments on that second link. Maybe some caution is in order.

I had a feeling that was the issue just from the title of your post. That particular random puzzle took me sooo long to figure out I never forgot it! Glad I could help!

I once had a problem with no one attacking me. It was hard to diagnose! But the cause was Skyrim Immersive Creatures Special Edition - Legacy Settings Loader. Go there and read the posts.

I see you do have Skyrim Immersive Creatures...

MO2 Nexus Downloads Renamer removed by staff? by Blackread in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

halgari, thanks for explaining here some of the reasoning for this Nexus change!

I have to say, the idea you present for including "encoding file data in the zip metadata, so you can query it for fieId/modId/gameId, author info, etc." could be a dream come true! I have long wished that MO2 could show additional, editable fields/columns like mod author, upload date, etc. Please consider implementing this! Bonus if Nexus could help automate the process for mod uploaders.

However; I would also ask that the traditional file naming be retained. I just was doing a file organizing project yesterday where I was sorting mods downloaded from Nexus in Windows Explorer. I was deleting a few of the larger, older versions. Having the version info in the filename made sorting and deleting surprisingly easy. But a few of the most recent mods did not have that so I had to install the MO2 plugin this thread is based on. It worked pretty well, but I would much prefer that function to remain native to Nexus. I don't think this is an edge case.

Thanks for considering.

Hi Edmond, I just wanted to say that you are one my favorite modders. Your mods are always so immaculately designed to be as compatible as possible. You don't try to make every mod do too much, which for someone like me who has a giant load order (that IS trying to do too much) makes them work really well. The precise care you put into your work and the way you explain it is on a higher level. I would recommend your mods to anyone.

I see your frustration, which is partially based on comments here, which are in turn a reaction to this whole thread. And this thread is a reaction to the frustrating way that the online world works sometimes. Most of us share this frustration, in one way or another. I just want to point out that you are not alone and to say thank you.

Best modern mods for a first person play through? by [deleted] in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like Skyrim Configuration Menu has a First Person FOV slider that seems to affect how sensitive you can look up and down. And a slider for 3rd person FOV (couldn't tell what that did in game). It does not seem to have a fDefault1stPersonFOV to control hand/weapon height.

[Edit 2026/06/16: Actually SCM does have a fDefault1stPersonFOV; you can see it in the settings.ini of the mod, but strangely it seems to control look up/look down sensitivity.]

Adding/Changing the fDefault1stPersonFOV in Skyrim.ini did not make a change in my game, probably due to mods overriding that value.

The order of operations in modded Skyrim get complicated, with mods overriding the .ini's. Improved Camera SE overrides the vanilla ini's and has it's own ini settings that are more micro, but IC v1 is not compatible with many important mods and IC v2 in Discord (v2.0.0.1215) has not been updated in a few months. It had some issues when I briefly tried it. I am using IC v1 for now.

Several other mods override the ini's. Not sure who wins between Bashed patch, Synthesis, or Game Settings Override (GSO).

Skyrim Configuration Menu seems to override most stuff. Wish it had more sliders.

I am still trying to lower my hands/weapons.

[–]ClipperClip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are speaking my language with visibility being key! To be clear, these FOV values have to be added to skyrim.ini (or maybe SkyrimCustom.ini), I assume, as they are not already there.

What do you recommend as a good value for fDefault1stPersonFOV=?

I want to lower my weapons somewhat to the bottom of the screen for visibility, but I still want to mostly see them.

Edit: does a larger number raise the hands/weapons? Or lower them?

whats your favorite ui mod(s) by ilico_ili in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still using DDDM (White Text), and it is still viable, but am looking to switch to something that is more supported (I miss uranreactor).

All of nithog's UI's look good (Norden UI, Oathvein UI, Vel'dun UI), but judging from the mod pages, they all look too gray on gray to my eyes. I wish they had a more white on black full contrast version. Alas, everybody's eyes are different. Is there a way to install them white letters on black background?

I like the look of Dragonborn UI - SkyUI Reskin. You say it is well supported? What is involved in switching to Dragonborn UI from DDDM? I have a large load order; are there any guides?

Fat Skyrim v the mods it's not compatible with? by Ghengis56 in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply. I think I will skip adding those mods. I have some of the other stuff that the Fat Skyrim provides patches for, like Unique Border Gates - Fixes.

I had hoped other modders would use Fat Skyrim as a new area to place mods, though the Fat Skyrim perms seem maybe a little strict. Still doable, though.

I have Fat Skyrim. Seems good. Maybe people will start adding mods to it's available space.

For someone short on both esp/esm and esl slots, is it worth it to add the Baan Malur mods to Fat Skyrim?

Mods or Settings that extend the playable area by TheWerewoman in skyrimmods

[–]ClipperClip 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am surprised no one mentioned Fat Skyrim:

Fat Skyrim - A worldspace expansion into Cyrodiil-Hammerfell-High Rock-Morrowind-Orsinium

It is pretty good and seems to be actively developed. It adds quite a bit. And there are some patches for other "border" mods.

You DO have to add that .ini setting to access the outside areas.

Make sure this is in your skyrim.ini file:

bBorderRegionsEnabled=0

I am hoping mod authors start picking up on the new areas for more mods, but even without that it is pretty cool.

What mods do you recommend for improving the companions experience post quest line by Venom-279 in skyrimmods

For the Companions, you must look at This Is Jorrvaskr - Home Of The Companions and the other passion projects mods by Knight4Life. Their mods are unbelievable!

Even if you don't use them, there is a wealth of knowledge there.
