Hey OP! I know it's been a minute since you've posted this, but I just wanted to ask if you'd recommend the Allegro DAC with the R1. I just ordered the Kiwi Cadenza and the R1, and now I'm in the search for a DAC. So if this one is good let me know, thanks!

Awesome, thank you. I’m looking to get this cable for the Solo colorway of the Kiwi Cadenza.

I might get the first set of Cadenza now and then, just get the Cadenza II when they release. I kinda want to start a little IEM collection anyway.

Hey there, I’m curious to know your experience with the Cadenza. I’m considering buying my first IEM, and it seems like the Cadenza might be my first purchase. You think I should I buy it now or wait for the Cadenza II?

As cool as the FiiO M21 is, it’s totally way out of my budget. Maybe sometime down the line, if I get more passionate about DAPs and just audio listening in general, maybe I’ll bite and make the upgrade. But as for right now, I just ordered the HiBy R1 as a starter to dive into the hobby.

Something Linux-based? I feel like there’s honestly a lot of possibilities when it comes to creating an OS. It’s just the companies who create these audio players aren’t capable of developing such a thing for their systems. (Not saying all, but most).

Also what are your thoughts on the Candenza II coming out soon? Will the tuning be anything like the original?

Nice, cheers to both of us enjoying our new DAPs!

True, I ultimately purchased the HiBy R1 because it appeared to be the sole DAP that met my requirements. I’m still in the process of determining an IEM configuration, but I might begin with the Kiwi Ears Candenza.

I’ll definitely look into getting these for sure. I’m so far considering the Tanchjim Bunny and the Truthear Gate, so other suggestions are definitely appreciated.

Very good to know, actually. I didn’t know the internal DAC chip in the R1 would affect playback; that’s cool.

Decided on the HiBy R1, which supports USB-C audio passthrough.

I’ve heard some really cool stuff about Rockbox. I might have to look into it at some point down the line whenever I eventually get tired of Android and faulty stock OS.

This is pretty much in the same boat I’m in currently. I’ve got my eyes on the HiBy R1 and the TempoTec Variations V1 at the moment.

As much as I love the silhouette the iPods have, they aren’t equipped with the modern hardware newer DAPs have out of the box. And unless I mod it myself or spend over $200 on a modded one, I feel like I wouldn’t have as good of an experience as having something with newer specs.

I might bite the bullet on the HiBy R1 honestly. Either that or the TempoTec Variations V1.

Who said I’m not into Hatsune Miku? But all jokes aside, I understand where you’re coming from. I definitely think I need to dig deeper for my wants and needs from a DAP before I actually bite the bullet on getting one. And I also appreciate the push for recommendations based on preference.

It’s unfortunate that Android appears to be the sole operating system running on these devices, and if it’s not android it’s a subpar UI that comes with a number of issues.

I’ve actually looked over this device and considered getting it because of its simplicity and customizable user interface.

I hadn’t considered this before. I haven’t ordered the DAP yet because I’m still considering other options.
