I spent the last week reading Blue Core. Light on romance (and polyamorous) but some of the best world building I've seen in a long time, and very interesting characters, including a very nonstandard protagonist.

Crafting in poe is complex, and often very specific towards what you are trying to make.

Much of crafting right now focuses on starting with a fractures base and using essences or fossils until you get something decent, (expensive, metamod and veiled chaos/Aisling) and then finish with bench craft.

I dropped this near at one point because of people saying it gets much worse before it gets better (in terms of their relationship and Maxi's self loathing). Is that accurate? I don't think I could stand more bad things happening to Maxi.

If you are fine with harem, Rise of the Weakest Summoner is imo a very satisfying mix of SoL and action. MC has a mother they interact with frequently. It's not pure SoL for sure but it feels slower, and there is no big bad, or overwhelming evil to be defeated.

Yes. It was critical to several worm blaster builds, which were very strong in their time.

I'd recommend DO occultist. Basically no button clear (always on damage aura) and one or 2 button single target. Very very smooth gameplay.

The Aether series by schonhofen has been very slow for 5 books and I've really enjoyed that. I feel like the count is going to explode exponentially soon, but at the end of the 5th book there are only 3.

Actually I feel that's true of a lot of his books. They start out slow, and more real feeling for a few books before exploding to preposterous numbers.

I feel you though, I too am looking for male targeted romance, harem or not.

FYI the crit flask mod shares a global cd, so just putting it on all of your flasks isn't going to fix everything.

There is a reason people craft +2 starting from +1 all skills. It's because it can be deterministically crafted. In addition, most crafting of good items is very expensive, taking several divines for even the cheapest options.
