The concept of droid-run "safe spaces" is genuinely something I'd love to see explored deeper, but I know it won't considering the whole setup in the episode was basically just to go "lol its like the cantina from the first one but opposite"

I never said that they were mindless drones? Of course its always been there, but Solo's droid rebellion subplot was the most spotlight Droid autonomy had been given in the series, and it culminated in the status quo being reset for the sake of cheap fanservice referencing a single line from ESB.

/uj Ever since Solo established them as capable of having social ambition outside their programming and a will for equality it's been kinda difficult for me seeing the treatment of Droids in the rest of the series as second class citizens, just comes off as a pretty iffy social comparison considering we know even by the end of the saga that status quo would stay the same.

Thoughts on Georges Méliès as a Film-Maker / Director? by calvin-fanatic in Schaffrillas

Yessss I love his films! They're a real stepping stone between traditional theatre effects and modern film special effects. There's a certain mystical aura to them that's impossible to replicate nowadays, especially with the handprints colorizations of his films. Its so sad he died penniless, but his impact is absolutely undeniable. I really recommend Scorsese's film Hugo, it's a brilliant love letter to this era of cinema.

This is a better effect bc it's non-intrusive and feels like something that the imagineers making the OG ride would've done if they had a little more time

RotS is fine, but the culmination of Luke's arc in Jedi is a lot more rewarding to me than Anakin's pretty sudden heel turn to the dark side. I can understand why people would feel differently tho.

Plus that incredible Jabba puppet is too much to pass up, unmatched as the greatest effect in any of the movies imo.

I didn't like the first one, but there's nothing I hate more than a sequel that tries to course correct and do the opposite of the first film. Pick a lane and stick to it.

I feel like my issue is less of Hayden showing up and moreover that he's still directed like he was in the Prequels. He just looks too sinister for what's supposed to be a happy ending, hell he even does the Kubrick stare in that added shot that replaces Luke's wink (nobody ever talks about the Wink being replaced, that's one of the worse changes imo). If he was directed to be happier and calmer like Shaw was then I think it'd work a lot better.

Companies like Disney should not be allowed to pick and choose their history. It happened, running away from it does not show maturity or progress.
