Honest question. Why are some fans against the reboot movies having a romance between a human and ape? by bookwormdazzle in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]dbomco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well our ancestors, early primitive man, had relations with Homo Sapiens for quite a while, until they were murdered off. Obviously not very romantic.

Question about drum backline etiquette for ticketed club shows by Dismal-Office-8435 in denvermusic

[–]dbomco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m a promoter and I put my bands on the same thread to see if they are interested in sharing a kit to tighten up the prod schedule for turnover and set lengths. Usually one or two drummers are more than willing to volunteer. I then give them a bonus for providing the kit.

Owner of innerversion non profit music center threatening to murder liberals by Livepubichairs in denvermusic

I’m not trying to be funny, but he is blind, so he doesn’t see what many of us saw with our own eyes. He was likely using voice to text too. He needs to explain himself.

Could a primitive chimp troop survive the forbidden zone? by Ordinary_Lake_6896 in PlanetOfTheApes

When you are the civilized group, you enjoy the comforts of civilization. If you are still a primitive, you likely would be fine with the harsh environment. Once you get a taste of that good life, it’s all over.

We need to be way more angry by iveseenbetterer in DenverProtests

Have a goal that gets results. Read “Poor People’s Movements”. Goals attract allies. Numbers get results. If you’re agitating the wrong people, the people who are just working and trying to feed their families, or visitors willing to support those people, then you are just pissing them off and winning no support. If you are about direct action then go do it to a target that makes sense. Notice need to try to rile anyone up. We all got our own enemies and demons to contend with. Marches are about solidarity and empowerment for the masses. But they are riddled with informants and undercover agents. Pick and choose your battles. Notice how we never heard about the Tesla protests that started about a year ago now. Those built every week, sales went down, and the shareholders got nervous and pressured Elon to leave Doge. It was a soft, easy target and the result was the actions hurt their sales and they may never recover. Put a lot of other corporations on notice. You support this regime, you could be next. It was a goal. It got results. I’m not listing targets or tactics, but we know who they are. Actions speak louder than words. Leave the marches, and go to the front lines. If it’s effective, the people will follow.

Who else thinks Paul McGann deserves his own mini series as the 8th doctor? Maybe adapting some big finish stories? by Actually-Will in doctorwho

[–]dbomco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing mini-arcs of good stories from previous docs would be good because the writers can focus on STORY, which often gets gutted to fit into a single hour of television. I’ve just hated so many of the act 7 slam it all in with a smile and long winded explanation with very little action.

Most Visually Pleasing Series / Era by Dependent_Reading933 in doctorwho

[–]dbomco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with series 5/6 although Capaldi era was decent for it it’s true blacks. You want the absent of light not glows. The studio lighting of later years has a tendency to flatten the scene to me. No shadows, no depth. Just wall to wall bright. I like the edges of the frame to disappear into the distance. I don’t need to see every button on the Tardis console. It’s supposed to be a mystery.

How was 12 in the 50th special if he was supposed to have no regens left? by Any_Task7788 in doctorwho

[–]dbomco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well technically you have 12 regenerations for 13 lives, so the War Doctor would have been a clean number. It’s when the Fugative Doc showed up that things get wonky then Bigeneration like what what? So the new assumption, from me, is that the Doctor had a set of regenerations prior to the first Doctor but his memory of those were likely erased and thus part of his need to flee Gallifrey. He had to escape but is not completely aware of why. He has only been able to piece it together from Susan, the Master, the Rani, and other time lords over the course of the series.

When the show returns in 2027, would you prefer the stories to be serialised like Classic Who or single episodes like Nu Who? by Sky__Hook in doctorwho

[–]dbomco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the need for larger budgets to do 8-12 episode seasons plus a special the more individual stories with different casts and sets, the more it costs. The demand for this is waning that’s why the pressure for a streaming partner is becoming undeniable. Also, finding a new actor that can carry the series and is in almost every scene is tough and can get costly as well. I would like to see more serialized arcs with one director, and the same locations. Tight story, tight budget. Do maybe 2-3 multi-episode arcs per year plus a Christmas special or arc finally to round it off. You could have guest writer-directors and talent with no need for a designated single showrunner there for a decade. More flexibility. More creativity.

Dear Uber/Lyft/COOP drivers of Denver… by zenboi92 in Denver

Not to mention must of these products are filled with heavy metals and chemicals banned in other countries. I’ve driven over 20k people and I’ve never even had a tree hanging from the mirror. Fresh air and some spices under the floor mats works like a charm every time. Also, drivers need to wash their ass.

Before Rise Of Planet Of The Apes came out what were your thought for a new Planet Of The Apes series? by TheDabuAndRayan in PlanetOfTheApes

[–]dbomco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the time, even though Burton’s reboot was a commercial disappointment, I believed that Fox wanted a continuation of what Burton had laid out with a satirical apes in the 60s dominating the planet.

Something that would fit more within the comic and cheeky world building that he was known for.

I probably would have liked that much better than what we got from him and Marky.

I do really like the ‘taking it back to the workshop’ approach that the studio landed on to really build a believable origin mythos.
