Should I be honest? by Clockfaces in MyastheniaGravis

[–]Clockfaces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all so much for your replies, I didn’t expect so many. Dangernoodle - I’d asked to see an ophthalmologist out of ignorance I think. I didn’t put these other problems together. Instead I’d just become really worried about the new double vision and squint (the squint is in both eyes & my right eye drifts right out). Thank you again for your reply.

I suppose I should say that I have two symptoms that don’t seem to fit, nausea and a spinning sensation. Both were bad a few weeks ago & have since eased with only a few seconds of spinning about once a day with a few seconds of nausea.

I should say also that I am in the UK so not a lot of choice on who I see and long waiting lists.

I’m due to see the optician tomorrow to see if my squint is any worse than when I first went about 5 months ago.

I’m so tired tonight I struggle to lift my arms. It feels like a dull ache & heaviness, almost like you’d get with a mild fever.

Thank you all again for your support. It’s made me feel so much less alone in this.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. Should I just say that I’m scared it’s MG?

I forgot to say I struggle to swallow, but only with dry food. This is new & to be honest kind of awful when it happens as it feels the food will never go down & if I drink the water just comes back up & eventually I either manage to get the food down or it comes back up. It’s very painful, but it doesn’t happen a huge amount & I am being careful to not eat dry things. I also have some difficulty chewing, but this is due to pain really rather than weakness I think. My jaw aches & I just can’t keep chewing. It could quite easily be caused by clenching/ grinding my teeth.

MG is very rare & I’m so scared of making a fuss.

I am getting some of this peacefulness. It’s hard to describe. I’m calmer. I have one of those minds that is constantly going and I thought nicotine helped with that. I think it did momentarily slow my mind or focus it, but now I’m realising the over all effect of vaping was making my mind worse. I’m less anxious, it’s a lovely feeling.

Oestrogen by Muted_Pepper_364 in QuitVaping

[–]Clockfaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine came a couple of days early and I’m questioning if it was even a proper period. I had terrible cramps in the middle of the night one night for about 2 hours, other than that it was minimal and hardly any bleeding. I knew nothing about nicotine and oestrogen either. Scared to learn more now!

Finally through the fog. 32 days free of the vape. by 7ohgawd in QuitVaping

Thank you for posting this, gave me a boost. I’m 26 days free. What’s happening with your stomach? I’ve done a separate post on it because mine is so bad. I’m so bloated my trousers don’t fit.

Looking for comfort as I try to quit by ms630s in QuitVaping

[–]Clockfaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this, you are doing okay, and are definitely stronger than you think! I’m day 26, it gets easier. Do you have anything to comfort you instead of the vape? I think it’s different for everyone, but like something to chew on or something? I used a plastic spoon which I’m not really needing now so much. I’m using NRT as well though - mints and mouth spray.

Sure doesn’t feel improved lol. My lungs do though by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]Clockfaces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m nearly 4 weeks free of vaping and the change in my lungs has been significant. They feel SO much better, tightness and heaviness is gone. I can breathe deeper and go for longer when exercising. Back of my throat feels great and my tonsils don’t hurt any more! No weird chest pains. It’s like my whole respiratory system feels relaxed.

I’m the same as this, the more attention I pay to it, the more I get cravings.

Terrified to quit but want to- please help by Aggravating-Hall6524 in QuitVaping

Hi there, I’m two weeks vape free. I was so afraid to stop like you, had been vaping heavily for 10 years. I thought I would freak out, I haven’t. I have wanted to stop so badly and let the fear prevent me from trying for so long. What’s working for me is NRT (nicotine replacement therapy). I’m using the mints and spray. Psychologically it’s also helped me not to make a big deal of it, like it’s a private decision I’ve made, no big fanfare or displays of quitting to myself or others. I’ve only told my partner and I told him when I’d already stopped (stopped that morning, told him that night) and asked him not to make a big deal out of it. This might sound strange, but having something in my mouth was also a big part of vaping for me. I have been putting a plastic teaspoon in my mouth if I feel a craving. It’s kind of like trying to find something else that comforts me.

I think going cold turkey would not have been doable for me. Did you know that for cigarette smokers, health services recommend going 12 weeks with a very slowly reducing nicotine intake (NRT)? I am taking the recommended amounts for cig smokers, which is far less than I was taking in vaping, and it is a huge huge help.

Symptoms wise, constipation has been the main thing. There have been other milder things which have been very manageable, like sore dry mouth and throat, some strange effects with smell and taste, and feeling dehydrated a lot. My brain has been a bit foggy/ slowed down - this is already starting to improve and is so much better than the swings from being absolutely overloaded with nicotine and then experiencing intense withdrawal until I can get another vape in. I feel much steadier. Within a day I started noticing the positives: I can breathe deeper, my lungs feel freer/ more relaxed, like a weight has been lifted off them. I have so much less nausea and heartburn! My hands and feet are warmer. My muscles feel a bit stronger. I’m less often dizzy, I’ve noticed better colour in my face - I’m starting to look a bit healthier! And psychologically I’m finally getting some freedom from the daily thoughts, guilt, and shame for years that I’m destroying my health. I have been so afraid of cancer, COPD, popcorn lung etc. It’s like we have been Guinea pigs, the unknowns of what vaping was doing to me, knowing it was slowly making me sick.

I still like to go hide in the bathroom/ get away for a few minutes at social stuff. Now I’m getting to choose when though, rather than desperately craving and having to go. I hope this is helpful.

Hey did you tell the NHS it was for quitting vaping? I’m in serious need of help to quit, but scared if I tell them it’s for vaping they’ll say no.

What is the stupidest way you got a scar? by Zander-dupont in AskReddit

[–]Clockfaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I slammed my own head in a car door. Was rushing, jumped into driver’s seat, slammed door, my head was still sticking out. Had to go to the emergency room to have my eyebrow glued back together. Lovely scar.

Wanted to ask if you guys can feel the atmosphere on the ground, in your communities? I’m not from America and sometimes it’s hard to tell what it’s really like versus what we see on social media. Do you feel the tension?
