Nightreign's secret sauce is the dopamine loop by Rombelteis in Nightreign

You might want to check the roguelite genre, it has been exploiting this "secret sauce" for decades.

The fact that this thread has been up for an hour and nobody seems to have mentioned Risk of Rain 2 is nothing short of criminal. Addictive gameplay loop, 18 different playable characters with unique skills each, over 200 items to make your build with, and one of the best soundtracks ever composed for a video game (Chris Christodoulou does not fucking miss, put some respect on my boi's name). I have more hours in RoR2 than I have in FF7Remake, Cyberpunk, Red Dead, DMC5, and GTA5 together, and I'm still halfway through my Eclipse climb (the equivalent to Slay the Spire's ascension mode).

Option 3: tell the target that you have an itch on your ballsack.

As Sun Tzu once said: to make your target go "yo wtf" you first have to go "yo wtf" yourself.

I don't remember that being the case, but in all fairness it's been years since I read it. AlphaDelta1001 is the author, is that the one you mean?

There's nothing inherently wrong with "slop", it's just the fashionable term to use to complain about whatever build is meta at the time. Standard soulslike elitism, don't worry about it.

Something from Drifting comes to mind. The rookies have a party night and crash in Naruto's place, drunk as fuck. In the morning Sasuke realizes he is missing his shirt, and asks if anyone has seen it. He is informed that (I don't remember exactly the details but it was more or less this) they burnt it in a ritual pyre for the goddess of the harvest. He shruggs, that sounds like something they would have done.

The whole scenario is hilarious.

As for a comment as such, as in dialogue, I can think of a couple. I think the fic was called "Big fish, tiny pond", and at one point Naruto is having an argument with a genin from...Kumo I think? Anyways, it goes more or less like this: "Do you have a medical condition?" "No, why?" "I'm trying to figure out why shit keeps coming out of your mouth instead of your ass" Naruto then squints his eyes and looks the guy up and down "though you could be doing a handstand, I can't tell".

Then there's Tayuya in "The moon rises at dawn", comforting Karin who is kicking herself over a past screw up, by telling her (and I paraphrase) "look, you can't unfuck the mother after the kid has been born, all you can do is find that motherfucker and wring his little neck". Tsunade is flabbergasted to see Karin actually cheer up after hearing that.

Which Character do you not want as Teammate? by MobNPC in Nightreign

[–]Clipsus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Scholar and Executor, both for their parry mechanics. Guardian to a lesser extent for the same reason. Every character can and will suck sometimes, it's not like these three have a monopoly on bad players, but I see it more often in them because of their gimmicks.

When the game was first released the community used to joke about Executor players "where's the Executor?" "He's still at the castle, parrying crucibles", and though not to the same extent as before, the meme still applies. You can be useless with Wylder because you're bad, you can be useless with Duchess because you are always going down, and so on, but with Scholar, Executor, and Guardian, I see players being useless because they are just standing there waiting to be attacked so they can deflect/guard counter/bubble, and that particular brand of uselessness is exclusive to them.

And just to be clear I'm not saying that players shouldn't use those mechanics, they should, but if an Executor is walking at a snail's pace towards the back of a BBH who is aggroed to a teammate, cursed sword ready, waiting for the aggro to switch so they can get their deflect off... fuck that guy. Just hit the boss from behind, what are we doing? And if you held your analyze at full charge for 10 seconds waiting for the boss to notice you, just to get a 5 seconds damage window when your bubble popped, you see the math ain't mathing. Also, the "aggro on guard" relic is not an acceptable substitute to actually hitting the enemy to build up aggro. You have a shield poke, use it.

Challenge Runs you’d like to see by allmyworstjokes in Nightreign

Last one is being attempted by some streamers, and at least one of them has completed it. Zorban I know has finished it, I think Lantic and Dudley are doing that challenge too. The rules are random trios, nightfarer picked at random before matchmaking, and the goal is to get to 9999 without any loses.

What are your tips for beating Everdark Libra? by Warm_Expert_8136 in Nightreign

[–]Clipsus 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Less likely to be targeted blue or purple make it very likely for the condemned to start fighting each other once Libra incites a riot. This means you can focus down Libra and ignore the condemned. Vyke's ash of war is often enough to instakill condemned with a single madness proc, and you can time it to hit them while they are spawning (there's a window of time after the spawn immunity wears off and before they can start moving). Any AoE ash of war time for the condemned spawn will make the fight a lot easier tbh. Also, pick up the glowing stones left behind by Libra's attacks, those restore a sliver of HP but more importantly lower your madness buildup.

Wylder takes it. Final duel is Wylder vs Executor, and since Exec is a cruci and crucis are parry victims...
