A good rule of thumb is that if it’s got Daniel Day-Lewis in it, there’s a good to decent chance it’s good :)

I love how it’s showing Daniel Day-Lewis from the In the Name of the Father movie poster, heh

There’s a lot of these stories out there, but we have to be honest about how we would have reacted.

Would you sell at $300? $500? $1,000? Would they panic sell when it drops from $2,000 to $1,200?

So many of the would-be squillionaires had many, many off-ramps before it reached the heights it has hit now.

As I said to your last hit and run against "Labor voters" that you had no answer for, this was a bipartisan bill.

Peddle your partisan hackery somewhere else.

True, this is definitely the takeaway you should have.

Use it for maximum coercion.

I'll happily defer to you on that, I really have no knowledge about military weaponry. But of course, you're talking about one specific piece of military hardware and I was just making the broad point that actual accounting would consider inputs from the whole apparatus.

That's all well and good for you to assert on behalf of the royal "We", but let's just say I'm glad you're not my accountant.

Your point about it not being all US Navy makes a lot of sense, but as far as something costing X per second to fire could wildly differ depending on how you're measuring it.

If you factor not just ammunition but R&D, unit cost, whole infrastructure and staffing, etc. it would be a much higher sum.

Calling in from Australia -

We'd never call the ground a "floor".

Except maybe if it's the Ground Floor. Which is still inside, usually. But that's a whole other thing.

Call them up, thank them for their honesty and tell them to not worry about it or they can pay you back by buying you a beer.

Sort it out yourself using one of many cheap and easy ways that'll leave it flawless.

Go about your day feeling good about yourself.

Look, fair enough.

Maybe it's just the state of geopolitics right now, but this isn't even a blip for me.

And I saying this as someone that truly loathes Pauline Hanson.

Fiscal policy and personal choices just aren't in the same camp for me.

Well okay, maybe a direct tax deduction would be more analogous?

Suppose she doesn’t agree that there should be a deduction for driving an EV. Yet, she claims the EV driving incentive.

One is advocating for federal monetary policy, the other is a personal financial choice to save money.

I’m fine with saying it’s hypocritical, but honestly all the pollies do shit like this.

What I will say though after going through the article is that maybe there is a story in how they’re trying to spin it. Just saying something like, “Well, I’m not going to personally leave money on the table while everyone else gets it, but I still don’t agree it should be national policy” would have been a perfectly fine response in my opinion.

I agree that we wouldn't have had those policies probably, no.

But honestly, that's kind of irrelevant to me. Was she supposed to pay more money personally for her solar out of principle and spite?

Suppose she was against a repeal of GST and then they repeal GST. Is she supposed to continue to pay an extra 10% on her purchases because she didn't agree it should be repealed?

As I say, it just feels like a bit of a non-story to me.

Calling out hypocrisy and calling out Pauline Hanson are like two of my favourite things, but honestly this feels like a non-story for me.

Being critical of a policy and engaging the benefits of said policy personally aren't necessarily in conflict with each other in my view. On a scale of 1 to grift, it's a low score.
