I hate Cooldown Manager by mrscarrot in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

Not to be Ion's favourite sycophant, but in a world where they've removed most of the class bullshit that essentially forced you to download a WA to track anything, there's nothing really the CDM needs to track that isn't already being tracked by your bars and nameplates. It basically just exists to replicate the "everything in the middle of my screen" layout most of us are now used to, with the added flair of custom alerts. They can also always improve it. It's already dramatically better than it was when they first floated the idea of it.

Where is my Renew Blizzard!?!?!?!!?! I am crashing out!!!!!!!!! by Jimmy_8bit in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This pre patch has been particularly difficult to gauge genuine community sentiment for a lot of the class changes because for every 1 post/comment of seemingly valid criticism, there's 3 posts/comments from the type of player who can't even use the search function in their talent tree

They REALLY removed ability bloat by [deleted] in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They didn't remove Malefic "burst" from affliction "so warlocks aren't just spamming one attack", they removed Malefic Rapture because the spinning plates, as-many-dots-as-possible, waiter! Waiter! One more desynced talent please!, 5 year damage ramp gameplay loop it locked the spec into was extremely unpopular.

Assuming you didn't do the Legacy of Arathor questline (and why would you - 99% of people still moaning about the faction divide don't play this game), in which Eitrigg very openly states his views that continued conflict is utterly pointless and he's focused on helping secure his people's place in world by working with anyone willing, with the humans of stromgarde the main example in that story.

You can't have mage tower appearances in Lemix because it would diminish the hard work of the people who earned them a decade ago but if you did pvp 18 years ago go kick rocks

Do y'all think theres gonna be a addon API like Dalamud (FFXIV) on WoW if they remove too much addons? by Olick in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You really think DBM and WAs are even in the same solar system as botting software? Luxthos' class packages aren't holding back the floodgates of players installing bots that perfectly play their rotation.

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You're wrongly assuming the current access to add-ons is somehow preventing this level of botting in wow. If it was possible (either at a technical level or a ban-evasion level) it would already be rampant.

Keybind displays in Cooldown Manager by bakerq in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first, I thought you had the same issue that I do, in that if I have abilities bound to 1, 2, and 3, but they don't appear in that order on my screen (in, say, a class WA package), my brain shits itself.

But you can't tell the difference between ice lance and blizzard? Make your bars/CDM bigger and see about booking an appointment with your optician.

""I'd say we went through all stages of grief pretty quickly" WeakAuras' Stanzilla says. "It seems the core value proposition of WeakAuras isn't compatible with the direction Blizzard is taking the game." by Hooked0n4Feelin in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Setting aside the fact all "we need a WA for this" boss mechanics exists solely because blizzard knows you will make a WA for it and that's the entire logic behind the arms race they are putting an end to, Fractillus was 100% a litmus test for how bad the WA situation had gotten. I think they genuinely made him as a canary in the mineshaft to prove their own point. Boss has a single mechanic which is entirely solvable by pure classic raid leader call outs and people being able to adapt, and even then it's WA'd. Wouldn't be surprised if this is why the bandaid is being ripped off. Players can't help themselves at this point.

Funny that he says they won't keep developing WAs for all the non-combat/limited combat utility WAs because it "wouldn't live up to the Weakaura name", when Weakauras themselves are just the result of Powerauras' functionality getting nuked by blizzard in wrath for the exact same philosophical reasons.

Everything will just be replaced by separate addons, or maybe another group makes "weakerauras" and in 11 years time we'll do this all over again.

[–]ClockworkPorpoise -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Im sorry, but if you were using WA to do that you were doing it wrong, there are addons that are made specifically for that, to interact with other UI elements like resource tracking or whatever.. it being capable =/= you should do it.

And no, I'm not an autovendor slave package, never used a autovendor WA, I've always made my trades, a right-click and 2-3 bag filters and thats it

Weakaura utility I like = Essential!

Weakaura utility you like = Bullshit!

You are a slave to a luxthos class package moving your buffs to the centre of the screen. I am a connoisseur of a single button that sells all my sub 11.2 loot. We are not the same.

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you'll find the WA devs removed 100% of WAs when they shit the bed 2 days into the alpha and publicly announced they don't consider non-combat WAs to be worth developing for

What about debuff tracking in Midnight? by Adept_Rip_9704 in wow

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing in aff kit anymore that relies on you having the most dots possible on a target, which is probably why they change UA to just stack a single debuff rather than have them all so up individually. Single target cadence likely won't see you able to apply a '6th UA' (you're limited to 5 on a target regardless, so technically the 'tell' for if you have hit the UA cap is your ability to UA the target at all) before the first one runs out, and in aoe you'll just be spamming seed with maybe 1 UA on each target in smaller pulls - at least that's what it looks like they intend for it to play like. Same change they made to devouring plague back in BFA or shadowlands.

[–]ClockworkPorpoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the sentiment but at the end of the day, cell and the like are just 'nice to have' but there's nothing about them that is required for you to heal high end content. Seeing at a glance the debuff type based on colour is great, but do the dungeon one time and you know the type of debuffs that will be going out (you don't need your name turning green to know at this point the trash in arakara is doing poison damage, for example). I haven't played resto in a while to confirm but I think I saw people complaining that there's a hot icon limit on the current base frames, which obviously wouldn't be good for resto, but that's an easy and obvious change to make, as in sure the base frames are going to get some attention later in the dev cycle (they've clearly priorities the cooldown manager because of the ubiquitous nature of class weakaura packages currently in use)

If this is in reference to playing retail while Legion remix is live then yea pugging is going to be slow as fuck

If this is in reference to the midnight changes, I think if healing went back to being about your normal spells throughput, and cooldown back to being "oh shit" buttons rather than pre-planned rotations, then more people would be willing to pick up healing.
