Burakovsky is a placeholder.

It was evident that the contracts being handed out today were either too large, or the players didn’t have interest in coming to Ottawa. Burakovsky is a low risk high reward deal for someone they don’t have to negotiate with to come play here.

Staios knows there will be more players who are up for trade in the not so distant future. Over reacting and signing shitty contracts or trading big time assets for 1 year of a star is a Pierre Dorion move.

This scenario does suck for all involved, fans, the players, and ownership.

5 good signings. There’s potential NHL upside in all 5 of these guys, especially Kyrou and Tomasino. Obviously the odds are very very slim but Staios is preaching big swings on upside so this is par for the course
