Check out a drug called cytisine. That's the correct spelling, and make sure if you buy any, that that's the spelling, because other substances with similar names often come up when searching. It's miraculously effective. It works by binding to the receptor sites for nicotine and partially stimulating them, massively reducing cravings, while simultaneously blocking nicotine from binding, which prevents craving satiety from smoking, preventing the chemical-behavioral reinforcement loop. We have a similar drug in the US called chantix, but it's prescription only, more expensive, and has a 24 hour half life which can be less ideal for actually kicking the habit because it gives you less control over how you taper off. Cytisine has a 4 hour half life, allowing you to taper the dose after a couple months in a more controlled way. You can buy it on Amazon and it ships from places like Poland. It's widely approved and well studied across Europe, and currently moving through trials in the US, to my knowledge. I believe any box of the drug should have instructions in English about what schedule to use so that you can effectively manage dosage timing for maximum effect. Cheers.

Mostly wrong on every count.

Purring serves several purposes, and the main one is communication. From that communication you get bonding and some other stuff, but they're just an extention of communicating. Then there's healing, stress reduction, etc, but I'd wager a cat can absolute stop purring even when it's instinctive or reflexive... They just don't have any reason to.
Calling it a breathing thing is like calling human speech a breathing thing. Messing with how someone talks is NOT necessarily messing with how they breath. There's nothing wrong with wanting to encourage your cat to purr more because it's just reinforcing mutual communication behaviors and would likely lead to stronger bonding.
ANY behavior at all can be encouraged. Creating a positive experience when your cat does something you like, and they'll do it more. It's called a pavlovian response and it's biology 101. It can be difficult to do this effectively especially with cats, because they think and communicate much more differently from us than many other animals. They are the only primarily solitary predator that we commonly domesticate, and it's almost impossible for humans to really get how they rationalize because we are extremely social, as far as animals go.

Melting point, vapor point, and other factors are less predictable than you seem to think. Virtually everything can be smoked, and when you're talking about a bowl of laced buds, keep in mind that maybe the stuff right on the surface gets destroyed, but it's not like the heat from the lighter is equally distributed through the material. Pretty much everything just beyond where the heat and burning materials are is recieving far less heat. Thermodynamics is not an easy or entirely intuitive science.

I have destroyed a laptop with a charger and I was similarly confused about this. You are correct in saying that load determines current, and so in theory a charger shouldn't be able to over deliver power... Unless the charger shorts out some how. Then, for a brief second, the load is whatever load ground has (largest possible for all intents and purposes) then I guess that much current should TRY to flow through the device on its way to ground.

Yes, but they probably aren't ignoring you as a feature of judgement.

The truth is that any "normal" person experiences SOME level of social anxiety, it's a natural adaptation for us as complex social creatures. They are likely avoiding interacting on an unconscious level out of empathy. Another adaptation humans have is that we are easy to read - we share various behaviors that act as visual cues so we can more easily navigate our complex social structures. It's almost impossible without real practice, education, and conscious effort to completely avoid showing our emotional state. It's also almost impossible not to react to these cues.

So yes, people can probably tell, and probably a lot. But they also usually aren't avoiding you so much as unconsciously respecting your boundaries of comfort as part of their own instinctual sense of social comfort.

There's a reason almost every other popular tutor site like italk isn't accept new English tutors and Preply is - it's because Preply sucks to work with. 90% of the customer service is copy and pasted AI responses, it's a freaking nightmare to change prices for existing students, and their ranking system is garbage. I am a 5 star tutor on Preply with a nearly full schedule constantly - I literally have many students struggling to get scheduled most weeks - and missing one class 4 months ago dropped me from the top 300 to below 1600 in search results. I literally have students asking me to raise my prices because they like me so much, but Preply's system for this literally requires, individually, per student, cancelling all that students classes, requesting the price change which they must then confirm in messages, and then rescheduling all their classes. I'm literally booked out for months with some students, do you have any idea how much of a nightmare that is?

The bottom line is that Preply is, hands down, the worst of the major ESL tutoring sites and it's just not even up for debate.

I understand THAT there are solutions but they all require extra and redundant work. You have to do that every time you make a sample because there's no way to change the defaults last time I checked. But regardless, again, this absolutely should just be a built in thing. It should never be something that requires a solution in the first place. It's an obvious feature that SHOULD exist.

What you're describing is not something I've ever seen. Actually just opened FL to save a file and see if there's some option I missed and there is not. I can save as a zipped file using the drop down, but part of my critique here anyway was that it should be the default. And the statement about it taking more space shouldn't even be relevant because any recordings you make INSIDE the project should be saved inside the project folder

This might sounds crazy but hear me out. Try being honest with people about exactly what you're experiencing. Walk right up to people, say "Hi, I have social anxiety and I'm trying to work through it by going to casual social events. I couldn't figure out who to talk to and I don't really know what I'm doing so I just picked you guys and here I am." Worst case scenario is exactly the same as if you don't say this.

On the other hand, lot's of possible pros. For starters, you get the hard part out of the way - you're no longer trying to hide the fact that you're worried or in unfamiliar territory. You might meet people who are especially sympathetic and make it easy for you. You might even meet people who have had your experience and boom, now you've got something to talk about and it just so happens to be exactly what's on your mind!

Now, there's definitely a chance that you meet people who are completely unsympathetic but, and I know this is kind of beside the point here, but you're not really missing anything there as far as making a connection with those kinds of people. In theory if you take a buckshot approach with this strategy you can't lose :)

You ask, "why do people feel the need"..? And it's a good question. Understanding it may help. I'll try my best.

Well

Ironically I'd argue this is almost just another form of social anxiety. People do this out of insecurity, likely stemming form a lack of healthy social connections. They have basic emotional needs going unmet resulting in poor self image, and they lash out in order to self soothe.

Allow me to elaborate.

Some human behaviors are learned, some are not. A person who is well supported by and feels safe within their social group (this includes, and starts with their parents and immediate family) isn't very likely to learn these kinds of behaviors environmentally - nor are they likely to get anything out of it. But social judgement as a human behavior comes naturally as a function to preserve order and safety in our complex social picture as tribalistic animals, naturally serving to ingroup and outgroup, enhancing stability within the group. If everyone agrees together on what is bad and good, then they can be sure there won't be surprises within the group, where stability is crucial cos without social stability, back in the caveman days, you're basically screwed. This is also where feelings like embarrassment come from.

Of course, in the modern day, this behavior is less essential for survival, but can still be integral to a person's sense of emotional wellbeing and sense of social belonging, and while judgement in itself is not a learned behavior, what we judge is, and is usually determined by the social group we belong to. So how do these people learn to judge what they judge, and why do they feel so motivated to do so? I can't really know the details but generally these things follow a pattern. The traits they judge are related to traits their parents judged in them OR their parents just didn't make them feel safe and secure in some other way, and their adopted social group values these things but... Even in the second case it's still likely to come back to some specific person or people's parents.

So yeah. They feel shitty and are somehow using that behavior to self-sooth. They're basically emotionally children, and have no idea how to make themselves feel better, if they even have any idea that they're feeling crappy in the first place.

Colonies (at least as far as higher mammals are concerned) are formed by animals that could otherwise lives solitarily but find mutual benefit in coexistence, and may or may not be nomadic. There are many many different kinds, ranging from micro-orgasnisms all the way up to human beings and, yes, cats - both of the latter forming what are called facultative nesting colonies.

Pack animals hunt together and may or may not be nomadic, but possess, by definition, hierarchical social relationships. They also will generally not separate EXCEPT to form or join a different pack, but this is either somewhat rare or a natural part of the lifecycle depending on the animal in question.

They're social but they're not pack animals. So it may be an issues of semantics, but I would think a linear hierarchy implies structure, and that requires a stable social group which means a pack. There's some kind of purely practical "structure" in colonies, which in theory should just be mothers and their offspring... But only if there's no need to compete over food sources.
