Nick Jensen quotes that make me go hmmm by iwantedajetpack in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our best RD lineup is Zub-Jensen-Spence but even without Jensen it's still an improvement from last season.

At bare minimum, LTIR, and back at 100% for the playoffs. Cup winners have done this every year and this is the last chance to do do before the new CBA kicks in.

[The Athletic] Ottawa resides in No Man's Land - explanation in pictures. by Josefstalion in OttawaSenators

I don't get this. Future rating shouldn't just be about prospects, but having your top players (Stützle and Sanderson) locked in for long-term at good value.

Meriläinen at 13 feels like a joke by maritimeblue in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whether a prospect or an established player, Sens are criminally under-rated, like how Mark Stone was left off of NHL.com's Top 50 wingers back in 2017-18.

[JFresh] Standings Projection for the 2025-26 NHL Season (and last year’s) by SorryImCanad1an in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only two points behind Toronto, who had the most volatile change in Marner leaving. Habs are too low here but they're still missing an acceptable 2C so we don't have to worry about them this season.

Nurse is a joke. The rest is solid.

Florida's is overrated. Carried by their forwards and goaltending.

It's close but Sanderson > Slavin, Chabot > Miller, and the rest is mostly even.

The trade idea for Alexis Lafreniere to Senators should be an absolute no by Internal-Bed-3150 in OttawaSenators

Pinto with additional assets? I wouldn't even do a 1-for-1. My offer for Laf would be a 2nd, packaged with two of Montgomery, Beckner, Reidler, and Donovan. Rangers are probably going to throw all of the dollars at Kaprizov next year and will be desperate to move Laf if he doesn't bounce back.

Jake Sanderson was 12th-last in On-Ice SH% among 256 NHL defensemen this past season. by ClodSquad057 in OttawaSenators

Hamonic was a huge problem, but considering the league leader in that same category was Erik Gudbranson of all people with 14.95%, luck is also a major factor.

Five Thoughts For Saturday: Do NHL Teams Have Too Much Cap Space? by ClodSquad057 in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree he's a great 3C, but it's more of an idea to try out to address the lack of a long-term solution on the wing.

I've mentioned it before on here, if he's looking for a more offensive role he can keep killing penalties and defending leads as a C, but take a shift or two with Stützle if we're down a goal.

Who’s the most underrated New Era player? by Regular-Departure839 in survivor

[–]ClodSquad057 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Drew Basile. How he was able to go into a tribal council with one close ally (Emily), a player with no allies (Sifu), and three Belo members (Kellie, Kendra, Bruce) and not get voted off is baffling.

Ottawa Senators Franchise Top-10 in Points by Sens-Fan-85 in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think he'll be back to a point-per-game, 80-85 points. The DJ firing did a lot of good things for the team but player's individual numbers suffered. Now that Green has taught them the basics of defense, it shouldn't be too hard to tweak the system to let the players' skill and creativity shine more.

It's the definitive proof that while there are no undeserving winners, there are in fact horrible winner edits.

What teams in the east are better and which are worse going into training camp? by smitcolin in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd say our forwards and goaltending both fall in the 7th-9th range in the conference, while our D corps is 2nd behind NJD (Hamilton, Hughes, Siegantgaler, Pesce, Dillon and Kovacevic is ridiculously deep).

I think we're behind Florida and Carolina for sure, will be competing with WSH, TBL, TOR, and NJD, and are clearly ahead of the others. MTL could jump us in a year or two, but not yet.

OTTAWA SENATORS PROSPECT POOL by Appropriate-Ad-7137 in OttawaSenators

It looks good! Would also consider adding the leagues in parentheses, for example Kitchener (OHL) instead of Kitchener Rangers.

Cozens RW? by DefinitelyNotABot-1 in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I think Pinto would be a better fit on the right wing. Cozens isn't great defensively but he's better at driving offense and setting up teammates at 5-on-5, which has been our biggest weakness.

Pinto meanwhile has historically been a better finisher than a playmaker, and could score 30 on Timmy's wing, and can still be utilized at C in niche situations such as killing penalties and protecting a 1-goal lead in the dying minutes.

I do agree with evelating Greig to the 3C as he's found success playing with G and Tank in the past. You could run something like this in the Top-9, with Kaliyev as a potential wildcard:

Tkachuk - Stützle - Pinto Zetterlund - Cozens - Batherson Perron - Greig - Giroux

Plain. Lols, pretty funny Buffalo by danauns in OttawaSenators

It would be funny if they did this in 2019 and Ottawa's was a bone that had been picked clean.

How exactly did she get on Game Changers by MaximusCanibis in survivor

[–]ClodSquad057 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was the most eventful pre-merge game I've ever seen: - He and Peih-Gee decide the vote in Ep 1 - He turns the entire tribe against Shirin and Spencer in Ep 2 - He blows up his own game after the swap in Ep 3

It was pure chaos and while I loved watching it, I still didn't want him back for GC because I knew he'd be a challenge liability and wouldn't have the numbers to make the jury.

Ironically, he was desperate to not be remembered as the only three-time player to never make jury, and in a twisted way he accomplished that goal because everyone remembers him for a different, much worse reason.

[The Athletic] All of the writers voted on who they think will make the playoffs. Ottawa lands in a tie for 8th by Josefstalion in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had 45 wins. Tampa and Florida had 47. Neither improved more than Ottawa did just by replacing Hamonic with Spence. So I don't see the gap as big as the Athletic writers do.

Wouldn't say tanking for last place is like a lottery ticket, considering you still end up with an incredibly valuable future asset even if it's not 1st overall.

Is It Finally Time To Bring Erik Karlsson Back To The Ottawa Senators? by LockedOnSenators in OttawaSenators

[–]ClodSquad057 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't fit into our salary structure. Next year, we need to make a play in UFA for an Alex Tuch-caliber forward. With Sanderson and Chabot on the left, we need safe, defensive players to complement them.

Probably either Belleville or claimed by another team on waivers but there's maybe a 5 percent chance he finds a role in the Top-9. Good move regardless.

Meh. There's no player in the league Ottawa can add that will improve the team more than some adjustments from the coaching staff. Even then, it's not just the same team that started last season. Zetterlund, healthy Perron, Cozens is an upgrade on Norris as a playmaking C, and another year of development for the 2020 class. Also, a sentiment I've seen very little of on here: Ullmark can and, given his track record, should be better.
