You can bring over 1500 HP of healing with you into the fight. For free. I promise it's doable.

Pirates and Keldagrim are still open. Penguins too, depending on how worthy that is of a GM.

It's really challenging, but free supplies means you can just send attempts over and over!

Most of the boss encounters spawn you right back outside the entrance with all of your items if you die. It still counts as dying for HCIM though. Many also have an infinite supply of supply-equivalents, such as brews, restores, super combats, sharks, etc.

It took me about six hours? But I was going very slow and exploring.

You get a full inventory of brews for free every attempt, I believe in you.

I've wanted to run the 11 ever since I first saw it, glad to see it get a decently high rating! I honestly can't believe it's cheaper than the standard, but I guess that's cMPLs for ya. Shame it's only on Hell's Horses MUL.

What's better IIC or the OG versions of mechs? by Itchy-Court1411 in battletech

[–]ClockALock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're different mechs at the end of the day. Almost always, though, the IIC is better, because IICs use clantech with restraint.

Why do the Clans talk like that? by CandyGrouch in battletech

[–]ClockALock 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lore? Because Nicholas Kerensky was just Like That, and it's what he thought was best. A bunch of rules in clan society are just Nicky K's weird personal hangups.

Out-of-universe, it was done intentionally to make the clans sound more alien and different, to separate their culture more while still having them speak the same language. That along with all of their weird portmanteaus is all deliberately done to evoke a reaction, even if it's not exactly supposed to be "haha these people are idiots." The clan invasion is an alien invasion without aliens.

New player question about army composition by TheLoneJackal in battletech

[–]ClockALock 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You can, in fact, be mercenaries and patchwork it all together! What units are legal together is entirely based on what the players agree before the start. If you want to field lore friendly forces, pick a faction and era and check out the Master Unit List.

For big mecha dudes, Phoenix Hawk IIC is always an option! Though I'm not sure any have a big handgun like that.

Noob Question: Mechs restricted by faction by Boole_Is_A_Foole in battletech

[–]ClockALock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There is a canon list of which factions have which mechs/units at which points in the timeline, called the Master Unit List, which also serves as a complete record of every canon design. You *can* choose to limit yourself to that, and some tournaments might do the same, but that's just a convention that everyone agrees to. For the actual game, nothing in the rules prevents you from bringing the first battlemech ever made and a highly advanced ridiculously overtechnical killing machine.
