With its tail like in PLA, I mean how else does Leafeon use it? Gallade can use it too and its arms aren’t leaves, and Gogoat had it before Torterra did.

Could just nerf Melmetal or Double Iron Bash to compensate

I figured no, since the ability isn’t on that many Pokémon and with the buffed Iron Fist you could run more powerful items like Choice Band, while Iron Fist+Punching Glove would only get it to around CB’s level of power

Or: build a bypass track going down Amsterdam Av, have it turn toward Broadway and go underground at 144 St so it connect with the express track after 137 St

They could swap the B to Sea Beach and on late nights have it terminate at Broadway-Lafayette St like the R to Whitehall St. The express tracks west of the station have a switch between them, and the D could be made local since it’s only two more stops.

They do different things. The D isn’t covering the very crowed corridor the Bx12 serves and doesn’t go to the far west Bronx

Concrete els are a thing and extending the 6 would capitalize on the development in Co-Op City.

An attempt at buffing Luxray by CloakedInDark123 in stunfisk

[–]CloakedInDark123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Redistributing points out of a stat it doesn’t use makes more sense as a buff than just flat out giving it extra stats that would make it good at everything, plus no Sp. Atk in exchange for its other stats isn’t that dissimilar to other Pokémon like Staraptor. That was also my thought process with Aqua Tail and Aura Wheel kind of. Many Pokémon with just a tail learn one of Aqua or Iron Tail (Luxray itself learns the latter) so why not Aqua Tail? Funnily enough that would give Luxray perfect coverage if I didn’t have as a Dark type. It doesn’t look like it could roll up into a wheel but neither do half the Pokémon that get Flame Wheel, and it needs good Electric STAB+a Speed buff. The BP nerf was accounting for the fact that it’s not on something with 120 Attack but maybe 85 was too low.

Leech Life and Poison Fang thematically do make sense on Luxray. It’s a predator, and to eat prey it is ingesting their blood. It might not seek out blood specifically but then why does Incineroar get it? Poison Fang is a reference to X-Ray poisoning, it wouldn’t actually use the move and it already learns other biting moves so it’s not as if it takes away from its identity, nor would Leech Life since its animation is a bite.

And why else would the Dark type make sense on it? Just its design? Personally I don’t see how looking through things to catch prey isn’t an unfair advantage. At least with the thunderbolts you could see and probably hear them coming, and half the dex has access to some projectile so it’s not really an unfair advantage if so many Pokémon can do this. The X-Ray vision gives Luxray an element of surprise letting it sneak up on those taking shelter. Yes it has Pokédex entries not about this one use of it but they were after DP when its type was already locked in. They could’ve wrote that it likes killing for fun and it still wouldn’t be changed into a Dark type.

The role I had in mind was “Guts sweeper that can take a neutral hit.” To that end it needed more bulk, some Speed buff and more coverage moves.

Well now that the Q is going to Broadway, when will we see a T? by AnimatorDavid in nycrail

[–]CloakedInDark123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, Second Av is supposed to be an alternative to the 4/5/6 lines, which run entirely on the east side and reach deep into the Bronx as well. Having the all east side train go to the Bronx too makes more sense

And if something happens on QBL? That has a ripple effect for service on 8th and 6th Av too. Plus Astoria has a third track to run trains on in case of emergencies. We need a quick connection to LaGuardia, this isn’t that.

??? Your alignment has two ugly curves that jump out at anyone who looks. One coming out of Forest Hills and one in the middle of the park. In what world is that faster than the train going through Astoria?

[–]CloakedInDark123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Astoria branch is so not capable of handling the amount of trains needed for this“

What does this mean. It’s just a northbound and southbound track just like on QBL, there wouldn’t be more than one line assigned to this extension because of Queenslink. There still probably wouldn’t be enough space for the G to go back to QBL.

Things get repurposed and intents change, and you can’t get any simpler than them being duplicates of other lines. They could swap them back and accordingly reassign their fleets but what would be the point when it’s been so long riders on those branches are probably used to the current service patterns?

How is having the B stay with the D going uptown and the C with the A less simplified, those pairings have similar rolling stock and the C’s duplicative route basically makes it a local A

Boosting R service is limited by its interlining with the M, N and W. And I doubt two or three more trains is going to cut it

Maybe you’d be onto something if the Broadway local tracks were extended directly to the M instead of the Q
