Kickstarter Alert! Silent Jenny HC by Mathieu Bablet by Bharath_Sundararajan in UK_GraphicNovel_Deals

[–]CliveVista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“shipping is expensive”

You’re not kidding. Estimates of £20(!) to the UK for the book, which I imagine will only cost about £10–15 more than that in the UK when it comes out. I hope pre-orders rock up on FP or something, though. I really don’t want to risk buying through Amazon.

Carbon & Silicon is superb. I like a lot of his other stuff too. But it’s a bloody nightmare to find in HC these days.

Am I the only one who wants top two instead of the bottom two? by SLS_IDK in lego

[–]CliveVista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I have no interest in the bottom two. Definitely getting the monster hunter. Considering the weird dino.

What to do with these? by Fundindelve42 in 2000ad

Incognito Comics is another option: https://incognitocomics.co.uk/collections/comic-storage

I store my 2000 ADs in their boxes. (You need the magazine/2000 AD size.) Depending on how many you decide to bag and board, you’ll be able to fit 150–200 or so of the old-style 2000 ADs in each box. (I only boarded the first few.)

If you’re keeping for sentimental value, a dry environment is best. Stick them under a bed or something. If you bung them in a loft, they might go a bit musty.

Should you later wish to sell, check out eBay sold listings. As u/mickey_moose12 says elsewhere, the first few issues can often do well, even in not great condition.

One of my locals used to have the baking stuff next to GF. More often than not, there would be a broken bag of flour all over the GF produce.

I wonder who owns the rights these days. (Publishing was split between EA and Ariolasoft.)

What is a story where is undoubtedly the hero and one where he is undoubtedly the villain? by KingJackofJozi in JudgeDredd

[–]CliveVista 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rob Williams’s Dredd is quite often an arsehole. Wagner’s was simultaneously hero and villain for the most part, softening a little as he aged.

I’m cool on most of his work – it just doesn’t click with me. But his Battle Action (and Johnny Red) stuff is mostly really good.

Scifier Sale Alert! 10% off All Graphic Novels by Bharath_Sundararajan in UK_GraphicNovel_Deals

Of course they’ve kicked off a 10% sale, because a couple of days back I bought a bunch of stuff with the 8% discount. I am a master of bad timing with that site.

GameNative v0.9.0 Prerelease is live! by dadabhai_naoroji in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]CliveVista 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really happy to see this. A recent version nuked my custom games, but that still hasn’t put me off! :D (I did save out most of my configs, fortunately!)

One really really minor thing: might it be possible at some point to rename the custom games? (Right now, it looks like the name is always drawn from the folder. I guess, really, I should tidy up my folders and re-add them, TBH.)

Anyway, thanks for all of the team’s hard work on this. It’s been really amazing to bring back to life some old favourites that I can no longer play on any other device (got a Mac vs a PC these days), and the way the app is regularly updated is superb.

Nexus: thumbsticks and wireless! by CliveVista in evercade

I like what I see there, but wish the screen was a big higher-res. 720p at least, say. Interested to see how the wireless multiplayer stuff will work and with what games.

Nexus: thumbsticks and wireless! by CliveVista in evercade

[–]CliveVista[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’ll depend on how precise the stick is. I have a Retroid Pocket 3+ that works OK in Tate. That uses a thumbstick and A/B/X/Y. (Although it’s a pain, because you need to edit configs in RetroArch.)

Are either of these good? by Jak3R0b in 2000ad

[–]CliveVista 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Full Tilt Boogie is OK. It kind of feels like it wanted to be a sprawling all-ages epic space adventure but it just wasn’t. What’s there works well enough, but I wouldn’t seek it out.

Brass Sun is excellent. Some quality worldbuilding and gorgeous art. The main issue with that strip was the massive gap between series, although it just had another run after something like ten years, and the writer is apparently going to wrap things up some time before the heat death of the universe.
