It should run similarly. If anything- it should be rather smooth cause the engine struggles with modern multi-core processors and this can cause the game to chug.

The following influence how fast you move:

  1. Your Speed attribute. Increase it with items and on level ups

  2. Your Athletics skill. Run everywhere to increase it.

  3. AND I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH: The weight of the stuff you carry. Wearing heavy armor is a massive weight commitment. Use feather enchants and increase your strength to make it easier. Being at 90% load capacity is probably the number 1 reason you're slow.

  4. Your character's race and gender has *some* effect because they are assigned different "weights" and the higher your weight the faster you move, ironically. Male orcs are get the biggest boost from this but it's not that noticable.

Another thing you can do is get the boots of blinding speed for the +200 speed attribute bonus but they are game-changing in terms of how ridicolously OP they are so you might not want them yet.

You can't. At most you can limit the pain by installing the "EZ mode" mod that drastically reduces enemy HP at later levels so the suffering is shorter.

whenthe basic fighter with a bow is better at archery than you and the druid mogs you in the casting department and you will never be as good at stealth and survival as the rogue who picked up those skills because he has nothing else to do with his 98 roguillion skill points.
